“Let’s take some rest, tomorrow will be quite busy with our families coming over again.”

Your families, Dante… My family doesn’t care enough.” Thomas responded.

*The next day*

I had a good and delightful sleep. My headache seemed to have vanished, as well. It was still early in the morning, I surmised, as soon as I arose from my bed, the physician walked in, bearing a platter of bread, accompanied by butter, and cheese. In addition, he brought a teapot and two cups.

“Good morning, Dante.”

“Good morning.”

“Here, have some breakfast.” He said as he laid everything on a large table.

"No thank you, I shall consume this fare later. I require some fresh air."

“That is alright, then I will leave this here. But make sure to eat, Dante. You truly need to augment your weight."

Such a statement is quite unprofessional for a physician to impart to his patient...

“I suppose so.”

I walked out of our chamber, and into the corridor. The sun was shining brightly through the windows, the wind seemed to be quite strong judging from how vividly the leaves moved on the trees. But suddenly, I remembered Anabelle. Her room... 0-5 was it not?

It was on the same floor as my room, 0-10, I surmised that I only needed to traverse five doors in order to reach her room.

I walked, and walked, the corridor was quite tranquil. Nobody was around, it brought me a feeling of serenity just because of how quiet and peaceful it was. As if the hospital had been abandoned, and the only ones left were me and Thomas. That's how much I felt the absence of the environment.

I reached room 0-5.

I gently knocked before slowly opening it.

“Uhm, Anabelle…?”

“So you’ve come.”

It was her, she sat on her bed, with a wrinkled piece of paper in her hands as she was writing something on it. Her legs crossed on each other's, dressed in white patient clothing. Her eyes lightened up as she lifted her head towards me.

“Can I come in?” I queried.

“Of course, you may…”

I just realized that I hadn't come here with any particular purpose, my body just moved on its own...

“Are you here alone? You don’t have a room-mate?” I asked.

“No, I don’t. It’s only me, because of my condition…”

“Oh, okay…”

"Say, Dante, let's head outside. I truly need to behold that beautiful view again..."

“Yes, let’s go.”

“So, how long have you been here already?” I asked.

“Not too long, it’s been a few months. It’s truly a place of solitude.”

"I can concur with that. Everything seems quite absent."

“Say, Anabelle.”

“Yes?”

“Yesterday, I had some visitors.”

“Yes…?”

“But at one point, I thought that I saw you peeking into the room, it kind of startled me, but was it really you?”

“…..”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Dante.”

Perhaps it was simply my imagination, I suppose...

“All right, then. Nevermind it.

"Do you also receive visitors, Anabelle?" I inquired.

"For me? No... not particularly. My butler visits me occasionally. He often imparts information of a trivial nature which holds little interest for me..."

“Oh? What about your family?” I queried.

“I despise my family.”

“…..”

"My family, more specifically my own household, are naught but a collection of egocentric aristocrats. They perceive those living in poverty as nothing more than refuse. I was forsaken as soon as I expressed empathy towards such individuals."

“I see…”

"I simply... wish for someone to bring an end to this execrable existence of mine." Anabelle exclaimed, as her gaze turned towards the sky.

“What? No, Anabelle, you have so much going for in your life…”

“I do not, Dante.”

“But…”

"I shall soon depart from this mortal plane. This ailment is taking my life away with each passing moment. I would rather exist in a realm that does not condone such an asymmetrical society."

"For all my life have I detested the conduct of my siblings and my parents. And ever since I was struck with this disease, no one was there to dry my tears. Even my butler was instructed not to attend to me as I was deemed nothing more than "A girl with the mind of a pig"."

“It’s been depressing, Dante…”

“I’m sorry, I don’t know why I’m telling you all about me.”

"No, Anabelle. Do not apologize. "

“…..” She responded in silence.

The location we stood upon was a small platform upon a mid-height cliff that overlooked a vast forest. The sunlight shining through it all, the clouds coating the sky and slightly obscuring the sun. I stood, and walked further along the platform, approaching the edge of the cliff.

“Anabelle…”

“Yes, Dante?”

With my legs firmly planted, the wind blowing through, rustling my garments and hair, I gazed at Anabelle over my shoulder.
