Our goal is to reach the exploration camp which is at an altitude of 305 meters above sea level, there we will update the food stock.  However, according to my mother's analysis, we will arrive at the explorer camp within 4 days.  My mother has not been able to climb the cliff because her left arm is still not healed, so we walked around to the south, there is an alternative route to a height of 200 meters.

We are currently at an altitude of 170 meters above sea level.  The forest we went through was really quiet, I didn't hear the sound of insects or the footsteps of someone around, I couldn't even hear my own mother's footsteps.  My ears only found the melody of the wind whistling loudly.

According to the book about the Reliquia tower I read, the forest at an altitude of 170-190 meters is called the deaf forest.  This forest is always silent, even if I scream as loud as I can, people around me won't be able to hear it, it is one of the strange phenomena in the Reliquia tower.  Within this deaf forest the sounds of animate creatures could not be heard, including the sound of insects and the stomping of feet.  In other words, the deaf forest falls into the category of a dangerous zone, because the presence of insects and demon worship groups cannot be detected by the ear.  Skyscrapers use body language or sign language to communicate in deaf forest areas.

For a while, my mother and I communicated using body language.  I have mastered several types of gestures since childhood.  In the past, my mother played a game that required the players not to speak.  So, indirectly I learned sign language with my mother.

For me, walking in this forest is very risky, if I become an enemy, I will use this location to carry out sneak attacks.  However, my mother said that we will be fine when we go through this deaf forest, actually I don’t agree with her, I want to oppose, but I don’t want to be lectured.

While in the deaf forest, this is my chance to make fun of my mother, I will reply to her chatter that hurts my ears with a song, “My mother is a duck maniac, quack!  Quack! Every day looking at pictures of ducks, quack! Quack! She really wants to raising ducks, quack! Quack! But she afraid that the duck will be eaten by me, quack! Quack!”

“Ristia....” My mother turned back and looked at me sarcastically.

“Ah....” Now I’m in a very very dire situation, we are still in the forest of deafness, but I can hear my mother’s voice calling my name.  I was shocked when I heard that, my face started to be covered in sweat and my body was shaking with horror.

“Now we are at an altitude of 191 meters. We are out of the forest area of deafness, I can hear your duck singing.”  My mother showed me the results of the Otometer measurement.

Slowly I glanced at my mother who was standing in front of me, she looked at me with sharp eyes, I closed my eyes and lowered my head, then said in a languid tone, “I’m sorry.”

My mother approached me, then she pressed my cheek with both hands simultaneously, as a result my lips turned like a duck. “Say quack again,” my mother pleaded, she pouted and rolled her eyes.

“Quamwack-quamwack!....” Damn, I hate to be toyed with like this.  The heart’s intention to reply to my mother’s noisy chatter, instead plunged into a gloomy pit, you bastard, it seems I have been hit by a bad luck.

“How does it feel to be like a duck? It’s fun, isn’t it?”  my mother asked, she pressed hard against my cheek.

"Nomt fumn at amll! Getm youmr hamds off my famce!"

"I refuse. You look adorable. I will keep pressing your face like this until you regret what you did," said my mother, smiling a little.

“All rigmht! Now I remgret it, momther. Pleamse stop it!"

“I smelled imperfect remorse. So I won’t spare you.”

"Homw do you complemte remgret, momther?"

"Say quack-quack again."

“Quamwaaaack! Quamwaaaack!”  I heeded my mother’s request, I couldn’t stand my face being pressed like this, I shouted loudly while imitating the sound of a duck.

“Very good. Ristia, once again you repeat the same act, then I will hang your body on the edge of the cliff.”  My mother removed her hands from my face.

“Sorry, mom. Ristia promised not to do it again.”  I looked down languidly, from the outside I looked like someone who really regretted her actions.  However, actually I have no regrets at all, I actually thought of new material to make fun of my mother.

“Oh my. It turns out that your regrets are still not perfect, you must be planning something bad.”

“How did you know!?”  I accidentally asked that because I didn’t believe my mother could guess my thoughts.

“That look on your face shows that you’re contemplating a rotten plan that smells better than a rat carcass,” my mother replied, she narrowed her eyes and frowned.

“No way, Ristia is a kind and devoted child to parents, Ristia can’t possibly plan something evil.”  I grin widely.

“If hanging on the edge of a cliff doesn’t make you feel the deterrent effect, then I won’t cook you or buy you fried rice anymore,” my mother threatened.

“WHAT!?”  I was shocked when my mother said that, part of my life seemed to float to the realm of peace, I really couldn’t believe she would issue such a deadly threat, she managed to make my tears well up.

“Please mother, Ristia is willing to accept all punishments, as long as I don’t separate myself from fried rice! I really love a dish called fried rice! I can’t feel calm if my tongue is not in direct contact with fried rice!”  I knelt before my mother.  I wept bitterly.  Mucus in my nose to overflowing uncontrollably, I pulled my mother’s white coat, then blew my nose mucus there.

Insolent child.  My mother thought, annoyed.

After fighting tongues for a long time, we continued our journey and were in a foggy place, this location was very gloomy, there were no trees or bushes, the ground was very dry, there was a lot of dust and there were large black rocks that emitted a strong smell.

“Mom always takes me to sad places,” I said, plugging my nose with my right hand.

“The whole place in the Reliquia tower is pathetic, kid. So you can’t complain.”

“Even though according to the book about the Reliquia tower, there are some places in this tower that are beautiful...”

“It’s beautiful when you look at it from the outside, when you look at it from the other side, the place the book refers to is really sad, kid.”

“Hmmm. Then why are people interested in the Reliquia tower? The places in this tower are all pathetic.”

“People are attracted to the natural resources in this tower, kid. Only a handful of people really like Reliquia and want to unravel its mysteries.”

“So, which side are you on? Interested in natural resources or a Reliquia lover?

“I am not on either side. I only carrying out my duties as Commander of the Skyscrapers, which is to take care of natural resources and maintain world peace.”

“Now that you are here, with me in this great tower, then what about your duties, mother?”

“Your uncle does mom’s chores, he’s a bitch, but he’s reliable.”

“He’s a good big brother too.”  I gently elbowed my mother’s right hand.

My mother grumbled.  “Not good, he is the worst big brother in this world.”

“Hmmm. I’m ashamed to admit it, right?”  I asked so with a mocking smile.

“That’s all right. This conversation has become meaningless, you better shut up.”

“No, Ristia still wants to ask mother something.”

“What do you want to ask?”

“My question is a little sensitive, don’t be angry, okay, mother.”

“Since when did I become temperamental, kid?”  My mother asked, she rolled her eyes.

“I mean, don’t be lectured, hehe.”

“Don’t worry. Quickly ask.”

“Why do you like sacrificing people’s lives for your own sake? Like the case of the pitfalls and the rain of arrows on the battlefield.”  After asking this question, I immediately closed my eyes and plugged my ears using my index finger, I was willing to accept the deadly ravings of my mother.

“Open your eyes and ears.”

“A-Alright.”  I obeyed my mother’s request.

“Where did you get the information about mother’s past?”

“From an old newspaper... Ristia found it lying on the floor of your room, mother.”

“Ristia, don’t swallow information from the news media, they are only looking for profit, they exaggerate something without including the truth so that their newspaper sells well.”

“Ristia never swallowed the information from the old newspaper. Ristia believes that mother did it for some reason, not on purpose.”

“My daughter is really smart....” My mother stroked my head gently, smiling sweetly.  After that, he explained to me, “I killed and used the corpses of Van Dean soldiers as a pedestal to get out of the trap hole because they tried to rape me. Then, the person whom my mother used as a shield when the arrows were attacked was a traitor who received bribes from Kejasari Kingdom.”

“Oh, I see. I think mother is innocent, trash like them deserves death.”

“I had evidence and many eyewitnesses at that time, so I could be freed from the grip of the military court. In addition, King Van Dean defended me, but because of premature information from the news media, some people thought that the King did not dare to punish me and he nicknamed the King of Losers by a few shallow-brained people.”

“Too bad, if I were a mother, I would destroy the news media with my fists.”

“It’s not that easy, kid. Van Dean is the kingdom of law, using violence doesn’t apply there. So, you can’t just flatten the rotten media.”

“Then it’s just a matter of time, mother. The law of karma will befall them.”

“Their company was bankrupt a long time ago, kid.”

“Oh, then that’s good, hahaha.”  I laughed, crossing my arms in front of my chest.

“Yes, that’s good.”

“While in the horse-drawn carriage, you said would take the lives of the crew of the combat airship, do you have any reason behind it, mom?”  I asked myself, tilting my head to the right.

“There is no particular reason, kid. Those who are members of the Skyscrapers are willing to risk their lives. They sacrificed their citizenship status, left their families back home, just for the sake of money and unraveling the mystery of the Reliquia tower.”

“I see. I understand, from now on I must respect the explorers.”

“Ristia, you must respect all noble-hearted people, not just explorers.”

“Understood. Hehehe.”

“Ristia, let’s end this conversation, we have to focus on the forest on top of the cliff, then we will build a tent there. The sky is cloudy again, we have to hurry,” said my mother, she pointed to the top of the cliff with her right index finger.

“Okay, mother!”  I salute and grin widely.
