Chapter 3 Part 2: Departure

The Next morning, at least Two-thirds of the survivors chose to leave with me. Everyone I spoke with yesterday followed as well. Although It wasn’t intentional, but it seemed that the way I spoke in a confident manner yesterday, must have left them quite the impression.

I packed up enough supplies for this journey. After that, I slightly removed the vinyl covering from the collapsed wall and went outside. Tension hung in the air and a devastated scene unfolded before our eyes.

“Ugh…”

Someone from the group vomited. Corpses were scattered everywhere. Body parts, with missing meat like, limbs and heads rolled around. Probably the leftovers of some monsters after having a feast. This scene was quite familiar but also very repulsive.

“Base on the traces left behind by the monster, this is probably done by a wind raker1.”

Nail marks were clearly visible on every corner, and the concrete walls were crushed like tofu. Everyone’s faces turned extremely ugly, due to this frightening realization.

Fortunately, there were no monsters on the supermarket,
so we didn’t run into anything until we left the area. Everyone was clearly nervous. They were hoping that we don’t encounter any wind raker. However, although wind rakers could make their body transparent, it could not hide its presence or sound. There were debris everywhere,  therefore it’s next to impossible for it to move around without making some sort of noise. So there’s no need to be nervous.

“Miss…”

“What the heck is this…”

When we finally came out of the supermarket, things got even worse. The place looked like it had been swept away by the storm. Buildings are half-destroyed, trees uprooted and scattered across the ground. There were bloodstains everywhere, but we tried to ignore it.

Whinggggg…

We then heard a high-pitched whistling sound, passing by. I then caught a glimpse of something from a distance. Red blood Thin wings enclosed by a membrane. It has a peculiar appearance.

It seemed like the world was destroyed.

The wind carrying crisp grains of sand hit my face. Yes, after facing this situation, everything is clearer now. I was dragged back to this hellish place. Before I could finally start anew, I was dragged back into this familiar supermarket again.

“What was that just now?”

Kwon Seong-min asked with a pale face.

“…A Poisonous Red Wasp.” I answered.

Whinggggg… Whinggggg…

We heard a loud buzzing noise again. The sound was growing nearer then it stopped.

Poisonous Red Wasp. As you can guess from its bloody name, it was a very deadly monster with poison attached to its stinger. It looks quite similar to a bee, but it’s not a bee, so unlike bees it won’t die conveniently after stinging it’s target.

“Then does it work like a poison needle?”

“Nope. The stinger of the wasp is for stabbing. It also rotates, so it’s closer to a drill than a needle.”

As if to prove my words, The red wasp started drilling holes on the walls of the supermarket.

“Arggghhhh…”

Someone left their luggage and ran towards the warehouse. But that’s stupid. Even monsters have their own territory. The Supermarket apparently belonged to the Wind Rakers. However, I can’t see any signs of them, and it seems that the wasps has invaded this territory in that case…

“The corpse of the Earth General monster is attracting monsters around the area.”

This barren land was not only harsh on humans but also monsters. Monsters are always hungry, so they always fight each other for food. I don’t know what it’s like now, but by evening, that warehouse will be flooded by monsters.

“Ugh, what should we do? Damn, soon, the wall will be drilled through!”

Lee Chan-song shouted while swearing. As per his words, the wasp’s drill-like stinger was finally visible at our end of the wall. But should I say we’re lucky? That Poisonous Red Wasp is also an F-class monster. The reason why they are F-class is because they were easy to kill.

Weaknesses are also very apparent. Its Stinger is used for attack. It’s like a glass sword, it’s powerful when attacking, but its defense was extremely low.

“Everyone Hide!”

People hid themselves behind the stalls of the supermarket or behind the collapsed ceiling, and wall debris. It’s clumsy, but it should be fine for now.

-Wheeying!

The wall broke out and the Red Wasp finally entered the supermarket. The transparent wings rubbed against each other, creating a distinct resonant sound. Red Wasps will communicate with each other using that sound. But, for us, it’s just the noise of horror.

The best-case scenario is that the wasps would head straight to the warehouse without noticing us.The inside of the supermarket is littered with human corpses, so they won’t be able to notice our smell.

The wasp folded its wings and landed on the ground. The creepy legs crawled forward in close cooperation. It lightly poked a limb rolling on the floor with its antennae and then passed by. It seemed to have its fill before it arrived?

Sasasakkk

the wasp slowly walked away. Everyone’s breathing was stagnated. I held the hem of my clothes close to my chest in case It can hear my heart beating.

In the suffocating silence, when the red wasp had almost passed by.

-Ecccchwiii!

The Poisonous Red Wasp stopped abruptly. A chilly silence descended upon the supermarket again. The tension was heightened, and in an instant, it flew up.

-Clank

A frying pan fell with a bang, it ran towards the source of the sound.

Damn it!

Clank!

There were sounds of metal pieces colliding each other. Fortunately, it seems that Kim Tae-byeong was right beside it.

He’s a tank specialist. He seemed to utilize the iron plate that was given to him earlier, into fair use. He threw the iron plate away, as soon as a hole was drilled into the frying pan.

Clank!

“Roll aside!”

He instinctively threw himself aside after hearing me. At that instant drilled holes appeared where Kim Tae-byung stood.

TL NOTE:

That was intense!

We finally got some action. Also, I wonder how those people from the warehouse are faring. ಠ◡ಠ Do you think the wasps have eaten the wind rakers? I’m actually quite excited! So see you next chapter
