After learning nine new techniques within a year, it was time Jonathan left Kyowakoku Jungle.
There were things he had planned. One of which was sealing away the hot springs from Enma. Though no one in the entirety of the world ever was recorded to ever traverse here save Jonathan, he wasn't looking to take any chances. Jonathan needed sealing tags.
On top of this, he had no money. He could only think of what Teuchi had done with all his profits. He also had to check on Izumi's progress. For an entire year, he had not stepped foot in the Leaf Village. He knew what events were supposed to happen, but due to his intervention, those things likely would be altered.
There were two important things Jonathan remembered was to happen in his time spent in Kyowakoku Jungle. The first, Itachi Uchiha was to awaken his sharingan. And the second, Kabuto Yakushi was to leave the orphanage to join Root. All other factors, such as what Izumi was doing, could only be known unless Jonathan bore witness.
Packing the necessary equipment from Kyowakoku Jungle, Jonathan left. There was no secret passages that linked Kyowakoku Jungle to any other villages; as such, the only way to leave was to walk out. Jonathan left not only the jungle but also Enma. This animal had been quite submissive throughout Jonathan's training. He hardly ever came by the habitat and acted normally. Even if Hiruzen were to summon Enma before his battle at the Chūnin exams, he wouldn't be any different.
Jonathan continued on his walk until he reached a grassland. The trees eventually dwindled until Jonathan had to cross a long empty path through thick and tall grasses. By the time he made it outside, Jonathan still could not pin point his location. The grass was shorter yes, but the plain was so open it almost seemed like an endless landscape.
Several hours later and it was already nightfall. Though tired, Jonathan did not choose to rest. He continued pushing forward.
After a whole year of suffering, traveling these plains was easy for Jonathan. But what made it more manageable was his hi-ranked medical techniques. Jonathan could preserve his stamina and continue on an endless walk or run if he needed. The only times Jonathan stopped was to hunt an animal for food. Aside from that, Jonathan spent roughly twenty-five hours walking north each day for three days.
On Jonathan's fourth day of traveling, he finally noticed the grass starting to deteriorate. The more he walked, the drier the air became. His area became so dry that all that was left in front of him was nothing but a desert…
Jonathan immediately speculated that he was likely in the Land of Wind. This was an interesting territory to be in, but it was not something Jonathan desired. His destination had to be the Leaf Village. The only benefit Jonathan gained from traveling so far was that he knew what country he was in now.
This did not deter Jonathan in the slightest. He continued to move forward. As the heat rose, Jonathan was forced to drink some of the water from his gourd. There were only six gourds strapped around Jonathan. Already three were used during his travel. He could, of course perform his flying raijin technique to go back and replenish them at Kyowakoku Jungle, but there was no need for him to waste his chakra until he discovered a safe resting area.
The only reputable village in the Land of Winds was none other than the Sand Village. Around this time, Jonathan knew that Gaara was the main focal point in the Sand Village. He was roughly two years old right about now. And his father, the current fourth Kazekage, was a terrible man from what Jonathan recalled.
Jonathan continued to walk forward, hoping he'd at least find a traveling merchant or town nearby. After several hours of walking, Jonathan had not seen anyone. He was forced to drink another gourd due to the blistering heat. By the time the sun set, Jonathan still didn't see or sense anyone close. He decided to finally rest after four days without real sleep. By the time Jonathan arose, he continued traveling north.
For all Jonathan knew, he probably wasn't in the Land of Winds. He might have just been in a desert area from a different country. This, however, did not stop Jonathan's seemingly endless journey.
Just as Jonathan was about to use up another one of his gourd, he a saw what looked like a sandstorm. Jonathan held his ground in front his face and walked through without hesitation. Using his chakra, he kept his feet planted on the sand. After thirty minutes, he came out the other side. And when he looked, he saw three silhouettes a far off. Jonathan didn't bother trying to sense their chakra signatures. Instead, he waited in a still motion for them to approach.
"It's not every day we see someone roaming around these parts. What's your name, stranger?" curiously asked a man wearing the Sand Village's headband.
