Chapter 2 Part 2: Preparation
“Miss Seo-Ha.”
“Hmm.?”
Kwon Seong-Nim walked towards me along with a group of people.
“I’ve been looking around for people with high stats. Those with strength or agility higher than 13.”
Roughly speaking, there were at least 3 men and 2 women.
“And I’ve found someone with a unique skill.”
One of the men walked forward. He was a smart looking man. He looked pretty tired. He was skinny, and was wearing cracked glasses. He looked a bit exhausted.
He looks like the common geek in the novels. The type who lives with just books up their noses all their lives.
It seems like Kwon Seong-min intentionally hid the fact that he found someone with a Unique skill earlier. He has a pretty good judgement. He deserves a plus point. (ಠ◡ಠ)
Perhaps, he expected that it would be useless to tell anyone anyways.
If a monster attacks us tomorrow, I’d probably save this man first. He seemed pretty useful.
“What’s your skill?”
“It says «Reconnaissance», but…”
“That’s great! When we move out tomorrow, you will be scouting ahead with me.”
“Me?”
He frowned slightly. Well, I expected that.
It was quite amusing to see a modern man like him, quietly accepting his fate when put in a desperate situation. However, I am not in the mood to give others empathy.
“Yes. Your reconnaissance skill can help us identify monsters and hidden traps ahead of us.”
“Please. Mr. Min-Joon.”
“Sigh…….”
He knitted his brows, but he still agreed although a little hesitant. However, he emphasized that, if his life were ever put in danger, he might run straight away. Well that was pretty much expected.
“There are few youngsters in the group, so the numbers are pretty small, but we should be able to make do with this.”
“Then let the others stand behind us. Leave one person with high agility stat stay at the back as look out. If something happens he can run to the front lines to alert us.”
Everyone nodded. Fortunately, there were still some youngsters out during dinner time. If it happened during the day they’d all be at work or at school, and these people would have been the first to be mutilated.”
“Alright. Call me Han Seo-Ha.”
“I’m Kwon Seong-min. Let’s do our best. There will be other people in the indoor gym tomorrow.”
After our introduction, everyone else followed suit.
“I’m Seol Min-joon, and I have a unique skill reconnaissance.”
“This is Kim Tae-byung!”
“I’m Lee Chan Song pleased to meet you all~”
“I’m Go Hae-yoon.”
“P-Please feel free to call me I-I am Song Da-jung.”

I can roughly guess some of these people’s specialization at a glance. Seol Min-Joon seemed to be an Assassin-Type Specialist, seeing that he had the reconnaissance unique skill. As for Kim Tae-Byung, he seems to have the talent as a tanker-build specialist. I’m still not sure about the rest.
“Umm… Can I ask you about something?”
Song Da-jung awkwardly raised her hand. I feel like I’ve just turned into a primary school teacher.
“What is it?”
“It’s just.. Won’t there be monsters roaming around outside right now? W-wouldn’t it be better if we just rebuild the wall and hold on like this… rather than put it up temporarily?”
“There are monster corpses here. Do you still want to camp here? I don’t really want to recommend it.”
I then pointed at the corpse of the Earth General monster across us, and she nodded as if to understand my meaning.
“Oh, Yeah that’s right. Monsters also react to the smell of blood and corpses…!”
“It’s basically like that.”
Therefore, we can only stay here utmost for a day. After that, the smell of blood and the stench of rotting corpses will attract the other monsters around.
“Wow, are you an academy student?”
Lee Chan-song suddenly interrupted and asked. His yellow bleached hair fluttered before me. His face with a mischievous smile looked quite sleek. Although, the curiosity behind his eyes seemed a bit ambiguous.
“It’s not like that… I was just a bit interested on anything about the gate.”
The Academy. It was the National Program made available for talented and aspiring hunters. You could call it an elite course. Academy graduates are more likely to get offers from the Big Five. But unfortunately, now I’m just an ordinary student.
Even before I regressed, I’ve never been an academy student. After all, after coming out of the gate alive, I went straight to the field.
“Oh? I thought you were an aspiring hunter.”
After Lee Chan-song’s strangely subtle words, an innocent voice immediately chirped in. It was Kim Tae-byung. His clear eyes gave me a deep impression.
“So that’s how it is. I was really surprised earlier! How do you get behind the monster in an instant? Is that a unique skill?”
“Shall we plan ahead which route to take when we travel out tomorrow?” I stared at them.
Although navigation systems has been a part of our lives for a long time, maps still existed, and Kwon Seong-Min just took out one. He probably took it out somewhere. The map looks old, but the routes are quite detailed.
“base on the map, there are roughly two routes we can take.”
One was using the path along the road. Although we’ll have to make a little detour.
And the other one…
“You want to cross the bridge?”
Go Hae-yoon asked in disbelief. However, Kwon Seong-min seemed to have set his mind.
“This route is much faster. Also, it will take us a week to make a detour. We will definitely encounter monsters along the way. If we use the bridge we’d be able to arrive within 3 days utmost.”
“But how do we know if the bridge is still stable? There must be monsters active underwater… if they attack us, it will be difficult to avoid them on top of the bridge. By then we’ll be finished!”
Her words were reasonable. Kwon Seong-Min started contemplating.
Would he choose to take the risk for a week or venture across the bridge full of unknown dangers?
“Miss Seo-Ha. What do you think?”
Seong-Min stared at me, with a pleading look.
“…… Let’s go to the bridge.”
