Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Hot Springs

An entire month went by and Jonathan still hadn't learned the flying raijin.

The amount of chakra needing to perform it was considerable. Though Jonathan met all the prerequisites and even had high levels of chakra control, he still needed a lot more time to truly perfect it.

Jonathan took a break from his training and went to go visit Elder Baboo in the mountains. Because Jonathan's clothes were burnt, he cast them away. For an entire month, Jonathan had lived with his undergarments. Not a single moment was he fazed by this. Clothes mattered yes, but Jonathan would have spent the entirety of his time naked if he needed to.

The last time Jonathan ventured here, it was with Milo Lulu. Whilst he was traveling, he made sure to take a mental note of his surroundings. That's who Jonathan was, someone who never overlooked the minor details.

When he reached the foot of the mountains, he quickly jumped to flat surface before climbing up to the top. Just like before, the temperature increased. Jonathan with chakra this time around, activated his sharingan. He couldn't see any chakra signatures but still knew he was in the right place. At the thickest spot the fog was in, Jonathan stopped after deactivating his sharingan.

Like an ape, Jonathan let out a screech loud enough to be heard. After a few seconds, the ground started shaking. Water rose up and the steam cleared to reveal Elder Baboo's face.

"Kabuto. Why are you here?" asked Elder Baboo.

"I come with questions needing to answered," smiled Jonathan. "Please…" At those words, Jonathan stared into Elder Baboo's eyes while activating the sharingan genjutsu. "Enlighten me what you know about sage chakra."

Elder Baboo's eyes reflected Jonathan's sharingan. If there's one thing Jonathan knew, it was that the sharingan genjutsu was a very powerful technique. It could even place tailed beasts under its influence. Much like Sasuke Uchiha placed a snake under a genjutsu, Jonathan had done the exact same thing. Elder or not, all animals would be under Jonathan's strict dominion.

"Senjutsu is an art only known by me. I have not passed it down to the current king, Enma yet. But he is more than capable of harnessing it once he becomes a true sage," responded the Elder.

"How can I learn it?" asked Jonathan.

"Only this. One must bathe in these hot springs and allow the waters to mix with your chakra. But be warned, oh child. If your body cannot withstand the pressures of the waters, you will be turned into the likeness of us."

Jonathan knew what this meant. If he could not harness senjutsu, he would be turned into a monkey or ape. Considering his size, it would likely be a monkey.

"I see…" Jonathan considered. "Is there a way you can prevent this?"

"Yes," answered Elder Baboo. "If you desire not to turn into a primate, I can remove you from the waters before the transformation takes place."

"How old are you?" Jonathan asked.

"I am eight-hundred ten years of age," Elder Baboo obediently responded.

'That's not old enough for him to have met any of the Ōtsutsuki brothers or their father,' Jonathan thought. Nevertheless, he persisted to ask anyways. "Do the names Asura, Indra, Kaguya, Hamura, or Hagaromo Ōtsutsuki mean anything to you?"

"They do not. This is my first in hearing of such names," replied the Elder.

"Then... do you know of other worlds that exist besides this one?" This was the first time Jonathan had ever spoken of this matter since he came from to the world of ninjas.

"I do not."

Jonathan squinted his eyes in disappointment.

"This is my last question. How could you tell whether I was lying or not when we first met?"

Elder Baboo gave his answer, "When a person lies, their body and chakra give a certain reaction. My eyes are able to perceive those subtle reactions." This only caused Jonathan to slightly smirk. On top of having advanced chakra control, he always kept himself well composed; insomuch, that not even the eyes of a sage could discern him.

At those words, Jonathan felt complacent. He then stepped forward and felt the waters under his feet. Jonathan kept his sharingan active in hopes it could be of help. When he took the first steps, he ran before diving into the waters.

Deep within the waters, Jonathan tried holding his breath. He couldn't feel anything different aside from the water's piercing heat.

"Let the waters enter your lungs," Jonathan heard Elder Baboo say. Jonathan released his nostrils and breathed in the waters. His lungs filled and he felt as though he was drowning. Calming himself, he opened his eyes and floated there. The waters were dark underneath but he was unafraid.

After only a second, a strange type of energy began flooding Jonathan's body. He tried to balance it but it began to overwhelm him. His hair therefore quickly started growing. He could feel it everywhere. His back was growing hair as well. The moment Jonathan tried to concentrate, he was lifted out of the waters by Elder Baboo.

Jonathan coughed the water out and all the hair began to shed.

Water dripped from Jonathan's hair. He raised his head with an expressionless face saying, "Again…"

Elder Baboo closed his palms where Jonathan was resting on and then slowly submerged it down below.
