Chapter 5: Chapter No 5: Dispute and Heartache.

I woke up late today maybe because I dead tired yesterday after completing a difficult task. I should apologize to her first. I was kind of rude last night and she was just worried about me.

I stood up from bed and change into clean clothes, washed my face. It was almost noon and breakfast time was over a long time ago and I will find Fiona at the counter alright I should go say sorry. Thinking that I went downstairs to look for her but I found a handsome looking guy who was in his early 20’s. he wore expensive looking clothes, he was almost 6 feet tall. But after scanning with my experienced eyes I found out that he was trashy and not a good person. You may say that I am only thinking like that cause I was jealous since he was a bit more handsome than me but trust me I have always had this intuition from which I know that who is a good person or bad it is mostly 80% correct, you can say it’s a gut feeling but what is he doing at this hour.

I look around and find Fiona at the kitchen and so I went to apologize to her but I stumbled upon her snd her father arguing about a something it turns out that guy wanted to get together with Fiona and came here and her father was convincing her to go out with the guy.

Fiona at least give mark a chance he is a small merchant and earns up to 100 gold a month you will be happy with him. He seems to have a stable income and isn’t an adventurer. Listening to her father Fiona’s face turned sour. It seems this adventurer’s stuff is her sore spot that’s why she was so adamant yesterday.

Father I know I said yes to your proposal but you should wait a bit we just had a conversation about this yesterday and now you have brought this guy. Plus I don’t like him

Listening to his daughter agreeing he went to that mark guy and I caught Fiona’s eye she was surprised and embarrassed that I saw what happened here. It seems the old man made a mistake in recognizing this guy. This guy is clearly wolf in a sheep clothing, he may look all prim and proper but he is not a good guy, my gut tells me this.

Yes I was pretty tired today so I took a day off and I just got up now and was looking for you to apologize for what happened and while I am at I wanted to get something to eat. I joked to lighten the mood a little.

Anyways forget what I was here for I heard what happened here and I want to suggest you something if you don’t mind me saying but don’t go with that guy he seems sketchy. I know your father is only looking for your happiness but trust me is it that guy. He may seem all gentlemanly but my instinct tells me this guy is not a good person you should stay away from him. He’s a bad person. I don’t know how an experienced person like your father made this mistake.

MAASH! She calls me angrily, are you badmouthing my father? Do you think my father is a fool, he knows who he is introducing to me. I may not like him but this is not a topic you should talk about. You don’t know anything about my father .This is a topic between my father and me. I am the one who decides what I want to do. And you don’t even know anything about me, you are just a normal kid who is playing adventurer. After saying that to me she looks at me with angry eyes. Those eyes of her looking at me with hate I don’t like them. It hurts.

Hahhahha I why am I a crying. I am just not a kid. Ah I am sorry Fiona I didn’t mean it like that I just don’t want you to be hurts after what happened to your husband, I don’t want you to be sad anymore. I didn’t mean to disrespect Mr. Jake I was just looking out for you. I say with bitter smile trying to pacify the situation a bit. But it seems it has backfired at me as Fiona gets angrier.

MAAASH! Fiona calls out loudly. Enough is enough. Not only are you disrespecting us but you are also spying  on us I thought you were a good person but it seems you actually are not just a 10 year old kid but someone who meddles on other people’s business didn’t your parents teach you that.

NO! At least not anymore I reply to her as I wipe my tears and put a bright smile. I am sorry I didn’t mean to disrespect you. I won’t talk about it I will actually leave this inn if you say so. As we pause at this strange atmosphere staring at each other someone breaks the silence and it’s not us but that mark guy.

Watching me so blatantly disrespect him, his face turns into a scowl and for a moment his true self leaks out. Oh! So you are an adventurer I have 2 E rank adventurer hired as well, he smirks at me. Ok Miss Fiona I will come back, good night for now saying that mark begins to out but not before giving me an ugly glare on the way back and whispering. Watch your back kid.

After mark goes out of the inn I also return to my room but not before giving Fiona a look in her eyes. It doesn’t mean anything I just want to how she looks at me. I go upstairs in my room get changed and went out not at adventurer’s guild but to the informers.

You can buy any kind of information in this city in the merchant’s guild. It is said that their information is always accurate. They provide information about safe routes and maps of jungles, cities, and far places or those that are not known to normal people. They also have basic info about famous people. But what people don’t know that they also have a black market information place where they sell any information about anything or anyone but the price is sky high but I need to go there and look up this mark guy.

 I go in twist and turn in the slums carefully and after looking around for a bit I found a run down dirty potion shop. There was no one except an old man looking like a total creep but he had sharp eyes. I went up to him. I need the positions I the back. The old man looked ast me one more and said go and bring what you need taking that as a clue I went to the back from which a tough looking guy leads me to the basement where I see few men sitting with their own small counters. They all wore a mask to hide their identities and just like them I am hiding my face with a mask as well.

Looking around a bit I walk up to one counter and sit down. Hello! What kind of information do you need? You need to pay first before getting the information. I need information about a merchant named mark Felix. Everything about what kind a person he is and about his personal life.

We have the information the fees will be 1 gold or 100 silvers. Yikes! It’s true that they say it’s expensive. Can’t you lower the price a little? No sir we have fixed prices. Its either you buy the information or not.

Ok I will give 100 silvers here. After checking that the amount was right he gave me a scroll and said, this is all the information regarding the merchant name Mark Felix. After getting the droll I began to read it and as I kept reading it I keep getting angrier and angrier.

Turns out I was right, too accurate at that. This guy is trash among trash. On surface he sells armory but his real business is illegal slave trading which is banned in this country and also the worst is that this creep has a record of 30 murders of women after raping them and keeping them as a slave I need to warn Fiona. As I run to inform her I came to a stop after this thought strikes me.

Will she believe me she will think ism just defaming him because he tried to humiliate me. No I need to keep her safe from this bastard without telling her anything or he’ll hurt her worse kill her and just thinking about him forcing himself on her makes my blood boil. I want to kill her but I can’t just go and kill that bitch or the authorities will put me to jail.

As I enter the an alleyway close the inn two goons shows themselves blocking my path from both end gehehheeh so you are the brat who disrespected our boss. Kid it’s your bad luck we will have to break your legs hahahh. They start to near me as they caught creepily from their disgusting mouths.
