Who were Gōza and Isago?
Jonathan knew Fugi as a filler character, so he didn't hesitate to slay him. But the other two weren't recalled. After Jonathan interrogated Gōza with this genjutsu sharingan, he understood that slaying the two was a correct decision.
Most Sand Villagers didn't pose a single threat to the story if they died. But when Jonathan discovered that Gōza was a council member in his village, he knew of his importance. As for Isago, he and Fugi were on an escort mission like Jonathan deduced. They were only Chūnin, so he speculated they would likely have become Jōnin had Jonathan not slew them so early.
The biggest gain Jonathan got from this battle was Gōza's information. The Sand Village was not that far. More importantly, the three's escort mission had ended. They were on their way back to the Sand Village. This boded well for Jonathan's plan.
Performing the transformation technique, Jonathan disguised himself as Gōza and then traveled to the Sand Village via his smoke form.
The Sand Council was an advisory group that existed in the Sand Village. Their purpose was to help govern the affairs of their village with the Kazekage. And Gōza just so happened to be a member of that council.
Jonathan wasn't so in depth with the series that he followed their political structure, but he understood it. The Sand Village's council was no different than the Leaf Village's council. Almost every village had one with some slight differences. In the Leaf, their council members were known as village elders. In the Sand they were called honoured seniors.
The only two members Jonathan recalled that were in that council were Baki and Yūra. The former was famous because he was the Jōnin leader for Gaara's team. The latter was only known because he was an Akatsuki member's sleeper agent. That member was Sasori. If Jonathan could infiltrate their council as Gōza, he could acquire information on the Leaf Village's location as well as find a very valuable shinobi to Jonathan.
By the time Jonathan made it to Sand Village, it was already night time. Far from the village's passage entrance, Jonathan released his smoked technique and walked between the two cliff faces. He was disguised as Gōza.
"Halt!" a guard ordered. "State your business."
"It is me, Senior Gōza. I have returned but I come with terrible news."
Two guards were stationed at the only passage that led in and out of the Sand Village. They looked at each other in wonder. "What happened, lord Gōza?" asked one of the guards.
Before Jonathan arrived here, he already extracted every piece of information from Gōza's mind. He knew who Gōza was, his occupation and, his level-headed personality.

"The shinobi who accompanied me were ambushed by a powerful foe west from here. I have never seen such a terrible creature before, but I am inclined to believe that it could have been Sasori of the Red Sand."
In hearing that, the two guards gasped, "Sasori of the Red Sand?"
"Yes," Jonathan replied. "If Isago and Fugi did not instruct me to run to safety, I may have never made it."
The two guards had sweat dripping down their faces. The mere mention of Sasori's name had them flustered. "Very well, lord Gōza. We'll let you in to make the report." Some would say that Jonathan's acting was superb. Others would discredit the two guards who were easily fooled. But no one could reprimand Jonathan for his actions. Because he managed to walk right through the doors without needing to lift a finger.
The Sand Village was truly a spectacle sight at night. The lights reflected off their stony buildings, giving it a serene look. Unlike the Leaf Village which consisted of clans, this village mainly composed of families. And as poor as people might think it was, its infrastructure was closely similar to that of the Leaf Village's. The only notable difference was the light colours from the sand. However, neither of this was of interest to Jonathan.
With each step taken, Jonathan surveyed his surroundings. He wasn't entirely sure how long he'd need to stay here; but, he knew he needed to familiarize himself. The Sand Village would play a crucial role due to Gaara, the fourth Kazekage's bloodthirsty son.
Considering how late it was getting, most shops were already closing. All Jonathan had to do was read the signs to know where he was. Because of that, he found the Kazekage's building. As a former fan of Naruto, Jonathan knew that each village had the kanji letters for their respective country. In the Leaf, the kanji word "fire" was written where their Hokage office was. In the Sand, it was "wind".
"Gōza. You're back from your journeys, I see." The man who greeted Jonathan was unfamiliar. But he addressed Jonathan informally; meaning, he did not say "lord Gōza". On top of that, he was wearing a ghutrah. This was the attire most Sand Seniors dressed in.
Jonathan wasted no time in using the sharingan genjutsu.
"Come, friend. Let us discuss matters privately. What say you?" Jonathan asked with a smirk on his face.
"That is a fabulous idea!"
