Chapter 10 Part 2: Beelzebub
My head was complicated, so I didn’t have the spirit to explain in detail.
While Kwon Seong-min was sweating and explaining what had happened inside the barrier, I entered the tent early. Various thoughts were tangled up.
Beelzebub. Also known as ‘The Red Darkness Seed’.
As you can infer from its name, He’s part of the Demon clan.
Every gate has its own way of clearing it. This is an unchangeable rule.
Stage-type gates, have clear conditions in the form of quests. While field-type gates like this one, the main objective was to catch the final boss as a clearing method. That Beelzebub is this gate’s final boss.
I was able to cut his neck with my own hands…
Beelzebub was the one who made huge contributions in making the gate clearing process to last for more than three years.
He’s a High-Ranking Demon-Class monster with an S-level difficulty. He was so similar to a human being that I wondered if it was appropriate to classify him as a monster.
Also the man in my personal memory was…
-Would you like some tea?
His fine black hair was glistening under the rays of the scorching sun. Those red eyes which were symbols of a High-Ranking Demon, had always contain a trace boredom. He only reacts differently everytime my mentor was around.
-You are different from any other humans, Hyewon. You are so special.
Oh how creepy he was everytime he say that with that evil smile of his. Even my teacher used to distort her face in disgust every time she sees it.
This time I seemed to have captured his attention.
I didn’t even think it was possible. He was so obsessed with my mentor, that not even a fly can catch his eyes. I expected him to be same this time too…
It was literally this man who has a hobby of observing human beings who was extremely fond of my mentor.
I used to see his eyes twinkle everytime my mentor beat all the trials he presented. He also used to sneak up on her everytime she encounters a life and death situation. He would help her and leave her enough life to prevent herself from completely dying. That’s how sadistic and sick he was.
There were a ton of hunters who tried to clear the gate, but for three years they all failed. Mentally exhausted by his tortuous harassment, my mentor who he considers as a rare specimen, made a final trap in order to finally defeat him.
We finally succeeded in the end. I was able to cut that guy’s head… My mentor had obtained a different title.
That’s why, Beelzebub is considered as my enemy.
Just imagining about meeting him, made me gnash my teeth and tremble.
Oh how I would love to ram my fist on that pretty face, that would have felt so good!
Even when his head were finally separated from his neck, that guy was still smiling so leisurely. Well he wasn’t really dying, so he didn’t take it seriously. It’s like everything was just a joke to him…
When I heard his name today, I actually got goosebumps all over my body. All those painful memories about my past came back and hunted me.
About my Mentor… And all the mistakes I’ve made…

If you think about it, this could be a blessing in disguise. If Beelzebub pays attention to me instead of my master, I might be able to prevent her from dying again.
I guess that would be another way to put it too…

After I returned, I gave a brief report to Choi Woo-Do, and he showed a worried expression.
“Is it…”
“I think he’s watching me.”
Kwon Seong-Min nodded awkwardly. Since he was with me during the whole process, and was trapped inside the barrier with me. He was able to witnesss and hear everything that Cerberus said.
“There is a huge possibility that this is a Boss Monster.”
“That’s the only way he can command monsters like Cerberus.”
“… It’s been more than a month since the gate opened.”
Choi Woo-do said with a bitter tone.
“It’s unusual that the gate isn’t cleared to this extent. I think they sent a couple of hunters to scout and try to find a way to clear the gate… But they probably encountered some difficulty. I don’t know how vast this gate is. However, those hunters must be in a dilemma. Finding a Boss monster here won’t be easy…”
One month. As far as I know, the state is putting in hunters for clearing at this point.
As it was an unprecedented gate, I predicted that the boss monster would be tough, so I recruited hunters with fairly good skills. The giant guilds Hongyeom, Taesan, and Hanmaru dispatched their main hunters, and everyone predicted a good win rate… … I read it later in the log.
“Perhaps they abandoned us outside… There is a limit to enduring like this…
Choi Woo-do made a rare weak voice. The deep anguish of the center leading the community quietly showed its traces. There are limits to this endurance. It was a clear decision.
Because supplies will eventually run out.
No matter how much you save, your emergency power will always run out, and it was obvious how much your quality of life would change after that. I knew better than anyone else how people who could not continue to live a life worthy of humanity express their dissatisfaction. Because I know the terrible end of this community.
I wonder if it’s right to say this at this timing, but I had to say it anyway.
“I’m leaving.”
At my words, Kwon Seong-min was startled and looked back at me. However, Choi Woo-do only looked at me with sunken eyes. Through the old glasses, the old man’s insight shone.
“……I guessed that you would leave someday. I didn’t expect it to be this fast, but……
Other than that, the reaction was strong.
“Seoha. Are you serious? Are you leaving? Out there?”
Kwon Seong-min acted as if he had received a great shock even though I was thinking about something else.
“There are monsters roaming around, and the boss monster is watching you, but you’re leaving here?”
