Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Jonathan vs. Anbu I

'Water dragon jutsu!'

Jonathan stared as a massive water serpent made its way towards him.

Splash!

The impact caused it to drizzle a little. Jonathan managed to evade the attack before landing safely. When he looked, the other three Anbu appeared. 'That attack wasn't meant to hit me. It was used as a signal for the others,' Jonathan figured. Anbu were painstakingly scrupulous. They weren't like other ninjas. Not a single time did any of them even say one another's names either. But Jonathan knew who they were.

"He took both of ours down," the kunoichi said. All five of them each had their tantōs out. The fact Jonathan was able to take not just two Anbu, but even slay one, meant that he was troublesome. He could have easily escaped, but Jonathan wasn't planning to. The moment he understood who was fighting, he deemed it a necessity to test his new skills.

'Yūgao, Kō, Yōji, Yamato, Kakashi and lastly, Itachi Uchiha.' This wasn't any ordinary Anbu team. This was Team Ro, the best Anbu team!

A wood style user, two skilled sharingan users, a bug user, and a sensor. This team was overkill. It was the perfect moment for Jonathan to test himself.

Jonathan surmised that they likely came from a mission. Their sensor, Yūgao likely spotted him running with two dead corpses. When Jonathan understood it was her, he used his own sensing technique to hide his chakra. That was how he was able to enter his smoke form and use body oxidation jutsu to first take control of Yōji, their bug user. Unlike Kō, this was Yūgao's first time fighting Jonathan. If she was there the day he fought Kakashi and Shisui Uchiha, she would have recognized his chakra instantly.

Yōji Aburame was only ever mentioned in one of Itachi's novels. The only reason Jonathan recognized him was how he was trying to use an insect to track him. Jonathan knew he had to be taken down. But before he did, he lured Yamato to a safe area and knocked him out cold.

"This is still the same person, right?" asked Kakashi.

"Yeah. No doubt about it," Yūgao answered. "He was likely using a transformation when we found him earlier."

"Who are you and where are those bodies you hid?" Kakashi asked. Jonathan didn't answer. He knew that if he spoke, Kakashi would recognize his voice. That's how perceptive of a fine shinobi Kakashi Hatake was. Trying to use old techniques from the past wasn't also in his plan. Though Kakashi had the sharingan and could probably identify Jonathan via his chakra signature, Jonathan had long been mixing it with Kokuō's. It hadn't changed who he was, but it was enough to fool the sharingan.

Yūgao, on the otherhand, was a different matter. Jonathan might have to kill her because she identified his chakra signature. Jonathan had a handicap on him. He wouldn't be able to talk in his normal voice, nor would he be able to use past jutsu like the smoked technique. Even unleashing Kokuō's chakra was ill advised. Should word about this fight be reported, that Anbu from the Leaf fought a jinchūriki, it might reach the ears of others.

One specific person he did not want knowing about Kokuō was Zetsu. There was a severely high chance he was not watching this scene unfold right now; but, even if he was, Jonathan wouldn't give him the opportunity to discover he was the new jinchūriki. Then there was flying raijin. Jonathan wouldn't dare let his secret techniques be known so lightly.

But to say that Jonathan was at a disadvantage despite the handicap, would be one's mistake. It was the Anbu at the real disadvantage here. They knew nothing about Jonathan yet Jonathan knew everything about them.

"Don't let your guards down," Kakashi said while holding his tantō close. "Right now, we don't know what this guy's capable of." As he said this, Jonathan dashed forward towards Itachi!

Cling!

The two clashed tantō's together. 'No doubt about it,' Jonathan thought. 'He's using the sharingan behind that mask.' Jonathan twisted his blade and slashed horizontally causing Itachi to be pushed back in the air.

"He's fast!" Kō yelled. Yūgao was already on the move.

'Sharingan.'

Clang!

Both Yūgao's tantō and Kakashi's tantō were stopped by Jonathan's. He held his tantō vertically as they both struggled to push Jonathan. He hadn't moved. Jonathan could already see what was coming. They both leapt to the opposite side.

'Water style: water dragon jutsu!'

'Fire style: fireball jutsu!'

Itachi and Kō shot forth their techniques from each side. Ka-splash! Steam penetrated the area where Jonathan stood. Itachi placed his mask back on and looked up to see Jonathan flying above the ground. "What jutsu is that?" Kō wondered.

'Earth style: lightened boulder.'

Jonathan flew towards Yuago before releasing the technique. His tantō crashed into hers. 'He's targeting Yūgao! Does he know she's a sensor type?!' Kakashi questioned. 'This guy's too dangerous.' Jonathan could hear it before he knew it was coming.

'Lightning blade!'

Jonathan slammed his palm on the ground. 'Earth style: rupturing earth.' Yūgao tried to swing her sword, but the very ground crumbled underneath her, causing her to lose balance. Kakashi began leaping over the giant rocks. "Hmph," scoffed Jonathan. He grabbed one of the broken-up rocks with his bare hand.

'Earth style: sphere or grave.'

A giant thirty-foot (nine meter) boulder was thrown directly at Kakashi! Just when Jonathan let go, Itachi, Kō and Yūgao jumped at Jonathan simultaneously. Boom! As the boulder landed where Kakashi was, Jonathan spun his body and parried Itachi's tanto away. Kō saw an opening and swung horizontally at Jonathan's waste. "What?!" Kō said after Jonathan caught his wrist. Yūgao aimed for Jonathan's head but Jonathan twisted his body and kicked her away.

'Since you don't know how to properly swing that blade,' thought Jonathan. 'You won't need that arm, right?' Jonathan embedded lightning chakra into his tantō and sliced Kō's arm off!
