It was barely past ten o’clock of the evening as Christopher Churchill was awakened by the commotion outside his tent. Alighting from his tent, he saw the youngest member of his team dumbly looking at the cloud of dust where their prisoner is supposed to be.
Cain raises his right hand, and slowly, strong light magic coalesces into an orb.
“Sigh,” Christopher face palms at the sight of Cain who is about to dish out his strongest magic. “Cain, stop that, will you? Your magic might alert the Witch Queen.”
Cain hearing his boss looks apologetically for his blunder. “Sorry, captain. That grasshopper bastard is annoying me.”
“It is fine, let him go.” Christopher crosses his arms and lectures Cain in a patient manner. “Lady Salem’s magic can hide our presence from the powerhouses of this continent, but we can’t be so sure.”
“Sorry boss,” Cain apologizes once more. He feels heavy with guilt.
“It is fine. You are young, so it’s okay that you make mistakes sometimes. Just don’t repeat the same mistakes again.” Christopher softly comforts Cain.
In the middle of their conversation, a blonde woman suddenly intrudes between the two. “You are too soft on Cain. How in heavens will he grow stronger if you cuddle him?”
Christopher smiles at the aggressive warrior. “It’s fine. I trust in Cain.”
“Hmmm…” Joan pats Christopher’s back and smiles. “Okay. Let’s make a baby then.”
Christopher twiddles his brown hair, too embarrassed of Joan’s words.
Meanwhile, Cain is too flummoxed by what he heard, he started questioning his life. ‘How did their conversation even go into that place? Seriously? Make a baby?’
“Stop it, Joan… Let’s focus on the job. Okay?”
With a single breath, Christopher dispels the awkward atmosphere. “Cain, return to your tent. Rest well tonight. Tomorrow, we will attack the Witches’ Forest.”
!!!
‘Isn’t that too reckless?’ Cain suppresses his doubts before he even utters them.
Cain believes in his captain. If he thinks attacking the Witches’ Forest as soon as possible is for the best, then they should just do it.
“Wait, how about the night watch?”
At Cain’s inquiry, Christopher smoothly replies.
“We don’t need any night watch anymore as the only one we wanted to keep watch after all was the prisoner. Now that he has escaped, we don’t need a watch anymore as we can just rely on lady Salem’s magic to protect us.”
“O-okay,” Cain weakly affirms to Christopher’s words still guilty of his blunder.
Christopher watches Cain return to his tent.

The inside of the tent was compact but spacious… It feels like an illusion, but it is real. The tents after all they were using are the results of a top-of-the-notch Magic Tools research using the most advanced space expansion.

More than a tent, the insides of Cain’s room resembles his bedroom back in the Empire of Faith, Mecca Eden.

Meanwhile, just outside of the tent and sitting by the bonfire are Cristopher and Joan.
The two silently watch the fire dance in its own unique rhythm.
Joan cannot take it anymore, so she fires her question away. “This mission, captain. Is that ‘that’ mission?”
By ‘that’, Joan was referring to an old-aged mission that the church 'always' failed in accomplishing. The hunt for the blood witch, Enoteca, the being who is infamously known to be one of the most fearsome ancient magic users said to have committed ‘great evil’ since hundred years ago.
What is this evil? No one can really tell. The blood witch is a very mysterious existence. Her age, first name, her origins… all of them were a mystery to the world.
Except by the name ‘Enoteca’ and her now moniker ‘Witch Queen’, there is literally nothing that people can connect to her. She is an enigma.
Of course, Joan is not afraid of fighting the Witch Queen, but it still bothers her that the status of their foe is so high above it kind of annoys her.
“Queen or not, I firmly believe she is nothing in the face of my faith in god.” Joan’s words aren’t wrong either.
Cristopher strongly agrees with Joan’s words. Faith Magic is an art that has been long refined since ancient times. Even to this day, the development of Faith Magic still continues on its unique path of belief and spiritualism.
Still, there would be exceptions…
Even with all of the might that Faith Magic possesses, there are just ‘things’ you shouldn’t kill.
“Joan, we are not here to slay the Witch Queen. We are here to keep her in check. While it is within our capabilities to kill her. Doing so will break the balance between the four kingdoms.
“The ‘Four Ends of the Cross,' doesn’t want a war to happen in this continent. The last thing we want is for a heroic champion to be born in this place. The only way our country can maintain its supremacy is through having the monopoly of champions.
“We have a different reason as to why we are here…”
Cristopher’s explanation is enough for Joan’s doubts.
However, a new question arises then. “So, what are we doing here?” Joan asks the obvious.
To this, Cristopher simply smiles and gives a succinct answer. “The witch of destiny.”
“…” Joan’s eyes dilate in utter shock. Her speechlessness reflects the feelings in her heart.
Cristopher exhales turbid air from his lungs as he lays bare their mission’s objective. “We are here to claim the girl who holds power over destiny.”
Closing his fist, Cristopher strongly emphasizes what should be done. “Should we fail on claiming the prize, we shall kill the girl.” A hint of bloodthirst leaks from his eyes, causing the silent night to become more silent.
Joan simply smiles at the sight before her.
