Closing the book, Jonathan rose from his spot and walked casually towards the door. By the time Jonathan opened the door, no one was there. Footsteps had already heard leaving the moment he rose from his spot.
It was evident that they weren't the sounds of an adult. They were quick and too light to be. The only person Jonathan could think of was Kabuto Yakushi. The thought of one of this world's soon to be greatest spies was already spying on him gave Jonathan a dreadful feeling. He would indefinitely kill Kabuto here and now to do this world justice, but then the events that would unfold in later years would likely never happen.
If Kabuto were to die now, Orochimaru's own plans would be altered. One of the biggest advantages Jonathan had in this world was knowing all the events that would occur. There were some gaps in between, but they were easily being filled effortlessly. As long as Jonathan didn't alter the original story too much, he'd know where to exactly place himself and how to act accordingly until the time was right.
Jonathan decided to end his training session here in case Kabuto was lurking behind the corners. It would look suspicious if he returned to Nonō's office. That would give Kaubto, if he were still around, the idea that Jonathan heard him.
When Jonathan returned to eat lunch with the other orphans, he sat alone as usual. Jonathan began concentrating on his chakra while eating casually. Regardless if he was sitting or talking, chakra could be exercised. No one here in the orphanage was a sensory ninja, someone who could sense the fluctuation of someone else's chakra. This allowed Jonathan to train without being noticed.
As Jonathan was doing so, Kabuto sat right across from Jonathan. He placed his bowl down and began eating as if it was normal. When Jonathan looked at him, he had an ignorant smile across his face. Jonathan returned to his covert training.
"Where were you today?" Kabuto asked.
"Nonō's office," Jonathan replied with a cold tone.
"What were you doing there?" Kabuto insisted.
Jonathan felt annoyed at Kabuto's question. It was quite obvious to him that Kabuto was trying to befriend Jonathan, but Jonathan wasn't looking for friends. Even if that friend would become one of the ninja world's greatest war enemies.
'Perhaps I should stab through the glasses Nonō gave him so he learns not to pry in other people's affairs,' Thought Jonathan.
"Reading," he replied holding his chop sticks firmly.
Kabuto felt a sense of joy when hearing that. Taking a bite of his lunch he said, "A medical book, right? They're the only books here actually. If you're trying to study medicine, it'd be a good idea to practice medical ninjutsu. Mother's looking for motivated healers."
At those words, Jonathan put his chop sticks down.
"I'd be more than willing to study under mom," he replied.
Kabuto felt alleviated when hearing that. Jonathan, however, would be the biggest victor.
