Chapter 3 part 1: Departure

After I said that, Go Hae-yoon’s eyes widened.

“It’s true that we don’t know whether the bridge is unstable and it might be dangerous, but we won’t be able to move around for an hour carrying a huge luggage. It might be possible for us since we’re in our 20s, but most of the people here are middle-aged.”

“We can try reducing the load maybe we-”

“Do you think we can just go into the indoor gym casually? It should be chaotic right now due to the lack of resources. If we don’t pack anything, we’ll be thrown out before we even get to the door.”

Go Hae-yoon seemed to have a lot of opinions, but decided to keep her mouth shut. No matter how great the risk was, it’s still inevitable. If they decide not to secure their supplies, they might be barred out of the indoor gym, and then they’d be left outside to fend for themselves to die.

“Seol Min-Joon. How far can you see with your reconnaissance skills?”

“I’m not sure, but I think I can detect anything within my field of vision.”

That’s good enough.

“Get as close to the bridge as possible and examine it with your reconnaissance skill. At least try to, check whether or not it has any signs of collapsing.”

He nodded his head while slightly frowning. He seemed to dislike my commanding tone. However, there was no time to worry about silly little grudges.

“But…Won’t other people have a lot of objections? It’s true, that crossing the bridge might bring a ton of hidden dangers afterall.”

Kim Tae-byeong asked cautiously. However, I’ve set my mind already.

“We’ll only ask those who want to follow. It doesn’t matter if there are others who want to stay. Just let them stay.”

I made it clear that I would leave people behind without hesitation. As if they had understood my meaning, everyone froze.

“Regardless of how many of you decides to follow, I will definitely leave this place and head to the Indoor gym tomorrow.”

I said firmly.

The night sky was visible through the cracks on the wall. The light, emitted from the stars or satellite, was glittering brightly.

After the ruckus was settled. I stared at the lonely night sky. Various thoughts then came rushing into my mind.

I really can’t understand what’s going on. How do I deal with this situation?

Is this reality or an illusion?

Everything is just too absurd to be a reality. However, everything that happened was too vivid.

Am I just being delusional?

Or my imagination was just too rich?

Is this my regret?

Is this where I start to imagine things that could have happened if I made a different decision back then?

However, if this is real…

Why did I go back to the past?

Going back in time doesn’t make any sense. But if all of this was real…

By what and for what purpose did I return?

If I try to remember the situation before I returned, it was even more difficult to understand.

I have spent three miserable years trapped inside this god-forsaken gate. In these three years, I met a group of hunters, made friends with them, and we tried to clear the gate together. I also discovered some hidden secret that I wished I can forget.

In the end, I survived but not without sacrifices.

After my escape, I was bombarded by various recruitment messages from large-scale guilds. I was just too exhausted. As a rookie who has proven my ability through surviving inside the world’s most dangerous gate, my value sky rocketed without me even noticing. However, I rejected all the invitations and joined an ordinary guild.

The defiants.

It was the guild which a hunter called Pyo Hye-Won founded while we were inside the Gate. Although she didn’t make it out alive…

I learned a lot from her, when I was still trapped inside. So after she died, her younger brother Pyo Yeon-won took over, and I remained in Yeokcheon1 to help him out carry on Pyo Hye-won’s legacy.

I still remember who the real enemies were in the gate, as they’ve already left some psychological shadows on me.

I’ve fought with them for countless times.

I’ve even grown to hate that pointy-eared guy who I considered my arch enemy. As he has been fighting with me for too long. In the end, we risked everything on a decisive battle. I was even standing at the forefront.

Pyo-Yeon-won tried to persuade me not to go. However, I had no choice but to go. Clearing this gate has become my obsession. It’s just became my life purpose and the reason while I’m still standing.

In the end, after that decisive battle, I was stabbed in the chest by that pointy-eared guy. Although, I can still remember his strangely distorted expressions…

I expected death to come after that. Everything was such a vivid memory. I closed my eyes resigning to my end. I waited patiently for death…

But it didn’t come.

Could It be that I miraculously survived and has been in a comatose state? Then while I’m at it, my brain decided to play tricks on me and made up all these?

Did I really regressed?

But… Everything here was just too vivid to be an illusion…

I started clenching my fists. My nails dug into my palms. The feeling of the wind brushing my cheeks and the sound of grass insects chirping around can be replicated. If I’m trapped in an illusion, or was hit by a skill, it was possible. But…

[Unique Skill Activating…]

«Spacial Interference»

As soon as I activated the skill, I felt the familiar sensation rising from my toes.

How can anyone replicate this sensation?

Every Information about the space I created was engraving into my mind like a blueprint.

Is there an illusion that can manipulate vast amount of information, enough to form even the slightest detail?

Frankly, it doesn’t matter whether this is real or not. Whether I returned or not, there’s only one fact remaining.

My benefactor who was also mentor was still alive.

Real or not, I will never let her die in front of me again.

Saving her from this place may be a way for me to atone for my sins.

If I can see her living and breathing in front of me. Even if this is just a fantasy I made up in my head.

I would gladly sink into it.

***

I have to focus on the task at hand. I need to know if everyone I knew who died back then, was still alive. With this opportunity, I can make a different choice and try to save them. This is why, I need to act alone, and freely.

First, I’d take them to the Indoor Gym, then I’d try to check if that person is there.

And if that person is there….

My eyelids started drooping down slowly while I was making my plan. I can see the stars twinkling down at me, as if smiling.

Ah I’m probably dreaming already.

TL NOTE:

Hiya~

Seo-Ha was finally able to settle down, and analyze her current situation. I also, want to know whether she’s in an illusion, simulation, or whether she’s really in a coma. Anyways, I can’t wait to see her seeing her old pals again!

I’ll post chapters daily from now on. I’m going to take advantage of the Christmas vacation. ಠ◡ಠ
