It's been 2 days since meeting the orphans of Yu Dao, the town we are in. My only method of communication is either nodding yes or shaking no, which shakes the chain around my neck, trying to communicate to a bunch of children.

'The orphans are speaking really slowly to me, I wish I could communicate to them, That I understand them just fine, Why couldn't I be reincarnated into a noble family of some kind.'

One of the Kids is name Biyu, with short brown hair and a ponytail has nicknamed me "Mute".

'which I don't know if I should consider an insult or an accurate assessment for my situation.'

Miffens is here, he found me collapse in an alleyway and brought me to this abandoned building, which I learn is home to a bunch of street orphans.

'Does Miffens shed fur or scales? He's gotten really big since I last saw him, it doesn't matter, at least he came back for me, although when I did meet up with Miffens again I really thought he was going to eat me, I should give him an apology spider rat, a really big one.'

A shiver went through me just thinking about it.

'I feel like I've overstayed my welcome with these street orphans, I would like to repay them, but what would street orphans like? '

'A home, maybe?'

A 10-year-old girl enter the room I was in with an upbeat personality and bun hairstyle, wearing a worn-out green kimono.

"Hey, breakfast is ready." She said, dragging me away from a comfortable straw-made bed.

The girl's name is Jojo, who was taking care of me during my fever break.

'I really pushed myself, with the blood bending, or it could have been food poisoning, I don't know.'

Jojo led me into an open area with the other orphans, sitting me at one end of the shabby wooden table, before joining the rest of the older kids, who were already eating. In front of me is a meager bowl of mush, of an unknown substance. I sniffed the meal in front of me, it was edible.

'my instincts are telling me not to eat this, and I've eaten raw food before.'

"What is Jojo's cooking too good for you, Mute," Biyu said, grinding his teeth and trying to eat the mush.

'how is mush that hard?'

"Biyu, stop it," The oldest-looking girl with length waist brown hair said.

That's Zirin, from what I've seen from their dynamic, she is the Alpha of the group all the other orphans look up to and follow, Biyu and Jojo are co-leaders to her.

'I guess I would be considered a stray then.'

"We don't have time to look after another stray, we have a job to case a mansion in the northern district and if we don't you know what will happen," Biyu said directing his frustration toward me and Jojo equally.

"but look at him, I couldn't just leave him like that, and really look at him, he has a collar around his neck," Jojo said whispering to Biyu.

"Yes, I am looking at him, he's nearly naked, covered in scars, bone mask, he's clearly some noble's sex slave that escaped," Biyu said emphatically.

"Guys," Zirin said while being ignored by Biyu and Jojo.

"Gasp! Don't use the s word in front of the children." Jojo said, while covering the ears of one of the nearby orphans.

"SEX SLAVE! He probably belongs to some sick and twisted noble who tortures him all day, and gets off from it!" Biyu said starting to shout at Jojo.

"Guys," Zirin said still being ignored.

"GASP!" Jojo stomps the ground as a fist-size rock made of dirt floats in front of her and threw it at Biyu, hitting him directly in the face.

Biyu responded by grabbing a bowl of mush and throwing it at Jojo, the mush hitting her and sliding down her face.

A childish food and dirt fight quickly escalated between Biyu and Jojo.

"GUYS! HE'S ALREADY LEFT!" Zirin said shouting.

Biyu and Jojo stop for only a moment to let Zirin's words register in their ears, before continuing their childish fight.

I'm walking away from the abandoned orphanage to find another place to crash in peace, Miffens is hung over me like a long fur scarf over my neck, going with me to look for food.

'Sigh, I can't deal with children right now, Suki and the others are one thing, me staying with them will be nothing but trouble.'

"Well, well, well, look do we have here, look like we got ourselves a stray, boys,"

I was unaware, when I walked into three adults wearing similar thug-looking attires, made of furs and leathers, they had coin pouches hanging from their belts.

"It must be spirit day, because look at the kid, he's all dressed up as one," A man with crooked teeth said circling around me, eyeing the things on me.

They had matching tattoos of a green dragon, one of them had it tattooed on his face.

"That's a nice scarf, you must be new around town, we are the emerald dragons and you have to pay for protection here," The biggest one said with the face tattoo

One of the thugs was reaching for miffens.

"KRUCHK!" the sound of a grown man's hand bones being broken could be heard.

'I'm tired, hungry, and my patient is running dry.'

"Let go, PLEASE! let go kid, I was kidding about protection," The biggest one fell to his knees, begging me to release his crushed hand.

"Let him go, Kid, Were the emerald dragons!" the youngest one said with false confidence.

The youngest-looking thug was pointing a finger at me.

"Crrack," the sounds of a finger bone breaking, as another thug fell down on their knees gripping my hand trying to release his finger being crushed by me.

"OK, OK, we don't want no trouble, just let us go, and you'll never see us ever again," The crooked teeth thug said holding his hands up in protest and backing away from the situation.

My head looked at the pouches on their belts then back to the 3 thugs.

A few minutes later.

Three thugs can be seen running out of the slum district nearly naked and crying with red faces. A child about 9 years old wearing leathers, furs, and belt straps, that were one size too big for him, with long white unkempt hair walked out of the slum district, the fresh smells of cook deliciously guiding him into the food district of Yu Dao.

'I wonder if money is still the universal language.'

The child can be seen with several pouches filled with coins of silvers, bronzes, and a few gold coins
