Chapter 2: 2 : Base Camp!

After a few minutes of appreciating the view Max pats himself and stands up. ‘I should really be looking for civilization’ he thinks, before shrugging his shoulders. ’Eh, whatever.’ He begins investigating the surrounding area for a spot to sleep and build a fire. After finding one, he sweeps the small area clear of debris with shoes, kicking up dust. When the cloud eventually settles, the System gives him an alert. 

 

[Ding! You have created your first base camp!]

[Small Wooden Shed Received!]

 

Pleasantly surprised, Max uses the System to place the pre-built shed on the forest side with the door facing the river. The shed is just long enough for Max to lay down comfortably and he has to slightly duck when standing up.

 

    Chopping up some fallen trees and picking up sticks, he sets up a fire pit in the dirt clearing. The dimming sun disappears under the horizon of trees as he scrapes the fire starter. The warmth radiating from the fire and the safety from the shed lulls Max’s to sleep.

 

    Waking up refreshed, Max washes himself in the river. A loud rumble is made by his stomach. As his only known source of food he hikes back to the berry bush. ‘I would rather not have to walk all this way’ He curses to himself. After eating his full, he digs around part of the roots with the hatchet. Carrying the plant back to camp. On the way back he spots some mushrooms sprouting from a rotted log, slicing off a few stems.
