I can't remember much about my parents, at least my father. Bears aren't a pack or family species.

That is one of the major reasons I see myself as a lone bear. I may also be the only bear of this island, not that it was a hurdle. My first day on this island was fought with danger.

My level was just above average but soon I got to kno the importants of skills. I trained myself every hour, which was one of the time thingys human called, I was awake during the days.

Thos felines weren't a problem, the turtles neither as they were slow. It was those snakes and apes. The venom and hidding ability of those slithery things were a pain in the ass.

The monkeys did mostly group up before beating me to retreat. I killed many of them, I would even say that I was almost like those darn humans!

Why did we had to kill each other? I could understand those who needed flesh to survive. Were the others just killing for fun and exp? To show how much stronger they were?

It wasn't untill I met her, that I could somewhat understand the principal of the world. Was it bad or good that I tried to hunt some turtles? I don't know.

What did appear before me was something I could only describe as a god. Several tens of meters in height. Every step it took was like the cry which I still heard in my beautiful nightmare.

She didn't kill me, no. Her pressence alone was enough to forget my life. Majestic, beautiful or overwhelming. Whatever human words I knew of were a perfectly fit for her.

Run? No, if she wanted I would already be dead.

"A little bear, lost alone in a place he doesn't know. A bear caged, for most of his life, lost the things he loved. Why would you be so insistend on feeding of others existence?"

The voice I heard was soothing and clear. Like that human female which was on board with us. It reminded me of my mother.

I growled and tried to answer her but nothing I did was getting a reaction. It was not untill I heard her voice again that I knew how tiny I really was.

"Silence, young one. If you didn't belong here and me being this gracious, you would have become food for my children! You sound like a newborn baby throwing a tantrum!"

"You..understand me?"

"Sure I can, I lived long before your grandparents were even born! Maybe you will not understand that... I was born long before your lineage..no..meaningless. I have long forgotten how it was to talk to someone who didn't outright woreship me. Soo, what does a little bear like you do here?"

After several tries of communicating she finally decided to teach me words. Bananas wasn't just yellow food anymore, it was a banana.

She and her children came her every 4 years to lay their eggs. This was now the 4th time I met her.

"Grandma Furya! It's nice too se you healthy and in good mood!" The first and second meeting with her was mostly about learning how skills worked and öearning different words from her.

The third...she made me level up my skills with a method I don't want to say.

"Gmm little Tedd, you're doing fine as well! Acrobatic at level 82? I think you would be the first to ever reach level 100 in that!" The turtle was öazily laying in the sand after putting her eggs not far away.

"But its really hard! I tried every possible method and I only got 8 levels within 4 years!" Why was the difference of leveling up so hard? Thit that thing which made the system do that on purpose?

The turtle could only laugh "my dear bear, if you reach level 100 in any skill, you would be a bearer of it. Do you know what that means? You will be the law or rule itself! Who wouldn't want that? Is it easy? No! This grandma here only has several skills reaching its max."

Not fair! How could she compare me and her?! She was the manifestation of water! No, she made herself that. She was a normal turtle long ago.

"You can't compare my young self with yo-y-your beautiful appearance! You look majestic and intimidsting, I am only a sad little bear!" I knew that this wouldn't work, I still had to try and save some of my fell. This wasn't going to end well for me anyway...

"Ohhh, say. How is it going with you defense nowadays?" I knew it, she just wants to torture me now. You could raise defense by getting hit multiple times and so on. It may not raise your stats much but even a drop is worth something.

I also got to know that there was a difference between sapient and sentient beings. No wonder those apes were weird even though they had such a good combination together.

We both heard a sound before grandma could even hit me.

...

...

Wasn't that the voice of that human? If he wanted to provoke me, hmpf, no way I would fall for that.

I saw him spy several times from a distance, the last time he even had a grin on his face. Did he think I didn't saw that and don't know what such a smile on a human meant?

"It seems you are being challenged ittle bear? Is it the little human from before?" Wait grandma saw him? Couldn't she just make him dissapear? I have enough problems with those apes..

"Wait, apes? Hahaha that human actually climbed the mountain with those hatefull apes. Serves him right!" I couldn't help but feel happy! You want to lure me into a trap? Well, it seems you got yourself in one first!

Sadly, things weren't as one wanted and second how one wanted.

"Yes, the perfect punishment. Help that boy survive. If not, well, you should hope I don't want to stretch a little bit!"

A big smile was on grandma's face. I could understand why too. Stretch? She killed of a Roc last time she was here!

That thing was huge, huge like hundreds of meters. Just a little sneeze of her did delete it from this world though. How can one deny her "request".

"Grandma, that human wants to kill me! After I help him he will surerly kill me off for exp! Do you not love me anymore?!" I tried to use my best puppy eyes. Didn't work.

"Hmpf, don't slander my intelligence. Also, who does love you? You did never show up for my birthdays! Just for your informatiin. If you want to leave this island and see the world for yourself, this boy is the best ticket for that." The voice changed from a clear angel like one to a demon before changing back.

Birthday?! How the hell should a bear dive down several kilometers to attend a birthday banquet under water! Also, my best ticket? I could just swim if I wanted to leave!

I may not outswim those bigger fishes but they don't hunt on sea level normally!

"Gra-?!?" Before I could even finish I was thrown to the top of the mountain. I just hoped that the little human would really not kill me off.

If I didn't help him, grandma would kill me. I knew she didn't joke. If i helped him, the boy could try to kill me and grandma may not be helping me survive.

In the future, I wish I could have go back to that time. Free from ties and chains. Having a friend who would die for me.
