Chapter 48: “I, like, you.”…

Zhou Jingze took out his phone and lowered his head as if scrolling through something. After the two walked out of the school gate, there happened to be a taxi waiting for them. The two sat in the back row, and he took out his phone and booked a hotel. His thumb scrolled on the screen. The young master first screened the highest-rated hotels with the best accommodations.

Xu Sui leaned over and glanced at it. The price was staggeringly expensive, and she immediately went to grab his phone and hurriedly said, “I just need a place to study, don’t need to book such an expensive one.”

Zhou Jingze paused his thumb and raised his head with a half-smile, handing over the phone: “Okay, my wife also knows how to save some money for me.”

Xu Sui was a little shy from being teased. She took the phone and scrolled through the app, booking a room that didn’t look too bad and was priced at a good deal.

The car arrived at the destination, and the two got off. Xu Sui searched around according to the address on the phone and felt like she was walking in a circle. Finally, she found that the hotel was in an alley, and the signboard displayed stood in front of the shop. She had an ominous feeling.

It felt like hanging a sheep’s head while selling a dog’s flesh.

Sure enough, after they found their destination, Xu Sui found that it was an Inn Express hotel. The front hall was very small, and the receptionist yawned while opening their cards for them. Zhou Jingze politely said, “thank you”.

Hearing the voice, the front desk receptionist immediately raised her head and became more energetic; her eyes lit up a little after seeing Zhou Jingze’s face clearly: “706, go up the elevator and turn left.”

After arriving at 706, he swiped the room card to enter the door, and a burst of dust fell. Zhou Jingze’s expression cracked. After the lights were turned on, he looked around and saw a bed, a table, a purple lace sofa from the 70s, and an electric kettle without a plug and two cups on it.

There was a musty smell in the room. Zhou Jingze raised his hand to touch the wall, and water seeped out. Xu Sui compared the pictures on the Internet and found that she had been deceived miserably.

Knowing that Zhou Jingze was obsessed with cleanliness, she wrinkled her nose and said in a low voice: “Why don’t we switch to another one?”

After saying that, she turned around and was about to leave. Zhou Jingze grabbed her hand and let out a slight laugh: “This is fine. If we keep going around, you won’t even be able to review the book.”

Xu Sui glanced at the time and immediately put down her bag, taking out her book and reviewing it at the desk. Zhou Jingze followed slowly, holding a lighter in his hand. Orange flames jumped out of the tiger’s mouth from time to time. He was checking for hidden cameras.

Zhou Jingze is just like this. He looks lazy and carefree on the surface, but in fact, he does things surely and reliably.

After checking around and making sure there was none, Zhou Jingze took a chair and sat down next to Xu Sui. Seeing her carefully reviewing, he raised his hand and pinched her face, raising his eyebrows:

“That short on money ah?”

Xu Sui felt guilty and licked her lips: “Yes.”

Zhou Jingze raised his eyebrows and didn’t speak. He took out his wallet from his trouser pocket and pulled out a card from it, putting it in front of Xu Sui:

“Your boyfriend has money.”

Xu Sui raised her head from the book. She looked into Zhou Jingze’s eye and realized that he was not joking and shook her head: “I don’t want it, I want to participate in the competition myself to get the prize money.”

“And— who knows, maybe you’ll have to rely on me to raise you in the future.” Xu Sui said in a low voice.

Zhou Jingze was stunned for a moment, then chuckled amusedly, his chest trembling without restraint: “Okay, then the husband will wait for you to raise later.”

Xu Sui made a cross gesture to him, and Zhou Jingze stopped disturbing her and played on the sidelines. After playing on the phone for a while, uncomfortable that the bed here was not clean, he squinted his eyes and leaned back on the chair, and fell asleep.

Two hours later, Xu Sui finally went through everything. She shook Zhou Jingze’s arm, her eyes sparkling: “I’m done reviewing, can you help test me.”

“Okay.” Zhou Jingze opened his eyes, his tone was lazy.

Xu Sui sat by the bed. Zhou Jingze stepped on the horizontal bar, sat on the chair, and leaned back, flipping through her Neuroscience book, and said in a casual tone, “P45 second paragraph.”

“I–” Xu Sui recalled and was about to recite it, Zhou Jingze flipped ahead, paused, and asked, “p70, the second to last paragraph, one of the neurological diseases, neurosis… ”

“P72, the case study in the third paragraph from the top, the sixth word in the beginning.”

Xu Sui counted on her fingers and subconsciously said: “Like.”

Zhou Jingze flipped through the pages but didn’t find what he wanted “tsk” and said, “What’s the second person pronoun?”

“You.”

“Connect these words together.” Zhou Jingze lowered his voice, his tone coaxing.

Xu Sui thought that Zhou Jingze was playing a game with her and tried her best to connect the first few questions that the answer came out word by word:

“I, like, you.”

“Me too. ”

A low and faint voice fell on the top of her head. Xu Sui raised her eyes in a daze and bumped into a pair of dark and heavy eyes. It took her a while to understand. For some reason, Xu Sui wanted to cry a little.

Being with Zhou Jingze is sweet and sad. Oftentimes, she feels that time passes by too fast, but when she doesn’t see him, it feels like a long time. Xu Sui felt that her biggest delusion was to be with him, Zhou Jingze.

She never expected that Zhou Jingze would say that he liked her.

This time, Xu Sui saw herself in his eyes.

“You fouled.” Xu Sui sniffed, her eyes turning red.

A tall and straight figure shrouded over her, and Zhou Jingze’s lips pressed down, grinding again. Zhou Jingze held her head with one hand, moved his lips down, and freed up one hand to take off his clothes and put them on her body.

Xu Sui’s waist hit the edge of the bed, and it hurt. She felt the blue jeans she wore were pulled down between her knees. His thumb stroked her skin roughly and slowly, and their foreheads were pressed against each other.

The lights in the hotel room were dim and warm, like an orange that had been peeled. Xu Sui wanted to turn off the light, but Zhou Jingze refused. He twitched slowly, appreciating every inch of her expression.

Water seeped out of the wall again, slowly at first, and then it came out in big waves. The surges invaded, and the skin of the wall was peeled off. The old air-conditioning fan blades made a “squeak-squeak” sound, which was very rhythmic.

The air-conditioning fan blades moved very slowly. First, there was a prelude “zhi— zhi”, which is repeated slowly, and then it was like the acceleration of electricity, two short and five long, in a fast and powerful rhythm.

But it still couldn’t blow away the heat.

Sometimes fast, sometimes slow, Xu Sui felt that her vision was blurred, and her limbs ached. She found that Zhou Jingze liked to press her ribs, which sometimes hurt, causing her to frown.

Sweat dripped down the corner of his jaw onto her collarbone. Xu Sui felt like wrung clothes, but Zhou Jingze still refused to let her go, pressing against her ribs over and over again.

He seemed to want her to remember this moment and who the man in front of her was.

In the next second, Zhou Jingze ran his thumb along the hair from her forehead to the back of her ears. His eyelashes were slightly wet, and his voice was hoarse: “Who am I?”

Xu Sui was unbearably worn out. She felt like she was floating and sinking in the waves: “Zhou Jingze.”

With a “pa”, the neuroscience book fell on the damp floor. The wind blowing from the old-fashioned air conditioner in the room was a bit stuffy. As soon as the wind blew, the pages were flipped before it finally stopped on a human neural diagram.

There was a saying in human physiology that when you stare at a person’s eyes for a long time, you can see love, which is a message on the ends of the optic nerve. What do you see?

I like you a lot.

Me too.

——

At midnight, Xu Sui fell asleep and lay beside him. Her long hair was like a waterfall, and her eyes were closed, appearing as obedient as a doll. Zhou Jingze ran his fingertips through her hair. He didn’t wear anything on his upper body and only had a pair of black trousers on. He got up and smoked a cigarette.

Halfway through, Zhou Jingze put the cigarette beside the table and went to the bathroom. When he came back, the toilet in the bathroom was still making the flushing sound, and the screen of his phone lit up.

Zhou Jingze had a cigarette in his mouth, exhaling gray smoke from time to time. He turned on his phone, and a message appeared on the notification bar. When he clicked on it, it was a message from Ye Saining:

【Zhou, I have returned to China. This is the big surprise I wanted to tell you. Interesting enough, right? Came back to celebrate your birthday in person. Now I’m drinking with them at midnight, do you want to come over?】

A piece of cigarette ash fell on the screen of the phone. Zhou Jingze squinted his eyes and brushed away the ash with his thumb, typing in the message box and sending:

【You guys play, I’m with my wife.】
