Chapter 7: Chapter 6: [1:8] Espiègle Demoiselle – Howler Wolves

I ran in the darkness of the forest with only the moonlight as my guide, I keep hearing howls of wolves everywhere as I ran. There's in my right and in my left and even in front of me, I keeping my distance from the source but I feel like that they are leading me somewhere.

My mother taught me about wild animals and I remembered in one of her lessons that there was a rare kind of wolves that leads their prey to a trap by howling to know their location or to show up and chase them to where they laid their trap to capture their preys but they prefer the former so they were called the Howler Wolves.

And right now I'm being lead to a trap so I stop and put one of my knees on the ground and steady my breath then closed my eyes and listened carefully in my surroundings. One of the things I got after I got reincarnated in this world is that my hearing is very sharp and also a flexible and a strong body that I must have also gotten from my adventurer mother and my knight father.

The howls keeps me from hearing anything else but as I listened further, I can hear the stream of a river. I opened my eyes and look in the direction where I heard the stream and run in that direction and try my luck there.

I keep running in the place where I heard a stream of a river and notice that the howling of wolves suddenly went quite when I change direction. I keep running when I heard the rustle of leaves in my left and look there and saw a wolf jump at me. I quickly evaded it and hit the wolf in it's neck with a dagger while it's still in midair and quickly pulled it out and continued running. 

"Killing that schwartch really gave me tolerance in killing"

I keep on running and straight but an another wolf jump at me from the side again and I quickly dodge and hit in it's neck just like I did with the other wolf and continued running but it was only the beginning and now wolves came out from the side and jump at me.

I took the knife the brother's gave me and held the two blades and run my knife's to every passing wolf in chance while avoiding them to slow them down. I keep doing stunt's I thought I could never do in my previous life thanks to mother to escape the Howler Wolves that has now turned into Raining Wolves.

"Why is there a lot of them!? I heard that there are 10-15 howler wolves in each group that is more than your ordinary pack of wolves but there sure are a lot of them!"

As I escaped where the now newly named Raining Wolves stop to rest or to look at their injuries that I made, a group of 5 wolves showed up in front of me and in the middle of the group, you can see a slightly bigger wolf with a gem glowing blue in it's forehead.

"Looks like the alpha showed up"

The 4 wolves that can be considered the Four Heavenly Kings of the alpha run straight at me with fangs and claws ready to ripped me appart. Even if I changed direction it will only be a matter of time before they catch me so I didn't stop and continued running straight to where the river is. 

The wolves formed in N-formation to close any gaps for me to slip through but except of running straight at them while avoiding them, I took a sack full of sand that I prepared before running off. 

(Note: Since she only has a sack full of food to last a few days and some water and a dagger and a knife, she only has to put the food she is eating in her mouth and close the sack and run away so she does not need any preparing)

My mother taught me that after setting up a campfire, I should collect the ashes or some sand and put it in a sack to use as a smokescreen but she recommended using ashes cause it will also help blind their sense of smell if you use it on animals. Since I haven't put out the fire so it's ashes is still hot so I make do for sand for now. 

I rip a part of my clothes and use it to put the sand and I made two of it and I took one and spread the sand in front of me in the four wolves to blind their eyes. The wolves cry as the sand got into their eyes and I didn't miss the chance and ran my two dagger's in their necks as I pass by them. 

I was about to continue running when I noticed that the alpha was now gone and I stop and cautiously look around and held my dagger's. I looked at my back where the wolves that have given up after I killed those four wolves and now tending their injuries. I can hear the stream of the river even better now because of the sudden silence and cautiously walked in the direction of the stream of the river. 

"Mother and Father's training is now showing it's results and the wolves really has high intelligence, they just gave up after I killed those four"

I mutter those words as I continued walking and slowly move my pace even faster and faster that I'm now running again. After running for a while, I now reach the river and is now looking at it atop a big rock near the riverbank.

"I now reach the river but how to I cross it?"

"If you want to cross the river then let me help you"

As I thought of a way to cross the river when a voice suddenly spoke in my mind that surprised me and let my guard down that the beast that is hiding in the darkness didn't miss and jumped at me with It's claws. I tried to dodge it but was too late and the claws hit my right shoulder and I fell in the river.

The water swallowed me and I tried to go up where I can breathe and as my head reach, I saw the alpha looking at me as the stream take me.

"For you to manage to be this strong when your still a child and a human surprised me, but you are still inexperienced and is still growing. Come back when your bigger and stronger"

The voice spoke in my mind but I know that it's the alpha that is looking at me. As the stream took me, the alpha turned back and never look back again. I tried covering the wound in my right shoulder but the blood keep coming out and I can feel my consciousness fading. 

The stream pace keep getting faster and faster that now stream became wild and I head keep getting submerged in the water and coming out. I feel the cold and the blood that is coming out makes it hard to stay my consciousness but I suddenly hit a rock and now loss my consciousness.

My body keep coming in and out in the river but now the stream calmed down and is now slowly moving my body that is only floating in the river. My body keep drifting on the river and is now taking it somewhere far away.
