There hadn't been much going on within the Leaf since Jonathan last fought Izumi.
After this year's academy students graduated, the announcement for the Chūnin exam followed shortly. How Jonathan knew this was because he was currently spying in the Jōnin Standby Station while in his smoke form.
"This year's genin should be hot stuff this year," someone said.
"Are you kidding? No one this generation's gonna top last year's genin."
Jonathan was chiming in on a conversation between two unspecified Jōnin. They hadn't looked familiar to Jonathan. Rather, what they were discussing was what was more interesting. The Chūnin exams was a biannual event. After confirming the exams would be announced momentarily, Jonathan used this opportunity to sneak around.
Of the many things Jonathan hadn't been aware of, it was his own affinity. Every ninja had a special affinity for one of the five basic elements. Back at the orphanage, Jonathan had only tested what his affinity might be. But he never concluded that it was indefinitely that. What he discovered back then was that he was more prone to the lightning element.
Now that Jonathan had the right means of getting around secure areas in the Leaf Village, he ventured here to the Jōnin Station. Hearing two Jōnin discussing the Chūnin exams was only an add-on to his real target, their storage unit. Slipping through many cracks and crevices, Jonathan made it directly to where needed to be without being noticed.
In this area were documents, tools and even wanted flyers. It wasn't a locked room but it didn't have to be. Jonathan could have easily slipped through a keyhole or even under the door if needed. The Jōnin Station had many departments. Most of which were open offices for ninja to report to or be assigned their missions. Throughout the day, the station had multiple ninja scurrying about to conduct their business.
Jonathan was in the storage room by himself. He had to search three other rooms until he found where he needed to be. It looked no different than a breakroom back at a business office from earth. With the door closed, Jonathan opened several cabinet drawers whilst still in his vapor form. Despite being a cloud of vapor, Jonathan could still physically interact with things.
After searching the room, Jonathan finally found what he was looking for. Inside one of the cabinets was as stack of neatly cut paper. This paper was known as the chakra induction paper. Reverting back to his physical form whilst using the transformation technique to appear as one of the Jōnin he saw earlier, Jonathan grabbed one of the slips of paper. He didn't need to take it with him but he did need to hold it. When a ninja with chakra touched this paper, it would cause a reaction to help identify what element that ninja had the most affinity towards.
To no surprise, the paper crumbled towards the center. This meant that Jonathan's main chakra element was indeed lightning. Jonathan figured this but had to absolutely be sure. For what his plans consisted of required accurate information. Knowing his own affinity was just that sort of thing he needed.
Lightning techniques might have looked cool and were powerful enough to cut tailed beasts, but it hadn't been Jonathan's favourite in the past. Not only that, but he didn't have any lightning techniques in his arsenal. Though things like the chidori and lightning armour looked astonishing, Jonathan hadn't had the time to practice them. There were more important techniques he planned to acquire.
Jonathan stored the paper in his pockets and activated the smoked technique before leaving the Jōnin Station.

With that matter settled, Jonathan made haste to the Uchiha Military Police Station. He was interested to know if Izumi Uchiha had reported what happened to her. When Jonathan arrived, lodging himself in the ceiling, he found this scene interesting.
"How is she today?" asked Fugaku.
"One of our agents verified that she seemed a lot more depressed than usual," Inabi Uchiha responded.
"And her behaviour towards my son?" Fugaku questioned.
Jonathan knew that today was likely a time Izumi was being monitored. He decided not to watch her on account of the many things he needed to do in a single day and night.
"It's the same as before, sir. She doesn't seem interested in him or anyone for that matter." Inabi sounded a little concern. Almost like he cared for her well-being.
"Keep trying. Those two could be our clan's future one day," demanded Fugaku.
Jonathan departed from his office after verifying that Izumi had not mentioned anything about their recent fight. Whilst flying high in the clouds, Jonathan considered why she hadn't mentioned anything.
'Perhaps it's because she's already aware of her mother's strange death. If that were the case, she might not be for her clan anymore. Either that or her seven-year old mind was too confused to make sense of her life.' Jonathan pondered this thought but didn't want to believe it entirely. If Izumi Uchiha already didn't side with her clan, that would make sense why she was so cold towards Jonathan when he first approached her with his sharingan active.
Jonathan decided to head home to make revisions towards his next plan. Because the Chūnin exams were to be held, this was the perfect opportunity for Jonathan to learn the one thing that was oddly easy to acquire around this time.
He was going to go pay the Hokage's home an unwelcomed visit.
