“Dad! Stop!” I cried as he continued blasting giant rays of energy at me. Causing me to dodge every single one of them the best I could.

See, the thing about my father is that he was a tough teacher. Since today was a sparring day. I couldn’t help but dread the possible tricks he would come up with in order to train me. It sucked more when I found out that I was playing hide and seek today.

“Fuck!” I cried out as I did the splits while in the middle of the air. Dodging a beam of fire that would have hit my nuts. Moving faster than the speed of sound, I would have imagined I could already dodged and parried my father’s attacks, but knowing he was an immortal.

Twisting my body around, I notched an arrow into the string of my bow and took aim. A few miles away, I could see him leisurely walking down a mountain, sipping on his gourd. Using one of the breathing techniques I learned. My qi formed around the front of the bow. A small ring appeared in front of the arrow. Letting the arrow go, it flew faster. Barely able to make out the arrow’s appearance. Silent and deadly, it reached him in the blink of the eye.

“Tsk.” I grumbled as I saw him move and take a small sneeze. Moving his head slightly so that the arrow could only graze his hair.

Immediately, I ran away into the forest surrounding the mountain. Concealing my presence and becoming one with nature. Stopping in front of a giant tiger. The reason for this is that below it was a small group of cubs playing around. I sighed in relief as I noticed I didn’t hit any of the adorable, cute chubby cubs. Jumping over them, I continued to run.

“Ow!” I cried in pain as my ass was smacked by a beam. Looking back at the mountain, my eyes trained at my father’s position. I could see him chuckling at my reaction.

“Damn it dad. Why did you have to hit my ass? That hurts, you know.” I muttered out loud.

Because it’s fun. Also, because you forgot to match your scent with the surrounding forest. Just because you can conceal your presence, qi, and everything doesn’t mean I can’t find you. I was easily able to find you because there wasn’t anything there. Although, you can easily use assassination breathing and movement techniques well enough. You forgot to take note of your surroundings. Either way, you’ve improved once again, son. Now hurry the fuck up and come back. Your mom is calling us.” Said my father. The connection that transmitted his voice to me was cut off.

I sighed, picking myself up and began to run back to him.

“Hey mom.” Was the first thing I said when I saw her.

“Xiaotong! Is it true that you’ve finally found a girl?” She said as she came running up to me.

“What? Is that true?” Said my father, who was behind me. Giving me a perplexed expression.

“I just heard rumors of you taking some girl on a date! Is that true?!” She asked.

“Seriously?! Honey, tell me who she is?!” He said with a shock.

“A girl called Gong Daiyu!”

“Is she pretty?!” He asked.

“Even better, she has the Death Wood Widow’s Physique!” She smiled.

“Really?! Holy shit son.” He said, in a bit of awe.

“Death Wood Widow’s Physique?” Confused on what that was since it was the first time I heard about it.

She turned to face me, “Oh yeah, I’m not surprised you don’t know about it son. It’s one of those rare things that lower realms barely know about. Much less here in our sect. Barely much information is known about it but what we do know is that it’s a perfect dual cultivation physique.”

My face began to flush at the knowledge of what my mother said. “Oh.”

Noticing my reactions, a wide grin began to appear on her lips.  “Oho! Is my Xiaotong shy?”

My father, realizing what was going on, too began to form a wide grin on his face as he turned to me. “Son, if you want. I can set up a reservation at one of the capital’s best restaurants for your date. Especially since the tournament is coming in a few months. I think it would be a perfect place for a romantic evening.”

“Er … Thanks?” I told the two.

After, we had a quick dinner, something my parents rarely do. I was back with my father on a balcony looking down from the mountain top. Staring at the sect still busy with activity as disciples and elders go around their lives and cultivating.

“Son, have you heard about the recent news?” He asked me.

“Yup, during my small date. I could hear some rogue cultivators talking about the rumor. Seems like an Immortal’s Heirency Realm.” I told my father.

“Good. That makes it easier. The sect is going to send a group of inner disciples to the dungeon realm to find treasure. One of the elder’s asked if you can go with the inner disciples during their trip. And I agree since they need someone to scout the realm.” He said.

“Are you sure?” I asked him.

“Definitely. You might not notice, but the giant tiger you stopped in front of is the Silver Eyed Great Tiger. They’re known for their senses and ability to detect anyone below the Dao Formation Realm. Somehow, you were able to hide yourself from their gaze long enough to move away.”

“... Wow. I didn’t notice.” Finally, realizing just how much I improved.

“So would that be a yes?”

“Sure,” Shrugging my shoulders. “Might as well see if I can get something for myself while I’m there.”

“Good, at least you’re getting your ass up and not staying home to continue reading your books my lazy son.” A small smile appeared on his face.

“Not that lazy.” I muttered.

He sighed before continuing on, “Well … true in a sense but you aren’t when it comes to your duties as my sun and as one of our sect’s finest disciples. But, that’s it. You don’t have any goals, desires, or even have the courage to risk things. That’s why you’re only considered number two while Qin Long is number one.”

“... Yeah. If I want to be honest, I like where I am. I’m happy-no, grateful for the luck I was given to be born from you, dad and mom. But for some reason, I like the pace I’m going for. Don’t worry dad, I still have the goal to become an immortal but unlike everyone. I desire to be careful.” I told him as I looked up to the moonlight shining down on the sect.

“At least you’re rational.” He chuckled, “But don’t worry. You’ll get there, son. I’ve seen the amount of training and work you’ve done to reach the final step before getting into the Dao Manifestation Realm. Just below the Formation Realm. I’m proud of what you’ve accomplished, son.” Looking back at him to see my father giving me a proud look.

I couldn’t help but smile back.

“Thanks dad. You’re the best.”

“The best? How come I’m not the greatest?” He questioned.

“Hey! I already said you’re awesome.” I grumbled.

“Hmm, how about I tell you some tricks and tips to change your mind.”

“Well, like what?”

“About getting you a harem, my boy!”

I paused for a moment before my face brightened in red. “Dad!”

“Ohoho! So you are interested in a harem then. It’s a great goal to have if you want a harem son. In fact, why don’t I tell you about my younger days when I was but a young cultivator. Way before I met your mother, in fact.” His grinning face now filled with a smug undertone.

“But I don’t want a harem!” I yelled at him.

“I know the types of books you’re reading, Xiaotong. Of course, you will be interested. All men are. And the fact that you’re already conquering your first girl already makes me filled with pride. Perhaps I should give you some lessons on how to manage a harem.” He chuckled.

But before I can answer, the two of us felt a great aura of malice and killing intent. Causing my heart to skip a beat momentarily.

“What was that dear husband of mine?” My mother’s voice said in a rather calm manner. Causing the two of us to look back and see my mother standing there with her arms crossed and monotone face.

“N-Nothing dear!”

“Y-Yeah. Nothing here mom.”

“... Good.”

As she left, the two of us let out a sigh of relief.

“I think you should hold those lessons when mom isn’t here.” I whispered.

“Agreed.” Returning a whisper.
