Chapter 83: CHAPTER 83: PROPOSAL TURN TO TRAGEDY

"Mm… Hm?" Aries awoke from her sleep and blink her eyes open.

 

Then, she realised someone was sleeping beside her with head placed on her pillow too.

 

"Kairi?!" She was startled by him.

 

His sleeping face was so close to her. She slowly sat up and stared at him.

 

"Why is he sleeping here? Could he be lonely without me?" She chuckled at her funny thoughts and gently stroked his hair.

 

Then, she felt his awakening. A second later, Kairi slowly opened his eyes before looking at her.

 

"Aries, good morning…" He yawns before he slowly sits up and stretches his arms.

 

He had his shirt open in front and Aries blushes after seeing his strong eight pack abdomens. She couldn't get used to seeing him half-naked. And Kairi would sleep in his room either with no shirt or a half-open shirt. 

 

He said it would be hot if he didn't open them and also told her that it was normal for most men to sleep like that. She could only nod after listening to it.

 

"Do you want anything for breakfast?" 

 

Kairi startled her with his sudden question. He also slowly stood up and turned his body to look at her gently.

 

"Hm?" Aries was confused. 

 

Isn't breakfast prepared by the maids?

 

Kairi could hear her silent question and chuckle. So, he told her. 

 

"I'm going to make our breakfast." 

 

His sentences shock her. "You can cook?!"

 

"What…? Aries, have you forgotten that I worked in a tavern before with Rafiz? Our dad is even a culinarian. Of course, I can cook too, you know." Kairi felt funny that she would ask that.

 

"Alright, my lady. Please stay here until I finish preparing our breakfast." He told her next before he left her in her room.

 

Her room was located in the south palace area. And the kitchen he went to was nearby where a few chefs were preparing food for people in the area. It doesn't matter who but this was their job after all. The chefs were shocked to see him and kneel to him instantly.

 

"Your Majesty, what is your order?" One chef with a big moustache asked.

 

"I want to make my own breakfast. Can you give me the kitchen for a moment?"

 

Everyone snapped their heads at him with astonishment.

 

"But Your Majesty! We can do it for you! So, there's no need for Your Majesty to dirty your hands with this lower-class work!"

 

"Lower class work…?" Kairi thought silently before he smiled.

 

"I think it doesn't matter whether cooking is lower class or not. I used to cook for myself, do chores like other people and do other things that everyone sees as lower standards. Still… I am happy to do it and I don't care about other people seeing it."

 

The chefs were stunned to hear it. Their eyes glistened in amazement. Who could have thought that their king would not follow any etiquette for the high class? This was something they had never heard or seen before.

 

"Alright, Your Majesty. But, can we watch it? Because we are still worried if something happens to you."

 

Everyone finally agreed to let Kairi use the kitchen but with a condition. Kairi nodded in understanding and then he went to the cooling room. He knew there was raw meat there he could use. After half an hour, a few dishes were made and let out a delicious fragrance. Even the chefs there salivate after it.

 

"Thank you for letting me use the kitchen." Kairi thanked them before he lifted the trays of food and walked out.

 

He didn't notice the chefs' eyes were shining and they hurriedly wrote a note about something at a quick pace. It was probably the food recipes which they have never seen or tasted before. After all, Kairi made breakfast from his hometown recipes.

 

"Huh? Isn't that Kairi? What is he doing carrying a food tray?" Agi was confused.

 

"He is going toward Aries' room. Heh! This seems like he is declaring his relationship with her." Pegasus smirks.

 

Pegasus has returned after Rafiz and his groups appeared to take them back to Antonia. They didn't go to Econia since the meeting would be held in Antonia. The meeting was on hold after they knew Revioryx were attacking Eridan Kingdom and destroying the resident area one by one. 

 

It seems to them that he was taking out his anger because Dark Kage and Kairi's group escaped his attacks. The Bright Star users once again rush to Eridan Kingdom to help and transport the living survivors to Axis City. 

 

Kairi was glad he decided to ask Dark Kage to move Axis City to Antonia. With this, they still have some places for Eridan's residents to stay for a while. However, the residents were angry at the people from Syarantonia for letting their home be destroyed in Revioryx hands. Even Dark Kage was scorned by them.

 

Leo and Auriga had to help Kairi to comfort them and promise to remake their home after everything ends. For now, they would satisfy their needs to live comfortably in Axis City or they can stay in Econia if they like.

 

The next thing that happened was Kairi was forced to stay in Syarantonia and he wasn't allowed to move out of it. His presence and his life were very important to them in this urgent situation.

So, Kairi, who had nothing to do, did what he liked and one of them was staying by Aries' side. After all, he knew he didn't have much time to live anyway. He figured he could do things he wanted before regretting not doing them.

 

"Oh my gosh! Kairi, this is so delicious!" Aries' eyes widened in delight after tasting the breakfast he had made.

 

Kairi, who was sitting opposite her at the dining table, smiled at her. 

 

"I'm glad that you think it's delicious because I still felt the food was not tasty enough like dad made them."

 

"Kairi, you will reach Mr Rafael's level of cooking someday. But for now, I think the Chicken Lasagna you made was truly something I love and like." She told him.

 

He laughs at her words. "Thank you, Aries. I love you."

 

Aries was stunned. Her face slowly blushed to her ears. She still couldn't get used to Kairi's declaration of love for her that was said frequently by him now. Still, she was so happy inside.

 

"I love you too, Kairi."

 

Kairi nodded and reached for her right hand. He brought it to his lips and kissed it.

 

"Aries, will you marry me?"

 

CLANK! TANG!

 

Aries, who was holding the spoon and knife, accidentally let go of them and they fell to the floor. She froze in her seat while looking at Kairi with shock. 

 

Kairi looked at her and he slowly brought out something he hid under the table. It was a gift box and he put it on the table before pushing it toward Aries. He also walked to her right side while still holding her right hand. Then, he kneels to one knee in front of her.

 

"I am sorry, Aries. I could not propose to you so grandly like other people. I just don't know if you would like it, especially during this dangerous time… I can only propose to you like this because I love you so much to be apart from you. Even just for a second, I would always think of you. My time is short and I don't know when I'm going to leave. But at least I want to feel what it's like to be your partner and husband."

 

His sweet words reach deep into her core. She slowly shed tears because she felt so surprised and overwhelmed by his sudden proposal and words.

 

"Will you be willing to stay with me until the end?" He asked her.

 

She was silent for a long time before she slowly nodded. "I am… willing…" She answered before she hugged him.

 

Kairi stood up with her in his arms. He also kissed her deeply. He felt glad that she would still want him. Then, he remembered the gift he prepared to propose to her.

 

"Aries, please open the gift box. This is something… I truly want for you to have." He swallowed nervously.

 

He doesn't know if Aries would like his gift. Aries let him go and turned her head to the gift box. She wondered what was in it and took it. Then, she opened it. She was surprised when a brilliant bracelet with an aquamarine stone decorated around it appeared in her eyes.

 

"Kairi, this is…?!"

 

"My proposal gift to you." Kairi smiled awkwardly.

 

He took the bracelet in the box and his hands suddenly trembled to clasp it around Aries' right hand. Aries thought Kairi was nervous and let him take his time to do it. Instead, she was shocked when his eyes changed to bright green with vertical eyes.

 

"Get out of me!" 

 

He suddenly shouts and a glowing light instantly comes out of his body. Aries stumbles away while she realises something was wrong with him.

 

"Kairi!"

 

"Aries… Run…" His eyes slowly turn red.

 

They had the same colour as the sea dragon eyes. These changes also told her that he was controlled by someone she hates so much. If it wasn't for him, Kairi wouldn't be in a weakened state. Aries' eyes turn to anger.

 

"Revioryx!"

 

Kairi in front of her slowly smirks at her.

 

"Kairi!" 

 

Ziphoteninx, Kironinx, Rafiz and Draco appear in the room after they notice the disturbance in Aries' room. They knew Kairi was with Aries but the dark aura that came out into the surrounding, even changing the bright sky to a gloomy state, made them instantly realise it was coming from him. They were shocked to see his glowing red eyes.

 

"Revioryx is controlling him!" Aries told them.

 

"Damn it! The curse isn't just a curse after all!" Rafiz grit his teeth in anger.

 

"We must help Kairi to control his mind again!" Draco told them.

 

They all nodded and instantly moved to surround Kairi from each side. They can't let Kairi escape from the room. If he did, who knew where he would go and what he would do.
