Inside the bathroom of a luxurious modeled motel, the last air bubble of a man submerged underneath the soapy bath water surged and popped towards the surface.

*Pop*

Ace had died.

As if taking a moment of silence, the room was suddenly filled with a ghastly stillness.

A few seconds passed by and.....

"Fuaah!!" Like a phoenix rising from its ashes and experiencing the luxury of rebirth, Ace rose with his hands clutched tightly to the sides of the tub.

His heartbeat was still beating rapidly by the last image he had witnessed.

He could not believe what he had just seen but based on how strange his life had been till this very moment, he immediately brush off the unsteady feeling of uneasiness and vulnerability weighing him down.

Slowly and steadily, Ace stood up from the tub.

"Woah!!" His soapy legs slipped and toppled a bit on the cold ceramic tiles.

With his eyes still containing a bit of soap in them, Ace cautiously strode towards the sink, six feet away from his current location.

His objective was to cleanse the last bit of soap still lingering on his face.

Water flowed out of the valve which he used to clean his face, Ace stared into the mirror but the excitement within him couldn't be contained anymore as his lips involuntarily curled upwards.

"I am back,"

He smiled towards the mirror.

At first, he had his doubts but after glancing towards the reflection of his black silky hair which stopped at the base of his chin, and the chaotic bloodlines in his eyes caused by the few soapy liquids that had seeped into them, Ace couldn't help but believe he had somehow being gifted a second chance to make things right for himself.

Just a few seconds ago, he was in the middle of an intense battle for survival with the remnants of the once initial eighty thousand criminals across the globe.

At the time, he found it odd that the leader of the party he was up against had a peculiar interest in him.

Not until his final moments, caused by the cold steel that had been pierced through his heart, just like his fellow party leader and members, did Ace finally understand why the other party's leader was so obsessed with him.

"How does it feel to die at the hands of the same man that took the lives of everyone you held dear!!," The party leader growled accompanying it with maniacal laughter.

In a fit of fury, Ace tried to retaliate but his attack was too insignificant and too late as the notification of the system rang through his mind.

[Player "Zero" is dead]

Such cruelty. The very reason why he was inadvertently tossed into the survival game was standing right before him and he couldn't do anything.

He hadn't been offered the chance to extract the truth from the leader.

Why did he kill my family?

Why did he kill my girlfriend?

What was his objective in ruining my life?

Ace often asked himself these questions countless times throughout his first stint in the game. However, there was no one to provide an answer to these questions.

Even during his last few seconds in the game. Ace couldn't understand the reason for the leader's animosity towards him.

Moving on,

Ace glanced towards his body to notice his drenched clothes dripping beads of water on the cold white tiles.

After glancing around the scenery, he was able to comprehend his current situation.

His previous self had sought a means to escape from the brutal current reality which he was unwilling to accept by drowning himself.

He had felt bereft after the death of his loved ones a few hours ago which was somehow revealed to the world to have been caused by his own doing.

A few hours ago, unbeknownst to Ace, his parents, siblings, and girlfriend had been called over to his very own abode.

The indoor surveillance cameras revealed Ace to be the one standing before a pile of bodies with droplets of crimson blood originating from the dagger he held in hand.

Somehow the video had been released to the internet, attracting the attention of the local police force towards the real Ace's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, at the time of the event, the real Ace was currently at the university.

With him being apparently in his third year, he aimed to do his best to live a happy boring life with his girlfriend.

*Ring!!*

He answered his phone call.

"Hehe... I would be running if I were you..... read the twenty-four-hour news,"

That was all the voice behind the call said.

"What..... is this a prank call?"  He mulled.

Even if it was a prank call, Ace didn't like the tone of the caller and this led to various emotions sprouting from within him.

He swiped the screen of his phone and navigated towards the 'Twenty-four-hour news app,'.

"What the....!!" Ace roared at the peak of his voice, attracting the attention of everyone in the class including the professor.

"Anything you would like to share with the rest of the class?" The professor turned towards Ace.

Ace abruptly stood up from his seat and replied. "Nothing Professor," He fumbled a bit with the books on his table and the cell phone he had with him which threatened to drop to the ground.

He hurried to grab it before hitting the floor.

"Phew!! That was a close one," Ace hugged his phone tightly to his chest before it slips to the ground.

"Ahh!!" He was shocked.

His fellow coursemates noticed this and chuckled at his weird body movement. "Haha...."

Ace excused himself from the lecture hall and glanced towards his phone once again.

His family and girlfriend had been killed and the police were currently in his house investigating the incident.

But that wasn't all, a video of someone Ace had never made contact with was uploaded to the internet. The man claimed to have been working directly under Ace who was known to his lackeys and all notorious criminals worldwide as 'Zero'.

Criminal acts in this world had proliferated at an exponential rate over the years. The recent murder of famous politicians and their relatives was revealed to have been done by 'Zero'.

Now the federal agencies were hot on his tail. Ace had no choice but to leave the country or to join the same fate as his family.

He chose the latter. It wasn't an option, he had made up his mind to join them.

This lead to Ace finding himself here in this motel.
