Most of the Leaf Village had been empty. And there was a reason for that. The third part of the Chūnin exams was currently taking place.
It had been roughly two months since Jonathan fought Izumi Uchiha. Throughout that time, Jonathan had been focusing more on his spiritual energy. Though he had a list of techniques at his disposal, he could only execute a few of them before eventually running out of chakra and exhausting his stamina. After having learned the components of the mind transfer technique, Jonathan had a basis to help him train his spiritual energy.
Unlike Naruto Uzumaki, Jonathan did not have the multi-shadow clone technique. He may have seen it a multitude of times, but using one hand seal wasn't enough to help Jonathan perform it. But this hadn't bothered Jonathan. For more than a year and half he had been training in seclusion with great results. And there was a reason he had been training the way that he was.
In broad daylight, Jonathan entered into his vapor form and traveled to the Hokage's manor. This was a place that not only Kakashi Hatake managed to sneak into but even Naruto Uzumaki. It's one thing for a talented shinobi like Kakashi to have done it, but for the dimwitted Naruto to have been capable of doing so only meant that it wasn't that difficult.
Jonathan easily entered through a closed window with cracks and ventured down a hallway. He recognized this building from his memories. It was not hard to get around. And considering the Chūnin exams were taking place, almost everyone in the Leaf Village was at the stadium. Jonathan could have came here anytime he pleased even without the smoked technique. But the more patient Jonathan was, the less of a chance of him making a mistake. He wouldn't afford to fail.
It took several minutes but Jonathan until he finally found a room that housed many scrolls inside. Just like Jonathan recalled from his memories, this was the room that also carried a special scroll, the Scroll of Seals. After looking through many of the scrolls, Jonathan found exactly what he was looking for. He knew this was the correct scroll because the method to perform the shadow clone technique was listed. Without making haste, Jonathan closed the scroll and departed with it while in his smoked form.
He left the Hokage's manor and traversed the airs, before finding a secluded forestry area.
Jonathan had waited a long time to acquire this scroll. But he knew he couldn't keep it for long. At most, he speculated he had about two, maybe three, hours before the Chūnin exams concluded. Opening the scroll, Jonathan skipped many techniques that may have been valuable to him. He didn't want to learn the shadow clone or the multi-shadow clone technique. Neither did he want to learn any specific seals like the reaper death seal.
The reason that Jonathan had been training so methodically whilst learning specific techniques from reserved clans, like the Yamanaka clan, was because he needed the prerequisites to learn the flying raijin technique!
The flying raijin was a technique only known by two people in this world. Minato Namikaze and Tobirama Senju. Both of whom were already dead. This technique was beyond advance. It was that convoluted that even the writers had to make it so unique that it varied on how one could learn it and execute it correctly. For instance, the founder of technique, Tobirama Senju, had been overshadowed by the perfecter of it, Minato.
This technique allowed one to traverse from one area anywhere around the world to another at the speed of light, which was the fastest thing in this world. Jonathan found the section of the scroll that continued the flying raijin. Things were written in Japanese Kanji. But when Jonathan read it, he saw American English terms. This was no surprise to Jonathan considering that he heard the people in this world speaking English the day he arrived. On top of that, even the medical books he read in the orphanage and the Leaf were all written in English.
Despite knowing what world he was in, Jonathan had long deduced that his mind, body, soul and spirit had adapted to this world's environment. Whether the world was in English, Japanese or Korean, Jonathan was already created to understand the rules that governed the world in ninjas.
Jonathan read carefully and steadily. Though he knew of the technique and its properties, as well as what was needed to perform it, he had to make sure there was nothing he was missing as he read the fundamentals. Much like Jonathan had learned from earth, this technique required special seals to perform. Each seal, however, differed from user to user. Jonathan extracted all that information.
After an entire hour of reading, Jonathan collected as much data as possible. There was some thing's he wasn't entirely sure on till he confirmed it. For instance, to perform this technique, one needed to understanding how to sense chakra signatures. Jonathan knew this because both Minato and Tobirama had been sensory types.
Another hour passed and Jonathan not only read but memorized every single text written regarding the flying raijin technique. Naruto Uzumaki spent almost a whole day trying to learn the shadow clone technique. But Jonathan was not Naruto Uzumaki. He had perseverance and a mind to excel at anything he deemed worthy of knowing. The flying raijin technique was such a technique that met his high expectations.
The moment Jonathan finished, he didn't practice on the spot. He couldn't even if he wanted to. A technique like that took far too much chakra control and required a lot of training to even get the basics downs. Thanks to him having already prepared for more than a year for it, he at least had an edge.
Jonathan entered into his vapor form and returned to the Hokage's manor, placing the scroll exactly where he found it.
It's not as though Jonathan didn't want to read other forbidden techniques on the scroll. Let alone take the scroll for himself and flee the country. He couldn't. The time it took to read and learn such techniques was too long. And if he took the scroll now, Naruto Uzumaki would never be possible. His very signature technique came from this scroll. And Jonathan was a meticulous individual. The more the story flowed in the direction he needed it to, the more he would always have an advantage in this world.
