"You're finally back OA. How was uni life. Tell me about it. I want to hear all about your friends." Owen's mom dragged him to the living room as soon as she opened the front door.
"It was fine mom. There weren't many friends. Most of the people I used to interact with are from the game."
"I spent so much money and sent you to that uni so that you could make some real friends, not so that you could coup up in your room and play video games all day. What's wrong with you." Owen's dad walked in on the two. From the way he was dressed, it looked as if he was planning to go out.
"Don't be so harsh on him. He just got back home. Let him rest for a while. I'm pretty sure he has figured out what he wants to do next." She looked at Owen in the eye and said sternly. "No games for you. I want you to go out and make some friends. Talk to real people. Maybe take over one of our businesses."
"I'm not into that mom. Why not let sister deal with those stuff. I'm not good at them." Owen never cared for the family business.
"Your sister got admission to the university and will be busy for the next few months at least." Dad just walked out of the hall as he spoke. "If you have nothing better to do, then go to the company storage lot. I need someone to help manage the place. Just make sure not to snoop on people. What they do is their own business. The less we know the better."
"It can wait till tomorrow. Today, you are staying with me and helping me around the house. It's been four months since I last met you."
Owen's mom was busy in the kitchen preparing a feast for his son, as he went to his room, which was well kept through his time in uni, to take a quick shower and change into more casual cloths.
Once he was done, he went downstairs to smell the mouthwatering aroma of his mom's cooking. She was busy laying out his favorite dishes on the table and smiled as soon as she saw him on the stairs. She dragged him to the table and force fed him some of the best food he had ever tasted. After a bit of a loving talk, his mom settled down on the chair next to him still playing with his overgrown hair.
"You should get a hair cut before you leave for the storage units."
"I'm not going to the storage unit."
"No, your dad asked you to go. You are going to obey him. I'm pretty sure you won't have to deal with anything there. People rarely visits those places. You could just stay in the office and play some games if you get too bored."
"Don't he gave managers to do those stuff? Why bother me? It's not like I need a job right now."
"OA, just go with it for now, unless you have something planned ahead. It could be a good thing for you. Might even get some ideas on what to do next."

"But I have an idea on what I want to do, mom. I was planning to open a new guild for the new game."
"A gaming guild? Don't be stupid, son. They aren't all that glory and fun. Most gameing guilds are running at a heavy loss. The only reason they don't go under is cause the government supports them."
"I don't plan to make it into something big. I was hoping to make a small one, just me and a few friends that I know might be intrested. All we would need is a small house and a few gaming pods. Besides I had already done the down payment on the house."
"Your dad's going to be furious. Why didn't you ask him first. Well, i suggest you go to the storage unit and spent some time there before you break this news to him. It should earn you some browne points."
"Fine, I'll go. It's not like I have anything else to do at the moment. I need to read up a little on this new game. This whole release feels a bit rushed. The announcement was also too rash."
"I'll pack some snacks for you. Like dad said, make sure you don't walk around the building. Just keep an eye on the cameras in case someone comes in to check their stuff."
"I've worked in there before. Besides there are staffs there, aren't there?"
Owen left house soon after. Although he didn't want to admit it, he had nothing planned for the day and some lone time at the storage units would help his research about the new release a little. So for the only thing available to public was the name "Cord of Rebirth". Everything else was shrouded in mystery.
The place was empty as it always was. The only reason for someone to stay back and monitor the was because the law demanded it. There were two employees at the place when Owen arrived at the place. There were some upgrades going on so they two were busy.
Owen quickly settled into the office and booted up a pc. The forums had a few threads as a few employees from the company was hyping up the release before the launch of the official website which was about to happen. The frustrated geeks were busy refreshing the website trying to get on first.
The countdown hit zero and the world finally got to explore the lores behind Cord of Rebirth. The website launch was a success with over 30 million viewers at launch. Soon the possibile classes and races were revealed. Owen went through the list and soon like the few who genuinely lived their loves in second life, was enraged. Many of the advanced classes that were available in their favourite game were now locked away behind a gacha system. This included the lunar ranger, his own class with a very low 0.001% chance of appearing.
As he browsed, he soon found a pattern forming. All the famous classes that the eSports legends played were locked behind gacha rolls and some of the normal classes that were behind premium rolls had enhanced attributes. Beyond those, only a five classes were available for free and upgrading them was possible. Considering how important the early days were, the ones choosing the ordinary classes were bound to always be one step behind.
