The four hunters around Owen slowly waited as the countdown on their magic scrolls ticked and teleported to the town. All of them had a strange smile probably from the pain of loosing their money. The town was only a short run away for Owen but for the weak NPC hunters who barely fought off some vicious beasts, it wasn't worth the gamble.

As Owen was about to go find the remaining hunters, his communication scroll lit up with the message from the town mayor.

[Monsters are invading. Please return.]

Owen ripped his scroll as well.

The mayor was being paranoid. Seeing the hunters return, he immediately decided to ask Owen to return. From the description of the attack by the beasts, it was certain that the town wasn't strong enough to hold off till the kingdom could sent help. If the other towns closer to the capital were also besieged, then the kingdom might even abandon the town. After all, Naglorent was a frontier town which to the kingdom was expendable.

Thankfully, the crops had grown so Owen was able to harvest before the siege started.

"lady Oa, thank you for saving us." One of the saved hunters approached Owen as they were moving towards the town wall.

"I did promise the mayor."

"The outsiders haven't returned yet, I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping to hire them as well." The mayor said.

"That need not be a bad thing." Owen said reminiscing the first monster raid on human settlement that he had joined in Second Life. The mayor looked at him inquisitivly but Owen refused to explain.

The beasts from the nether had one goal, destroy the settlements that were encroaching onto their territory. The kingdom's in cord of rebirth were going though the same pose as the initial game, and if that was the case, then the second part of the monster raid was an opportunity for the guilds to own a territory.

In Second Life, the players were still new to the game struggling to fight but five years of training in the previous game had given the players the experience they lacked. Considering how difficult the other raid opportunities were, guilds would not let an opportunity like this go. As for casual players, attacking the NPCs were equivalent to shooting their own feet. Without a guild's support, it was impossible to start off if the reputation with the NPCs were ruined.

"It's starting." The mayor walked to Owen's side and mumbled. Owen could already sense the numbers of the enemy marching towards them. A few players who were returning to the town had already started to engage the enemy.

Soon, the beasts were visible as the massive trees were shaken by them as they approached the town defense wall. From the momentum, there was more than 20 elite monsters. Apart from Owen, the only one capable of killing one of those monsters were the mayor and the auction house guardian both of whom were shaken seeing the disparity in numbers.

"We are doomed." One of the archers at the top wall whispered.

Although Owen had a huge attack damage, he still hasn't leveled up his magic paths and severely lacked  an area damage spell.

"Take care of the small ones. Leave the elites to me." Owen said and jumped down towards the waves of monsters. "Gale Step. Mana Shield." He ran towards the beasts leaving behind the stumbled town folks.

"Earth Spike." As soon as the elites were within range, Owen started casting earth spikes skewing the monsters left and right. The few attacks that he recieved were all absorbed by the Mana Shield. The battlefield was void of any threat within a few seconds.

Looking at the world threatening wave of monsters getting slaughtered as if a wolf in a rabbit pen, the town guards were sweating profusely. The chief was almost on his knees thinking about their altercation from before. The few players who had returned from the respawn point looked at the god cleaning up the battlefield in awe. The ones who mocked the gods were already preparing to leave for another town.

By the time the beast wave calmed down, Owen was already standing next to the mayor. "Well, that should do the trick. You can clean the remaining up."

"Thank you lady Oa, we'll take it from here." The mayor was estatic. He looked a few years younger. There was a radiant smile on all the guards as they slowly moved in to the forefront. Without having to worry about being trambled by the elite beasts, this had become more of a training exercise.

The few guild members that were scouting the place on the other hand had a deep frown. It looked like they ate an iron rod.

The place slowly calmed down as the guards took over. There was a few victory bells and drum beats and the crowd cheered. A few had already started crying and hugging thanking the gods.

.:
"Lady Oa, thank you for saving our town. Without your help we wouldn't have survived this." Mayor walked upfront and bowed. The town folks became quiet. There were even a few players waiting around watching the show.

"I was just doing my part." Owen said. "Besides, how can I ignore all those monsters? Life is precious, is it not?"

"As a thank you gift, please take this token with you. It should help you if you chose to head to the capital. It is a token of valor given to the best."

A token of valor. One of the requirements to recieve the adventures sub class and one of the key to upgrading the main class had it been a combat class.

Owen was about to leave the town and return to his farm when a new message popped up.
