Chapter 13: Kings of the hill

The Terror Ape King was looking at the newcomer dumbfounded. That bear? Why? He could even fly?

One of his underlings was dead instantly, the other had some breath left in it. Fighting was out of the question though.

"RooAaAR" with all it's might it did let out a roar to tell its subordinates to attack together.

Dar looked at the wounded ape and used Identify.

Name: Terror Ape

Level: 219

HP: 900/2300

Mana: 1150/1500

Strenght: 3200

Deff: 2250

Agility: 3150

"Good hit Teddy! After were done here we have to get to know each other better!"  Dar didn't wait and send an icicle towards the ape and rooted him on the spot with earth.

It may have been an overkill but he couldn't look out for his mana reserves.

Teddy looked at the human child in annoyance. Did it think he was dumb? Closely avoiding the earth missile from the Terror Ape King it readied itself for the battle.

It could avoid 3 of the pincer attacks but the fourth one would be a hit. It didn't worry about that, wasn't the first time taking one from them!

To his surprise there wasn't a feel of pain from his left side. There was a boy throwing an ape away where he gazed at the side he knew there would be a hit.

"GroOawl" it was a thank you growl which he did let out. Teddy threw itself at the ape which was thrown to get a critical.

Dar was huffing and puffing as he appreciated the next confirmed kill of one of those apes. They both hadn't the time to let the leveling up be recognized. It didn't matter with Teddy but the level difference of Dar was just too high.

Dar felt the strenght which flew into him. He didn't know though how big a level leap he just took.

There were were already 3 apes down, only 8 more to go. Dar and Teddy adjusted themself side by side. No communication was needed. If a a sapient being was here and saw their teamwork. They would be surprised.

Some adewntures didn't have that much teamwork after several fights together. How come these two were such a good pair?

Four attacks were incoming on the pair, two more apes were positioning themself behind them. A rock made one of the two apes stumble, a paw cut of its head.

The second ape, which came from the left, could only watch his mates miss all of their attacks. Another icicle was stuck into its shoulder. Letting it cry in pain. A blade made out of wind decapitated it.

 Dar and Teddy were frolocking from their next confirmed kiil. The ground beneath Dar was suddenly rising up, making him float in the air.

Dar was only puzzled for a second before realizing that the Ape King used his earth element. It was clear that the affinity of these primates lay there.

Dar knew that a 1v1 was not an option for him. Let alone his missing HP and Mana, the seven other apes could get a hit in. He realized that one of the Terror Apes was out of line and instantly charged him from atop his high ground.

Teddy which was encircled by the other seven apes was scared. At least untill he saw which direction that human flew to. That's it! Was the only thought in his mind.

The ape which got charged at by Teddy was smilling. I will let you hit me but you're dead!

The hit came as anticipated but the velocity was the wrong direction. Why was it flying towards the bear? It saw the smirk on the face of the bear and knew that it was dead.

The body flew towards one of the apes nearest to hit Teddy. The head was flying skillfull towards a headbutt of the second nearest.

As the Terror Ape King saw that there was no worth in the battle it let out it third and final scream.

On command the 6 apes alive returned behind the him. He disn't understand how the teamwork of those two different races was so good. The problem was not how their teamwork was so good though. The problem was that only he was near sapients. If all of his tribe were sapient, there wouldn't have been much of a challenge in fighting those two. 

It would still have been a challenge but nothing more. Almost half of his subordinates were dealt with, within a minute or two! How infuriating!

"Oy Teddy, looks like the big boss is coming. Do you want to try it yourself? I will give you the honor!" Dar was telling Teddy in a funny way that there was no way he could help out here at the moment.

His stats didn't look to good after taking those hits. Especially the ground which raised him up. He broke an ankle to help out this bear. He could fight it alone, right?

Teddy looked at Dar dumbfounded. What did that human mean? Did he think he was any better? He saw the scars and the broken leg on him. Did he see his injuries though?

The entrance it made did cost him almost half his HP! His organs were shaking from that force. Who told grandma Furya to be that strong?!?

Dar could only laugh at Teedy looking at him like some kind of clown show.

"Well, it seems we are royaly fucked. His stats aren't anything to laugh about! Get me a minute of time and I can finish him. I don't know exactly what will happen but I still got a trump card!" Dar was thinking about his newly achieved skill again, Granting. The skill was weird enough in itself but the information he got from it was... unexplainable to himself. 

How would this turn out? He didn't know. He trusted the bear to make that minute work though.

Teddy looked at Dar and let out a mighty roar which it didn't since his mother was killed.

"Fuck it! My mother saved me, Furya gave my knowledge and this tiny human saved me! What's a minute in contrast to that apes live!" So it charged. Charged head on to certain doom.

A hit from that king would make it crippled, a second would mortally wound it. The third.. well there would be no fourth!

What all atop the mountain fighting each other, didn't know was. There was a mountain above them watching all of it with a smile.

"Mhmm, that should be enough. I'm sorry for you little ones. Your destiny shall continue."

A breeze made all of the Terror Apes stand in fear. The King was the only one who had enough strenght left to look up. His eyes were making it clear to everyone who could watch them.

"Why benefector? Why would you dispose us?!" A clean slice decapitated all the apes. Dar was thunderstruck ad he saw that. That bear was insane!! 

"Why didn't you do that sooner you stupid bear!? No wonder you are called Teddy with a majestic body like yours!"

The bear in question, Teddy, didn't know how to answer. What the hell did that human mean? Did he seriously think that it did that?

Synchronized did both of the parties fall to the ground in pain. No energy was left in both of them. This battle was to hard on them. A little accident and both would have been dead.

"Master! Use Granting on them!" Systa's voice echoed in his head at that moment. Couldn't he catch a break for once?

Struggeling to get up he raised his hands towards the corpses of apes before him. It was the same direction in which Teddy lied.

"I knew those humans couldn't be trusted grandma!!" A low growl came out of Teddy's mouth as he too, stood up and readied himself for the final battle.

The mountain in the air looked at those two below with a gaze full of symphatie.

"They are both one of a kind"
