Chapter 10: Alpha Dire Wolf

During his first experience in the survival game, only a few players were able to unlock both of his newly acquired abilities at this stage of the game. It took hundreds of players a few more months to know about these abilities.

Although, unlike the Perception skill which aids players to utilize all their senses at the same time, players in the early period of Ace's first stint in the game were only able to unlock one specific skill at a time.

Skills like [Vision], [Hearing], and the likes were the norms at the time which would eventually grant players supernatural comprehension of the skill once their proficiency level increased beyond comparison.

But the only downside to this skill was that only one could be used at a time, [Vision] couldn't be used to its full potential simultaneously while [Hearing] was still being currently used.

This would be the downside for many players but not Ace. The (Perception) skill grants players the ability to activate all senses to their frightening full potential once the perception skill level reaches a maximum and only then will the skill be truly feared.

But the truth is, Ace had never really witnessed the true extent of this skill. The players he had witnessed making use of this skill had their proficiency level at fifty which meant their mastery of the skill had reached the Advanced stage and this was enough to shame all players facing them.

The same could be said about their hand-to-hand combat skill which was also already acquired by him. In a nutshell, Ace currently possesses two of the most fearsome skills this survival game has to offer and the most frightening truth of all is that he had yet to reach ten percent of the skills he aimed to unlock.

Right now, Ace was a few meters away from the wolf's den. To avoid a situation where the alpha wolf would howl for aid, Ace sought to take care of the wolves scattered across the forest before aiming for the boss directly.

The boss coupled with the remaining wolves doesn't stand a chance against the current Ace but for him to unlock a couple of new skills, he had to eliminate the wolves currently out hunting in the forest separately from the boss.

Scanning his surroundings for ways to track the wolves, his eyes fell on the paw print made on the floor. He cautiously and slowly closed the distance between him and the paw print, trying his best not to alert any nearby wolves he might have missed.

His hands fell on the paw print, feeling its warmth and texture before tracing it toward a few wolves he swiftly handled along the way.

The wolves were a few meters away from each other, so it was easy for him to take care of them as silently and as swiftly as possible.

He continued his silent tracking across the forest before his eyes fell upon a couple of freshly made paw prints. He felt the texture as before but this time, he heard the snapping sound of twigs being stepped upon.

Swiftly, he hid behind a tree, noticing the sufficient distance between him and the wolf. He could see the wolf was currently too occupied to notice his presence.

This was his chance.

He steadily strode towards the wolf before slashing it from behind.

The wolf turned into pixels, dropping an item as well.

Within the past few minutes, Ace had been grinding the wolves across the forest, tracking them down easily due to his heightened senses which kept on improving as he continued to use (Perception skills). Now he had leveled up, his experience points had also increased as well.

But that wasn't all, two new skills were added to his current skills.

Due to Ace leveling up, he was awarded ten attribute points. The attribute points were divided equally to his Agility and Luck attributes enabling him to easily acquire the two aforementioned skills.

This makes the total skills he had acquired to be four. Though his progress in the game far outweighs his first experience, still he knew he could do more, he could be much faster than his current speed.

No matter what happens, he had to level up as fast as he could to become stronger than Night Fury. His mind drifted towards their fateful encounter but before he could completely dwell on those thoughts, the sound of dried leaves being stepped upon snapped him out of his stupor.

Ace turned back to notice the five-meter-tall Alpha Dire Wolf staring furiously at him. 

"It wasn't in the den?!" Ace exclaimed, surprised that the boss wasn't actually in its den.

It turns out the boss had split the pack into two as they went foraging for food. Ace had taken care of the first group which meant the boss was out scavenging with this current group.

Filled with a plethora of emotions after watching its comrades die by this sinister little being standing before it, the alpha Wolf howled intending to inform the others to return to its current location.

After howling for the second, third, and fourth time with no response being heard, the wolf's eyes turned crimson. Its subordinates were most likely no more and the human standing before it could most likely be the cause of it.

 Ace launched a kiss toward the boss before sending the boss a mocking wink.

"You're mad? Don't be. You'll join your comrades soon enough,"

The alpha Wolf howled in anger and swung its paw toward its target. Ace confronted it head-on while deftly dodging and slashing the boss's neck.

The boss still stood with little health bar remaining. The alpha Wolf tried desperately to stop the foe from belittling it but its efforts became futile immediately when Ace landed a fatal hit by slashing toward its tendons.
