"Will you, will you, Dante..." she stammered through her sobs, tears streaming down her face. "These are the very words my brother imparted to me before his untimely demise."

"Your brother?" I queried, my heart racing as I perceived the gravity of the situation.

“Yes… He was killed… killed… they killed him… my parents, they KILLED HIM!”

"They took his life because of his convictions, and yet, they spared me. Why? Why did they not take me as well?"

The reality of the situation was staggering. I had never seen her in such a state of emotional turmoil. I moved closer to her and held her tightly, offering comfort as she wept uncontrollably. I couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility for her distress.

“Anabelle…”

"They killed him," she cried. "Because of his beliefs, they took away a soul so pure and kind. He only wished for a world where people were not judged based on their status, and yet, his life was taken for it."

In that moment, my hatred for those with malevolent intentions was ingrained in my soul. As she cried in my embrace, I felt a burning anger towards this unjust world.

"Dante, will you?" she asked, looking up at me with tear-stained eyes. "Will you make my brother's wish a reality?"

I held her hand onto my chest.

"I swear to you, I will bring his dream to fruition. I will shoulder every burden that comes my way. Anabelle, I promise you."

As I made this vow, I knew that the Devil himself was listening, and that my soul would not surrender without a fight against this oppressive world.

"That's a promise..." she whispered, her emotions finally calming.

Was it her emotions that have driven me?

Was it my resolve I had hidden underneath my heart that had finally been brought to life after all these years of seeing this type of discrimination?

My friends…

None of them, even Thomas had the courage to stand up. And I can’t finish this list without including myself.

Maybe, it was a relief, to have met someone that felt the same way about this world as I did.

Was that the only feeling I felt?

I’ve become so attracted to her, in such a short amount of time…

She lay still in my arms, seemingly cooling down, wiping the tears from her face. I couldn’t help but stare at her beautiful face, the sun bringing a beautiful contrast to her shiny eyes, and beautiful silver hair.

I didn’t want to disappoint her at that moment…

“Anabelle, look at the sky.” I said, pointing upwards.

As she followed my gaze, the clouds parted, revealing the clear blue sky.

“The clouds… They have opened the sky.”

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it, Dante…”

“…..”

As I gazed upon Dante, he stood resolutely against the tempestuous winds, with dear brother's silhouette beside him, providing a supportive hand, placing it on his shoulder.

“Anabelle, if I won’t do it, someone else will. Take my word up for it!”

Someone else…

Throughout my existence, I have mourned the pervasive discrimination that plagues our society. Had it not been for my unfortunate circumstances, I might have been able to aid my brother and potentially... even spare him from an untimely demise.

But…

Someone else has taken his place.

I know that he isn’t of a noble nature.

There is a mysterious quality about him that elicits an ethereal sensation within me. As if his desires were granted with supernatural ease.

This terrifies me, yet in a manner that is not wholly unpleasant. I sense that he is destined to accomplish great feats.

I…

I fell in love with him.
