My mother reminded me to always temper my anger when I was in a difficult situation, but I didn’t listen to her. If only I had stayed in the house, maybe incident in the pletau would never have happened. Indirectly I have killed Satrio, he died because of my desire to touch the outside world. I have made a big mistake.

....

“Liet, torkem!”

I heard my mother’s voice, she was on my right. I was already conscious, but I couldn’t see my mother because my eyes wouldn’t open. I also have difficulty speaking, my mouth feels like something is stuck.

Maybe something had happened to my body, I felt myself lying on a flat, hard, cold object. I couldn’t move because my body either and felt very heavy. In addition, both my hands and feet felt like they were being pulled by strong chains.

"Blum o Roza!" My mother pressed hard against my chest, she unsheathed a dull gray stone, then hit me in the forehead. The stone split into two pieces and the powder grains fell onto my eyelids.

My mother pulled me and slapped my face hard, my eyes suddenly opened wide and I accidentally vomited herbs from my mouth.  Her slap didn't hurt, but it left a red mark on my face.

"You're finally awake," my mother said, exhausted.

My mother woke me up in a really rude way, she had never used violence before, she only nagging when she scolded me.

"...." I don't know what to say, my head feels heavy and can't finish the regret that still haunts me.

I was in the basement, the room was quite dark, only a few candles were the source of light.

I saw a lot of bookshelves and mysterious tools arranged on the wall, this place was not a practice arena, but a room that my mother kept selight In the past, my mother had scolded me for touching the door of the room located next to the practice room, she said that the place was very forbidden and cursed, she would tie me to the clothesline if she touched the door again.

The dust grains made my eyelids itch, I raised my right hand to scratch it, but my right hand was wrapped in chains. Spontaneously, I turned to my left and saw that my left hand was chained, not only my hands, my legs were also chained.

“What is this!?” I screamed, struggling, trying to free myself from the chains that bound my hands and feet.

Not long after, I realized that my body was naked and had dozens of white papers inscribed with ancient letters on it, besides that my body was sprinkled with red rose petals.

I don’t know what my mother did to me, she laid me down and chained me on the altar, then under the altar was a very strange ancient circle. Looks like my mother did some kind of ritual.

“Calm down, son...” my mother covered me with a green cloth, “nothing to worry about, mother didn’t do anything dangerous.”

“Mother, why am I in this room chained to the altar?” I asked, tilting my head to the right.

“It’s a long story, there’s no time to explain. The point is mom is doing recovery to bring you back to consciousness.”

My mother walked slowly to the corner of the altar and let go of the chains that bound my hands and feet.

“I see, how long have I been unconscious for?”

“Seven days,” my mother replied, mixing something on the wooden table.

“A week!?” I didn’t think I’d lose consciousness that long.

“Yeah, if mom doesn’t recover, you won’t be conscious for 1 year.”

“J-Joking right?”

“Does this mother’s tone still seem joking!?”  My mother stopped mixing and scolded me.  Instantly, I fell silent when I heard his loud voice.

My mother grumbled, then continued to mix on the table.  She added a little water, then poured a spoonful of green powder into the mixture and a chemical reaction took place. The concoction was poured into a cup and given to me.

“Drink this,” my mother pleaded, holding out the cup at me.

“Okay mom.” I drank the concoction water, it tasted a little bitter, my face was wrinkled because I couldn’t stand the bitter taste.

This concoction is very effective, the effect can be felt in a matter of minutes, my body feels lighter now, I can stand stably.

My mother came out of this room in a hurry, she didn’t say anything to me, so I didn’t dare to leave the room and chose to sit at the altar.  A few minutes later, my mother came back and she brought a small wooden crate.

The chest contains an explorer uniform complete with its components.

“Put on this uniform right now.” My mother asked me to wear it. Actually I didn’t want to wear it, but I didn’t want to upset my mother, so I had to wear the dark green uniform.

The size of this uniform is perfect for my small body, it feels very comfortable, it seems like my mother made it especially for me.  However, these uniforms are numerous, namely thick shirts, thick trousers, light green coats, gloves, light helmets and ankle-high black shoes.

The explorer uniform is designed to withstand the cold temperatures in the Reliquia tower, the material is made of a thick version of flannel, this type of material is able to trap air and heat, so it can warm the body. In addition, the first floor of the Reliquia tower is a dense forest, which is why the explorer uniform is dark green, very useful for hiding from fierce monsters.

“Prepare yourself Ristia, after this we will have a long journey,” said my mother, while wearing a white coat.

“Where are we going, mother?”

“We are going to explore the Reliquia tower, there is someone I want to meet there, that person is able to heal you.”

“Mom, I don’t feel sick, I’m fine,” I argued.

“It’s true that you look healthy on the outside, but from the inside, you are dying. Your soul is fading from not being able to accommodate the great power, you will die within a year’s time.”

“I-I don’t understand, why is my power actually killing me?”

“Your body which is still very weak has not been able to accommodate a large amount of strength, then anger can awaken the power that resides in your body, that’s why I always reminds you to keep your anger at the lowest point.”

“Huh? Why? Why didn’t you tell me about this a long time ago? If I had known my anger was so dangerous, I would have buried my anger. All this time I thought mom’s warning was just bullshit, because I didn’t understand, I had to obey the warning that seemed  vague and unreasonable, utterly ridiculous.”

“It’s useless, if I told you this from the start, you wouldn’t believe it. Now is the right time to tell the truth, because you have experienced it yourself and you will believe what I say.”

“....” I fell silent when I heard my mother’s words.

My mother approached me and lowered her body, then she held my shoulders and spoke in a soft voice, “Ristia, what makes you doubt my warning?”

“It’s not that I doubt it, I’m just thinking rationally,” I replied, quietly, lowering my head and fiddling with my fingers.

“You are indeed a brat, but I like the way you think,” my mother smiled sweetly, then she stood back up and walked slowly towards the exit, “collect the things in the warehouse, we will go to Samise town.”

“Okay mom.”

....

The big clock in the living room showed 12.30 in the afternoon. I stopped walking and looked out the window. Overcast clouds seemed to be moving to dominate the sky, blocking the rays of the parent star, the wind was blowing hard and flying dry leaves into the sky, this atmosphere really describes what’s in my mind right now, I am hit by a very deep guilt, I can see the shadows of Satrio who was killed in front of me  This nightmare will always haunt me.

....

The storage room is located on the first floor, very close to the kitchen. This room, which is usually called a warehouse, stores various kinds of goods, such as exploration equipment, food, herbs, weapons, and firewood.

In general, the warehouse is a dirty abandoned place, but the warehouse in my house is cleaned every day, so that not a single grain of dust and cobwebs contaminates the room.

My mother told me to collect some exploring equipment and herbs in the storage room, after which she put the things I had collected into a large dark green bag. A few moments later, my mother approached me who was standing in the corner of the room, she gave me a kind of belt to carry a sword scabbard and arrow case.

I put on the belt, then turned to my mother, “Is there anything else I should wear?”

Immediately my mother threw a sling that was useful for carrying a spear on her back, “Wear this, then bring a sword, bow, spear, and 50 arrows. Understand?”

“Understood,” I replied, listlessly.

I walked over to the armory, then took out the four types of weapons my mother mentioned.  It looks like these weapons will become my companions on the next trip, so I’ll choose weapons that are still of good quality. I tapped the body of the sword, pulled the bowstring, gently pressed the sharp tip of the spear, and paid close attention to the sharpness of the arrow.

“Excellent, I believe these weapons are capable of dealing a meaningful attack.” I nodded my head, then put all the weapons into the place I had provided.

Then, I approached my mother who was packing a small green tent, and said, “Everything has been well prepared, mother.”

“Good. Please carry that big bag, we will be leaving soon,” said my mother, as she took the folding tent and walked towards the exit.

“M-Mother....” I tugged at her white coat with my right hand, holding him out of the storage room.

“What?” My mother didn’t turn around, she kept her position facing the exit.

“What about the condition of my friend?” I asked, lowering my head and touching my own forehead with my left hand.

My mother glanced back, she took a deep breath, then replied, “Satrio? He—“

I asked a question I already knew the answer to.  I just want to reassure my feelings that the Satrio really died at the hands of Krille and as a result my tears flowed because my feelings had trusted me.

Even though I haven’t finished talking, this child is crying. My mother thought.

“M-Mom, I feel guilty....” My voice wasn’t very clear, because I said it while sobbing.

“If you feel guilty, then don’t think about it, you will torture yourself. You better turn your guilt into a lesson, so you don’t repeat the same mistakes again....”

“Y-Yes.”  I nodded my head.

“I don’t want you to be sad. Wipe your tears right now.”

“Okay, mother. Ristia promises not to repeat the same mistake and Ristia will not make Satrio’s sacrifice in vain.” I salute passionately.  My eye bags are swollen from crying.

“Sounds good, but don’t get too excited, Reliquia is not friendly, lots of obstacles and monsters will get in the way.”

“Understood, mother,” I said, nodding my head and wiping the mucus out of my nose.
