Samise, a beautiful city, has tall buildings, flower gardens, fountains, and a huge airship base. Located in the western part of the island of Aska, Samise is a city of explorers, the headquarters of the Skyscrapers stands firmly in this city and many explorers live here. Even so, I can still find ordinary citizens passing by on the side of the road.

The appearance of the townspeople was very different from the appearance of the villagers.  The male residents wore all black clothes, ranging from suits, pants, gloves, to fedora hats. While the female wears long dresses, gloves, ribbons, and patterned umbrellas.  They look fashionable and dignified.

This difference does not reflect the economic disparity between urban and rural residents.  The people of the city were required to wear nice clothes. Security guards will lend fashionable clothes for free to people who can't afford it.  If anyone walks through the city in ugly clothes, then a prison sentence of three months awaits.

The regulation was made to prevent beggars from begging in the city. This solution is proven to be able to overcome the problem of the proliferation of beggars. Who would want to give money to a person in fancy dress.

....

I watched the activities of the explorers from inside the horse-drawn carriage, they carried their goods, played cards at the guard post, ate at the roadside stalls, and lined up near the sidewalks. There was also a group of explorers escorting an artillery wagon pulled by four elephants.

I want to know how they will react when my mother gets out of this horse carriage, surely they will be surprised and salute. It’s easy to guess.

In the eyes of other people, my mother is a more sinister figure than a monster, she is famous for her madness in killing, everyone in this world calls her the angel of death. I have never seen my mother commit atrocities, I still see her as a gentle and loving woman.

....

I turned to the right, glanced at my mother who was focusing her eyes on the window of the horse-drawn carriage, she seemed to be enjoying the trip, she rolled her eyes and sat back with her left leg crossed. I quietly shifted my sitting position to the right, then looked at the same window, it turned out that she was watching the landing of a fighter airship which was badly damaged.

One propeller and part of the hull had been destroyed, the airship equipped with a 406mm cannon also suffered a severe fire. People at the air base were coughing because the air there had been polluted by black smoke.

Airbase officers struggled to tame the fire who was still melting the ship’s iron with water hoses. Hundreds of burnt crew members were evacuated by rescue teams, their bodies covered in black cloth and lined up in an open field. Meanwhile, dozens of crew members who survived were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, they suffered serious burns.

“What a mess....” Those were the first words I said after seeing the air battleships returning from the Reliquia tower.

“How could such a formidable looking airship take such a heavy damage?” I asked, tilting my head to the right.

“The ship was attacked by the legendary dragon, Aeroc. The monster attacks by spitting magma capable of melting steel. Aeroc’s habitat is at an altitude of 5,000-10,000 meters and becomes a frightening specter for airship crews,” answered my mother.

“Oh. If we met the dragon Aeroc while exploring the Reliquia tower, would you be able to defeat it?” I asked, tilting my head to the left.

My mother turned to me, then she stroked my hair and returned a question mark in a soft voice, “What do you think?”

“Of course mother can defeat the dragon Aeroc.” I’ve asked a stupid question, my mother is a woman who is nicknamed the angel of death, how could she not be able to fight the legendary dragon.

“You’re wrong...” my mother smiled a little, “Aeroc will fly high when he feels threatened and attack from the air, I can’t reach him when he is in the sky, even with Roseliet’s power. If we meet the dragon Aeroc, we will run away and hiding.”

I was dumbfounded after hearing that, “I-I see, huh.”

“Don’t worry, before traveling to the Reliquia tower, I will deploy dozens of combat airships to hunt down Aeroc.”

“Does that mean you are using other people’s lives for the smooth running of our journey?”  I asked in a low voice.

“Right. You want to protest?” My mother glanced at me sharply.

“N-No. Ristia will keep quiet.” I immediately lowered my head when she put on a very scary glance.

I was reminded of another rumor about my mother. According to an old newspaper I read in her private room, when she was in the special forces of the Van Dean kingdom, my mother had killed Van Dean soldiers, then piled their bodies together so that she could get out of the pitfalls made by the separatists.  In addition, she once used her partner as a living shield to withstand the rain of arrows when fighting against the Kejasari kingdom.

King Van Dean himself did not bring my mother to justice, she was instead welcomed as a hero for slaughtering a separatist group that threatened the Van Dean kingdom and succeeded in killing King Kejasari.

King Van Dean did not dare to mess with my mother, he was afraid of a coup by her, it became an open secret of the Van Dean public.

My mother hates greedy people, but her actions are worse than greedy humans. There must be a reason behind her actions, I still believe that my mother is a kind person, she always helps the small people and stops the world war to prevent destruction.

....

After traveling for two hours, we were finally at the Skyscraper’s headquarters. In the courtyard stands the statue of the Commander in Chief, then lots of flags with the symbol of the eagle flying in the corner of the building.

I, who was still in the horse carriage, was amazed to see the Skyscraper headquarters yard, this was the first time I saw the grass that was cut with such precision, so that the grass in the yard looked like a green rug.

My mother grabbed my right hand and led me out of the carriage. Our luggage was brought by the coachman and will be handed over to the luggage storage located near the entrance of the headquarters.

Our arrival was greeted by the explorers, they lined up outside the red carpet, holding their swords at chest level.

My mother walked leisurely on the red carpet, while I walked behind her. I watched the explorers who greeted us, they were like statues, not showing any movement of body and blinking of their eyes. I stopped in front of a burly explorer and waved my left hand, he didn’t respond at all, maybe with a little punch he would make a move, but I can’t be violent, my mother will definitely scold me, so I decided to ignore the explorers who were pretending to be statues and followed my mother again.

....

Inside the headquarters of the Skyscraper, it was much more beautiful than the courtyard, we were in a lobby with a tiled floor, then there was a chandelier and a miniature Reliquia tower placed in a glass case.

In this room called the lobby there are a lot of explorers, they are receiving missions and taking care of important documents. The explorers were served by 10 beautiful and sexy female receptionists. Masher explorers will muster a million seductions to lure the receptionists.

At first, the people in the lobby were focused on their own business, but after they found out where my mother was, they immediately lined up, straightened up, and saluted.

“Welcome, Your Majesty, Mrs. Lestari!” Greet everyone in the lobby.

My mother raised her right hand, then lowered it again, at once the people broke up and went on with their work. I admired my mother, she was respected by various circles for her talents and achievements. I would love to follow in her footsteps. I want to be respected by people too. However, my talent is really pathetic, which is eating, sleeping in my room all day, reading a book every day, and defecating. This kind of talent is completely useless. I’d rather carve my own footprints. Respected or not, I don’t care, the important thing is that I can eat until I’m full and live a quiet life.

....

We climbed the circular staircase, then walked down a long hallway. We are on the 20th floor now, I can see the view of the city of Samise through the window that extends to the corner of the hall. This view is able to spoil my eyes, I can see the birds flying between the tall buildings and watch the airships break through the overcast clouds.

In addition, I can see the tower of Reliquia from a fairly close distance. My eyes found the small buildings in the Reliquia tower, they raised and lowered the gondola in the shape of a birdcage. The explorers seemed to take advantage of the gondola, they were not interested in climbing the foot of the tower because it was a waste of energy and time.

There are many ways to enter the Reliquia tower area, one of which is jumping from an airship using a parachute. However, this method should only be done by a professional parachutist. If an amateur is desperate to jump using a parachute, then he will be carried away by the wind and land in a location that can take his life.

Actually, I’ve always wanted to jump in a parachute and feel the sensation of flying with the seagulls, but my mother wouldn’t let me, a miracle if she agreed to my wish.

....

“Ristia, go into that room and wait there. I will have a meeting with the Generals.” My mother pointed at the door on the left side of the hall.

“Okay mom.” I nodded and walked towards the door my mother meant, when I opened it, I didn’t see anyone inside, there was only a table and chairs by the window.

This room is quite narrow, dusty, and lots of cobwebs. Actually, I don’t want to wait in a place like this, this room looks boring, but there is no other choice, I sit nicely on the chair and fold my arms on the table so as not to be scolded by my mother.

“You can’t leave this room. If someone comes in, just beat them up, understand?”

“Understood.”

My mother closed the door of the room and left me alone in this gloomy place.
