Chapter Nine- Outside The City Walls.

Elsie was thrilled, she had never had as much fun as she did in the past two days, in her entire life. Just what was she doing? She was defying her father! And one of the most powerful existences in the known worlds!

She had tagged along with Jack to experience just what the outside was like, and she was not disappointed, everything lived up to her imagination, and with the imagination of such a girl, the standards were extremely high, yet she was satisfied.

What was next on this roller coaster of a ride? Escaping the capital of the underworld. Just how were she and jack going to do it?

Just as she was thinking, she thought of something and asked Jack who was walking back and forth trying to figure out a plan.

“Hey, Jack.” Elsie walked over, her voice made Jack snap out of his thoughts, somewhat angry. “What is it?” he retorted. “How did you come to the city?” she asked. Just what kind of question was that? A very simple one.

“I came through a hole- ah!” Jack’s gloomy expression suddenly brightened. But, Elsie’s became that of bewilderment. Had he not thought about this before? She pitied his stupidity, however, now they knew their next move.

“Well.” Elsie stretched. “Where did you come in from, hurry let’s leave this place.” Elsie was unsurprisingly in a rush, just how much had she to explore? She couldn’t waste a single second standing in this back ally of the city, she wanted to see the so-called “Countryside” that surrounded countless millions of miles of territory.

“Well…” However, Jack was acting hesitant. “Well, what?” Elsie asked. Jack took in a big breathe before continuing. “Well, it’s near the north gate, the guards don’t know about it, nonetheless, the area’s dangerous, many people use it as an illegal way of passage, meaning we would have to pay a fine, however, I don’t have enough money for the both of us. Jack lowered his head in disappointment.

“Oh is that it? I thought you were about to say something serious.” Surprisingly Elsie had brushed off Jack’s worries instantly. Did she have money? However remembering how rushed Elsie was, Jack, came to the conclusion that she had left with a minimum in her pockets, she was probably more broke than him.

However, what Elsie did next, stunned Jack to his core.

Elsie tapped one of the diamond crescent rings she was wearing, and a leather pouch spawned out of thin air. Just what was this? Magic? Jack had never seen anything the like, however, he could already guess what was inside the small pouch.

Ching Ching

Elsie heaved the pouch up and down, and the cackling of money could be heard from inside. She smiled with a triumphant look on her face. “Problem sorted, now let’s hurry and go.” Elsie then grabbed the still-stunned Jack and dragged him towards the north of the city.

The city was huge, and it took a few hours to traverse from the far south to the tip of the north of the city. Elsie and Jack had wasted no time in getting here, however, they had sneakily bought some food before arriving.

Munching on a sandwich Elsie tugged at Jack’s shoulder. “Where do we go now.” She asked.

Jack who had just finished the last of his sandwich came closer to Elsie and whispered, from now on, don’t talk so loud, first, we have to get some cloaks to cover our identity, it’s a miracle we haven’t been caught yet. Furthermore, we don’t want another instance like yesterday happening again.

Elsie thought back to that pig-headed fatty she had slapped, her spine shivered. She nodded at jack who then continued to warn her of many things before going into one of the back ally shops and buying two black cloaks for the pair to wear.

“All right, I’ll lead the way, you just follow behind.” Jack then continued to walk before stopping and turning around once again. “Give me the pouch of money, ill buy our way in.” After hesitating for a little Elsie gave in and gave jack her pouch of money, she had plenty of it still in her space ring anyways, just what was a few coins to the princess? She could practically buy an entire five-star hotel with the amount of money she had on her.

Yet losing your hard-earned money was still painful, even if this “Hard earned money.” Was for acting like a proper princess instead of a hooligan…

Elsie quietly walked behind Jack, she was excited yet slightly nervous, this was it, her only chance to escape and see the outside world. She couldn’t stop thinking about what would happen if she got caught. Her father may lock her in her room for the rest of her life! She lamented at the thought, her father always snorted at the idea of letting her leave the palace, he said. “Mixing with those peasants will do you no good, just greet the guests that come into the palace and stay out of trouble.”

Thinking about it got Elsie angry, but she calmed herself down, she couldn’t act out of place while Jack was paying the man in charge of the illegal exit passage out of the city.

Surprisingly, everything went smoothly, Jack handed the money to the man, and he allowed them to pass. Eventually, they made it to the other side of the City walls.

“Well, that was easy.” Elsie laughed, she had finally done it, she had finally beat her father! She snickered just remembering his words. “You will never leave this city, this is your home.” However, at the moment she was spitting at his words.

“Shhhhh!” Jack covered her mouth, surprising her and causing her cold side to show, a cold stare was aimed at jack. Just who was so bold to physically touch her? If she had not been stopped for a good reason, she would have already bit Jack’s hand.

“Be quiet, we are still just a few hundred meters from the main gates, wait until we get further away, then you can talk.

After calming down, Elsie nodded, she had been too impulsive, she thanked Jack before continuing to follow him.

After a couple more hours of slowly diving through bushes to avoid detection, the pair had finally escaped the clutches of the guards and were safely far enough away. A sight of relief appeared in Jack’s mind, he sat down and closed his eyes. At this moment, the only thing he could think of was the silence-

“Jack look around us!” we are finally in the countryside!” (Sigh) Jack briefly forgot the oddity that was tagging around with him. “Where do we go next? There’s so much to explore!” Elsie continued, she looked like a dog in heat, nevertheless, those words would be too roughish to describe such a refined princess, one could say she was stuck at the moment, unable to control herself.

“Well, first of all, there is a small village close to here, how about we go find a place to sleep, I’m exhausted and I’m still not fully healed,” Jack said it was true, he still wasn’t fully recovered, and today had been extremely taxing on him.

After hearing his words, although slightly disappointed, Elsie agreed, now she had all the time in the world.
