[Master Uriel’s perspective]
Its been a couple decades since the small sect I hid in became the Breeze Yin Sect, after being the sect leader for a couple years I gave it over to one of The Great Yin Sect to put their own person there for a position in the main sect, I was given a mountain hear their main sect. I brought my student there and we worked on our cultivation, Elise took many missions to travel far whilst I stayed at the main sect. She went on a long journey almost out of nowhere and I became busy for years with what she would call Sect drama. The demonic sects have a new demon saint who has been causing stirs around the continent.
Within The Great Yin Sect there are rumors of the other sects targeting us, the outer disciples are being attacked more often and going missing more in the last decade. I lean back into an incredibly soft sofa and sigh as I think about how cruel the cultivation world is, I have hidden away from it for decades and protected my student as best as I could.
This sofa thing is strange, its from a recently expanding kingdom that has claimed a lot of land through the inhabitants of the land rebelling. The sect asked me to investigate but over the several years I have been here I haven’t worked out anything, it is completely different to when I came here. Every few months something changes about the commoner’s daily lives in a positive way. The city is full of strange structures working with formations to create a wide web of water underground called sewage. Every house in the city has access to water and a dangerous chain of lightning, it wasn’t deadly lightning, but it powered formation-like objects in the house.
I should visit my student soon, I haven’t seen her in over a decade and having seen the schools here I feel I have failed as a teacher, this is a strange nation but if it survives it could lead to a great change in the world. If enough cultivators grow up in this environment and with their knowledge of mortals and cultivators working together, they could change the norm of the world. And it is very likely that will happen because a certain type of school here called Martial halls, they teach a simple cultivation method and weak skills, but the difficulty of these methods are many times lower than the great sects, I can see much potential in these methods too as in three short years they have recreated the core methods twice to increase greatly.
Before I see my student I should find a gift at the auction tomorrow.
[Elise’s perspective]
Master Uriel was approaching, I had to rush Luka to stop the defense formations from harming her, she did so with a strange wire that stabbed into the ground. I hadn’t seen my teacher in over a decade, and all her letters talk about her being busy with sect business. She hasn’t changed much at all in all the decades I have known her, her being on the path to ascension means she will be like that for centuries if nothing bad happens. Her hair cherry blonde kept at a length to barely reach her shoulders. I can see her eyes from here, ruby red with a secret blaze to them always staring brightly at me. Oddly enough she isn’t wearing one of her normal robes that Luka calls ancient robes, she actually has one of those new outfits, a mix of robe and dress which hug her figure and support her chest whilst keeping her modest looking, she truly looks like a fairy with that outfit.
“Elise, what has happened with this mountain? The qi is strange and magical! Did a natural treasure birth here recently? We need to be prepared for visitors of the ill intent kind!” My teacher rushes to question and order me as she lands in the courtyard. I had stopped watching Luka work to come greet my teacher Uriel. I keep my senses on the room ba puppet, in case it sneaks to grab a sword again, I swear it is sentient.
“Its okay Master, we just did some renovations, and everything is the result of the renovations, no one will be bothering us alone any time soon.” I explain to my teacher as I gesture to lead her to the guest house. Surprisingly, she doesn’t react how I expected to the guest house.
“Did you find knowledge of the ancient civilization too? There is a distant kingdom that has been studying knowledge like this.” Oh, so she was in Luka’s home-kingdom of this life. Now I want to tease her about it. I search my storage ring for any of Luka’s books that she intends to put into the world.
“I do have a book with that kind of knowledge, see if you understand it.” I pull out one of the new world volumes, she wrote all the volumes when she went into a writing trance for a whole month, and she said she could make a space habitat with the information in them. My teacher’s eyes widen as she shows me a book with a similar cover with Luka’s signature, I learnt it was actually letters she knew that were different to ours. She trades our books and begins flipping through the thick book.
“This… this! This could change so much, the formations here might work in the Void! And this, it could defeat even Spirit realm cultivators using nothing but ambient qi… the things in this book are powerful and dangerous. You have not shown anyone else this book right?” Uriel grows flustered as she continues reading, saying her last point with full seriousness. I try to suppress the smirk on my face.
“Oh, why yes, I told someone about this, and she said she wanted to show the world!” I fake the worry in my voice as my master grows solemn and serious.
“Who was it, can we still kill her?” Uriel turns scary with her determination that might even kill an immortal, wait Luka might count as an immortal so that isn’t a good thing. I will clear her confusion.
“Do you know what this double character word is on the covers?” I ask.
“No? … what does that matter though, we need to be careful this does not end up with someone like the demonic sects.” Uriel is speechless for a moment before bringing up an important point I had also brought up with Luka before, she then explained about how pure qi and demonic qi are not compatible and demonic qi is actually a better way than working with elemental qi for cultivators and that explained by demonic sects never disappeared.
“It is the author’s signature.” I tell Uriel as I bring out one of Luka’s more serious papers, she used the characters she told me about.

“Author? That cannot be! So many fields covered in just two books alone and that kingdom had a department for double ancient studies, that is what they called the ancient force these books are from!” That is interesting, there is a whole group studying Luka’s work in the kingdom she was born in.
“Yep author, look here are some of her more recent notes, you will see those two characters used often, one of them is actually a number.” I show the paper to my teacher as I wrap it in qi just in case since Luka might get mad if I lost it, and although pouting Luka is cute, angry Luka is not.
“I see… It does occur often in these words, what do these mean though? It is nothing like our characters and some of them are very similar shape… Wait recent?! What do you mean recent?!” Uriel tries to shake me by my shoulders, but I focus and stop her. Taking a few moments to calm my master down, I get my focus back and remember something, oh no.
“We need to quickly go this way, the author is this way, don’t ask questions, don’t resist, this is for your own safety.” I take my teacher’s wrist and drag her to Luka’s workshop, the soft hum of a certain puppet begins to sound in the distance, unsure if it will look for a rematch or to test the new arrival I panic slightly but we make it into Luka’s lab as a sword beam hits the door behind us this a slight ding. Luckily, Luka’s laboratory is stronger than anything I have ever seen before.
“Where are we?! What is this qi, was that a puppet behind us? Why did it have a heavenly-grade artifact?” I clamp my hand over her mouth to shut her out as I try and find Luka in the building, feeling it larger than before, much larger than before.
“Quiet, that puppet might have been the worst thing this mountain has, but I at least know how to deal with it, some of the things in here can mysteries even to me, Luka should be this way” I use the amulet for the direction to head as I lead Uriel through different racks of research results and bookshelves full of books and other objects called prototypes by Luka. After a minute of walking quickly through winding rows of benches, shelves, and bookcases I find Luka watching a hologram, I see a sprawling army, the flag of different great sects are lined up as thousands of disciples stand in rows, a cultivator on a podium giving some kind of speech and earning cheers from the audience plays out before us.
“That is all the great sects and many of the other sects! What are they grouping for?! Wait are there only men there, that would mean-“
“Means war, by the way, welcome Uriel, master of Elise, nice to meet you since we never truly met in my last life. I wonder if they are aiming the demonic sect since it’s the same over there too.” Luka cuts off my frantic teacher as the hologram splits into two parts, the second half displaying a sea of demonic cultivators, a black and red blanket covering the ground as they cheer in a similar fashion to the great sect army.
“Wait, are you that girl? The one that cursed the land with that weird qi?! I don’t think they are, I think The Great Yin Sect will be their target… The men, they cannot cultivate the same with us around stopping them from their ‘harvesting’ actions and you have helped with that yin holy land or yin cursed land as other sects put it.” My master guesses and explains, making sense considering how the world works for cultivators. My rage boils again like when we were in the small sect decades ago, the very act that separated us before.
“Yes, this is Luka, she doesn’t know why she is reincarnated but she is the same girl as back then, we have lived here together for over a decade.” I answer my master’s questions as Luka begins fiddling with some devices near the holograms.
“Okay so, this should be a problem right? They just declared a war and now I know it is The Great Yin sect and that is apparently where we are. So can I give our declaration of war in return?” Luka finally looks to us, her eyes on me and I know her question was directed at me. Her trust given to me as she knows she sometimes make dangerous decisions.
“Wait, declare war?! Do not do anything without a meeting with the elders, they obviously have more peak transformation soul stage cultivators than The Great Yin Sect!” My master starts talking as if we were in line with The Great Yin Sect, not knowing I am far above them in power myself, let alone Luka and her formations together.
“Yes, you can Luka” I reply, she smiles at my understanding and nods as she presses a button. Several moments later both the holograms show an object falling from the sky, my master grows speechless as she sees the flaming objects in the sky.
“Heaven’s wrath?!” Uriel exclaims giving a name to what Luka just did. The holograms continue to show the scene as the objects grow closer, some of the cultivators on the scene notice and try and attack the objects, seeing now they are long cylinders, I wonder if they are some kind of improved room ba, nothing either group does stop the falling pillars.
Hell, the scene became hell in seconds, on impact they obliterated hundreds of cultivators. Higher realm ones survived the initial impact but many of those were burnt by the heat, crumbling ground or spewing liquid lava that is bursting from the ground, Uriel looks horrified as she watches whilst Luka looks on with intrigue. I considering lecturing Luka about what she should and should not do from now on, but I remember my rage, the boiling feeling in my heart, the anger and sadness caused by the very thing this war is about. I didn’t need to lecture the one I care about, I needed to do something else.
“Let the war begin, let’s cure this world” I declare to the room with likely only two others. I will let room ba be free upon them.
