Chapter 67: Never Take That Necklace Off, E!

Eden nodded. She wiped her tears and gathered questions to get true answers about her life. Eden kept hoping that the Miguel Grey they referred to was not her daddy but a werewolf or another human with the same name.

"Ace. May I ask a question?" Eden ventured to ask Ace. She wanted to hear that her dad wasn't a murderer. What else a murderer who was killing the parents of the man she loves.

"Of course, E."

"Miguel Grey, the one you asked Alex, what does he look like? And… why are you looking for him?" Eden's question made Ace raise an eyebrow.

"Why do you want to know about him, E?" Ace probed.

Eden gripped the blanket covering her body tightly. Her heart was beating fast. Should she tell Ace the truth? Was it Okay? Was Alex eavesdropping outside the door?

Eden was afraid that Alex would walk away from her when he found out the truth about what was happening in the past.

"Miguel Grey has gray hair like you, pointed nose, bright green eyes." Ace smiled. Eden was disappointed because the Miguel that Ace meant was her dad.

Ace saw the change in Eden's face and asked, "Do you know him? Did he give you this necklace?" Ace pointed to the bloodstone necklace.

Eden looked towards the entrance, afraid that Alex would hear from behind the door. Ace knew Eden's behavior. He cast a spell and turned the room into soundproof, so Alex would be deaf.

"Tell me, E. The crazy wolf won't be able to hear you," said Ace. 

Eden swallowed her saliva before dare to said.

"Do you know about my necklace? What is it, Ace?" Asked Eden.

Ace took out the same necklace from under his robe. Eden blinked in confusion. Ace's bloodstone necklace was much more radiant because its owner had great magical power. Meanwhile, Eden's bloodstone had dimmed because Edith had died.

"Eh?? You have one too?" Eden was shocked to see Ace's necklace, which was the same as hers.

"This necklace belongs to the wizards, E. All wizards have. This necklace holds name and also the memories of the owner of the necklace. The goal is to keep the magic spell eternal. And I happen to know who owns your necklace." Ace smiled.

"You know the owner? Who?"

"Right, her name is Edith. She has green and blue eyes like you. She has the same gray hair as you too. That's why we call her Edith Grey." Ace smiled. He took Eden's long hair and smelled it. Felt the same tenderness Edith had. The feeling of longing returned to Ace's heart.

"Edith Grey?" Eden covered her mouth in disbelief. Eden's eyes widen. Wasn't Edith Gray the first alpha of the Tourmaline pack? How come she also had a bloodstone? So she's a wizard too? Werewolf as well as wizard, how could?

Eden looked at the pendant of the necklace. The iron frame on the bloodstone had the initial name 'E'. Eden thought this was her initial, apparently not. That was the name of the previous owner of this necklace, Edith.

"My dad gave this necklace to me." Eden stroked the necklace's pendulum longingly.

"He stole it from the Tree of Life. It doesn't belong to him, E. It's also the reason I'm here." Ace stroked the pendant of the necklace. His heart ached when he saw the red gem had dimmed.

"My father stole it? But what for?" Eden asked Ace. Ops, Eden was getting more confused. She didn't get any answers about her life's truth, and her life just got more complicated. For sure, Eden didn't want to believe that her father was a murderer and thief because Miguel's figure that Eden remember was a very gentle and kind person.

"I'm curious too, E. And… I can only find out if you give me the necklace back." Ace opened his palm, asking for Eden's necklace.

"No! My dad told me not to take off my necklace." Eden refuses. The necklace was the only thing left by his dad. Even though Miguel got it by stealing, that didn't mean Ace could grab it.

"I'll just borrow it, E. I'll return it right away after I finish checking out Edith's memories." Ace convinced Eden that she could have the necklace after Ace finished checking Edith's memories. Ace wanted to unite his memory with the memory of his late lover.

Ace must immediately dismantle it before Fenrir raised to got his strength back.

Eden was still hesitant to give up the necklace because she remembered his father's words, so Eden would not let go of the necklace for a second. No and never!

"It won't take long. I'll return it once I'm done. Seriously Eden. All of this is for the sake of humankind." Ace grabbed Eden's hand.

"You promise?" asked Eden.

"Yes." Ace nodded.

Eden took off her bloodstone necklace and gave the necklace to Ace. After the necklace left her side, Eden felt her body become strange.

"Ugh!!" Eden covered her ears with palms. The voices around her became so loud. Even the sound of Alex's breathing outside could be heard.

"My head hurts!" Eden complained.

Ace was confused when he saw Eden was curled up in pain because her senses became very sensitive. Ace didn't want Alex to enter before he finished talking to Eden. So He locked the door.

"Calm down, E!! Calm down!!" Persuade Ace. But Eden was still struggling while covering her ears. Sharp black nails appeared-disappeared from Eden's fingers. Eden accidentally scratched herself and got hurt. Fresh blood dripped, but soon the wound healed again.

Ace's eyes widen in disbelief, Eden was a werewolf, and this necklace was a barrier to keep her strength from coming out so Eden could live as an ordinary human.

Ace stared at Edith's necklace. Could Edith put a lot of magic on the necklace? But how did Miguel Grey know that Edith's necklace had magical powers that could suppress Eden's energy? Edith and Miguel lived hundreds of years apart.

"It hurts!!!" Eden shouted. Ace snapped out of his thoughts. The man rushed to drape the bloodstone necklace around Eden's neck.

Eden calmed down and lowered her hand from her ears. Eden was so scared. Why did her body suddenly become weird?

"Are you all right, E?" Ace stroked Eden's beautiful face full of sweat, and then smoothed her hair. Eden just nodded, still in shock from what she had experienced.

"What happened?? What did I go through, Ace?? Why was there such a loud sound echoing in my ears? Then I could smell all sorts of strange smells." Eden continued to ask frantically.

Ace sighed. He couldn't remove the bloodstone necklace from Eden's neck because the girl wasn't used to the werewolf's instincts. Ace had to come up with a new plan.

Ace didn't want Alex to knew that Eden was a werewolf. It was the same as letting Alex claim Eden as his mate. Ace didn't want Alex to get Eden. He did not want to repeat the same mistake once more time, let another man snatch his lover. Moreover, Eden was very similar to the late Edith. Every time Ace saw Eden, the longing in his heart always rises. Every time Ace saw Eden, the guilt in his heart always became much lighter.

"Ace..."

"No, you must be shocked because you lost a lot of blood and became weak. You received so much of my energy, and maybe your body isn't strong enough to accept magic. You should get a lot of reat, E." Ace shook his head to calm Eden's heart. Ace, who saw the opportunity, tried to gamble with his love fate again. Who knew, he could have Eden and keep her away from Alex.

"You returned my necklace?" Eden looked down and looked back at her necklace.

"Maybe next time, E. Didn't your father tell you not to take it off?" Ace tapped Eden's shoulder. Eden frowned. Curious. First, Ace wanted to see it so badly. For a moment then, he returned it. But Eden also didn't care because she had much more serious problems about the truth about her dad's past and hers.

"Was it true that my father killed Alex's father and mother?" Eden asked Ace.

"That's what Alex said to me." Ace nodded.

Eden looked down while squeezing her fingers. She became afraid. Afraid that Alex would find out and hate her. Before Alex knew the truth, Eden would find out why his father killed Alex's parents. There must be a reason because Eden knew her father was not a murderer.

"Please keep this secret from Alex, please, Ace." Eden touched Ace's hand.

"Okay, I won't say." Ace smiled, calming Eden's heart. But wouldn't it be OK if Queen told Alex?

"Thanks, Ace. I owe you a lot." Eden hugged Ace. Ace stroked Eden back. A thin grin appeared on Ace's handsome face. Finally, Ace had a reason to snatch Eden from Alex. This time Ace would never let go of his love again. Eden must be his.

And… when Eden fell in his arms. Ace believed he could solve all the riddles that Edith left and uncovered the hints about how to destroy Fenrir.

Humanity would be saved, and Eden would be his.

[Right, never take that necklace off, E!] Ace thought.
