Merrick was sitting at his desk working by a small desk lamp sketching in the darkness of the room when the door opened to Tremain hobbling over and lurching in movement.
"What have you got there, Merrick?" Tremain asked.
On his desk, several sketches lay by a fresh notebook. He didn't even get up or look back at Tremain. He kept penciling his ideas.
"Tremain, I know we might not make it through this next fight…" Merrick smiled.
"Yet you do not frown." Tremain cackled.
The squeaked on its hinges to find Soliel peeking back at him from the crack in the door. She ran up to him excitedly hopping into his lap and looking down at the drawings laid out before her.
She already knew about the impending fight ahead of them yet Merrick was up taking notes. Tremain looked down in intent at the invention on the paper.
"I am working on something, Soliel." Merrick snickered.
He got up to stretch as she clung to his leg crying out in laughter. Reaching down he picked her up to swing her up in the air to sit her on his chair.
"What is this?" She questioned.
"Think of it as a power buff, oh Soliel we have a chance to become more!" Merrick explained.
"A power buff?" Tremain inquired.
He swiped the first blueprints from the table. Examining them he became enamored by the item that would help them succeed.
"Didn't you make this way too late?" Soliel pondered.
"You are right I did, but I have written a letter to Madam Spider," Merrick stated.
"You are one brave man for contacting her," Tremain replied.
"She will arrive in a few days," Merrick said happily.
"How dare you not tell us sooner!" Soliel scolded.
"I am so sorry my dear Soliel." Merrick apologized.
"Madam Spider isn't a cheap lady," Tremain said.
"What matter is I can pay her and she can give me what I want!"
Merrick watched everyone in excitement over their small victory in the form of nothing more than an outline on school notebook paper.
"We were so worried you would never come out of the room!" Tremain laughed.
"Has Hazel come back from her flight yet?" Merrick inquired.
"Not yet!" Soliel pouted.
"I know she is a type to take a long flight, but this is ridiculous even for her…" Merrick muttered.
He took his brown leather bomber jacket and quickly pushed it on. Tremain and Soliel remain silent as he left after their friend.
"Lian…Lian…" A soft voice said.
He sat up taking someone's hand half asleep. He leaned forward as his fingers feel around his chest to find he had been bundled in bandages.
Opening slightly to see Ares from before smiling at him with Gemma to the side only observing him silently.
"Where am I?" Lian asked.
"You are home…Merrick's old hovel." Gemma explained.
"Dad's…home…"
"That's right, Lian…Merrick's home…" Gemma whispered.

She placed her arms around Lian. her hand runs down the spinal piece attached to his back. He doesn't even let out a yelp this time.
"Are you feeling okay?" Ares questioned.
"I am fine. I am just tired." Lian yawned.
"It's okay to rest for now." Ares acknowledged.
"Do you do more blankets? Pillows?" Gemma questioned.
Gemma and Ares despite being older women dressed in tightly bodycons of crimson red and vibrant gold nearly displaying their breasts to Lian.
He could feel his face redden the more he came into consciousness trying to look away but realizing Ares's beautiful smile didn't match how underdressed she was at that very moment looking down and moving his eyes to the sides grabbing the pillow.
Gemma pushed the hair behind her ears bowing down with an innocent look on her face. He noticed she had colored her lips a light pink. He backed up unable to think of how to react as the two gorgeous women started to close in on him.
"Wait!" Lian shouted.
"What's wrong?" Ares snickered.
They moved away staring at each other. Lian held tight to the pillow unsure of how to respond to the two.
"You harmed Lily…how am I taking this?!" Lian shouted.
He became angry and ready to get up when Area shoved him back down on the bed. The both of them started to whisper in front of him.
"You recall I see." Gemma noted.
"Why the hell would I not remember?" Lian argued.
"Good point." Ares frowned.
Gemma tipped over unembarrassed by how she dressed letting her bust droop within Lian's seeing eyes.
"Look…T-man suggested this, but I forgot you remembered." Gemma justified.
"T-man?" Lian replied.
"Our boss or whatever you wanna call em." Ares sighed.
"You are fully implemented with a device your father made." Gemma pointed out.
It slipped from his memory. He could feel the instrument stinging, but less than it did before. He was horrified nonetheless of the gadget now bound to his spine.
"You will be taught to use it properly!" Gemma contended.
She tossed on his lap a dingy notebook. He paged through knowing he never knew his Dad in his lifetime and holding nothing more than a remnant of who he was through his writing.
"Memorize this before you fully heal, Lian." Ares scolded.
"I have been taken against my will and you really think I would help you!" Lian disputed.
"You really have no choice…" Ares declared.
Gazing around his new room he noticed how aged it was. Black bars on the barren windows stood before him. He was trapped in a familiar place only to the lingering ghost of his father who must have dearly loved this place.
"How am I supposed to do this without my weapon?" Lian quibbled.
"We are taking care of it as we speak Master Lian." Gemma chortled.
"Reaper…"
Ares and Gemma began shrieking in laughter intimidating Lian. He truly felt he was in hell and no one is going to rescue him. The air felt heavy as he realized his fate as a prisoner in a home that was never his.
