Sunlight shined through window blinds onto Jonathan's face. Slowly, Jonathan lifted up his eyes and arose from his sleep.
'Another memory,' Jonathan thought to himself. He was never one to be sentimental towards anyone. As such, cracked his neck muscles and stretched his arms. The place Jonathan was staying in was quite small. It was like a studio apartment, consisting of a small kitchen, bed and one small bathroom. Aside from that, Jonathan didn't have much room nor cared.
'Earth style: hidden in mole,' Jonathan slammed his fist in the center of the room and began tunneling smoothly through the stone pavement. This technique was an earth elemental technique. And it was learned by Jonathan two and half years ago…
Jonathan began tunneling through the gravel with his chakra. The hidden mole technique allowed for the user to travel underground without disrupting the properties that make up the earth. Like the name implied, it was like a mole tunneling around. What made this technique quite convenient was that the user could not only pinpoint their exact locations regardless of where they were under the earth, but they can also sense others on the surface. All without leaving a single trace afterwards.
"This is your assignment," Jonathan heard a shinobi say from underground. "All of your groups will take your genin to the partake in the Chūnin exams at the Leaf Village." Three ninjas all saluted the shinobi talking and informed them of their genin. When all was said and done, they were each given village passes.
"Safe journey and be sure not to lose the Stone Village any reputation."
Jonathan was hiding under the Jōnin station in the Stone Village. When he finally heard that three squads were going to depart today, he decided to depart as well.
These last two and half years were not spent in vain. Jonathan was about nine or ten now. He couldn't tell his exact age since he arrived to the ninja world. But that hadn't bothered him. After the day he slew Pakura, he got rid of all the witnesses and destroyed the caravan. Using the ryō Saka and his family carried, he traveled exactly where he knew the Stone Village would be on the map and safely entered.
With the money he had, he transformed into Satetsu and purchased the cheapest apartment he needed. Things like living arrangements were not a problem to Jonathan. For all his survival skills, he was able to spend two months in a jungle with nothing but his undergarments. Jonathan had little information the Stone Village back on earth. His reason for purchasing a home was to make it easier to acquaint himself with the village.
In less than a week, he was able to familiarize himself with all the land marks. Unlike the Leaf Village, which comprised of clans that held advanced ocular powers, this village was like the Sand Village. They comprised mainly of families. There weren't that many sensors either. The economy wasn't as thriving as the Leaf Village, but it also wasn't as poor as the Sand.
Once Jonathan understood his territory, he found the most remote areas to extract every information he could without being discovered by anyone. Jonathan needed two things. The first, was Han's location. For two whole months, Han's location was a mystery. The second thing he needed, was the Stone's secrets. This village was renown for their earth elemental techniques. Jonathan managed to research all reliable information on earth techniques and even use his sharingan to mimic other earth users while they trained.

This process was not difficult at all. The issue was executing what he learned. Due to his knowledge, Jonathan learned the following: Hidden in mole, as a convenient means of traveling undetected; Mud wall, for defensive purposes; rupturing earth, a basic technique most Stone Village ninja knew in order to cause the earth to quake; sphere of graves, which allowed him to pick up the earth due to his great physical chakra; and lastly, the lightened boulder technique to lessens one's physical weight.
All this took Jonathan one and half year to perfect. The techniques might have been simple, but it was learning the earth style elemental nature that took Jonathan quite some time. Jonathan's main affinity was lightning. Because he was learning other elemental techniques, it wasn't as easy if he had trained lightning techniques instead.
There were other earth techniques Jonathan had in mind of learning, but due to his low chakra reserves, he was limited on just those. More so, the derived techniques like hiding in camouflage wouldn't be relevant to learn because of chakra sensing techniques like the sharingan or the byakugan. And considering his low chakra levels, the lightened boulder technique couldn't be used on other targets. Because of that, Jonathan did not learn the opposite technique: adding weight. Though it was still necessary because the lightened weight technique would grant Jonathan the ability to fly like Ōnoki.
Flying was a lot simpler than it looked. Because Jonathan was already use to traveling by air in his smoke form, it only took him less than a day to fully control the lightened weight technique. And though his physical attacks wouldn't be as effective, he had a variety of other techniques that compensated.
There was a reason Jonathan had not learned particle style. This was a technique needing a combination of earth, fire and wind. Jonathan had not yet learned the wind elemental nature. While the Stone Village's security of their secret techniques was unlike others. Just like magnet style and scorch style, Jonathan had to unwillingly give up on explosion style and particle style.
His time, still, was not wasted. Jonathan used his flying raijin technique to traverse from the Stone to the Sand and vice versa. Despite the Sand claiming their honoured senior, Gōza, died during travel, the Stone was reluctant to believe that. This only sparked more of an enmity between the two. Even the early death of Pakura hadn't changed the Sand much. Because she was slain by Jonathan, the treaty in the Waterfall Village was accepted without bloodshed. And Jonathan would have gladly taken Gōza's ryō for known reasons, but all of it was confiscated when the Sand declared he had ultimately died.
Jonathan hardly ventured to the Sand after that. The amount of chakra consumed to perform two flying raijin techniques in one day was abhorrently taxing. Jonathan needed that chakra to learn earth techniques. His decision to stay in the Stone eventually bore its fruits when Han's arrived. The village sent him on a long mission with Roshi, the jinchūriki for the four-tails; but, once he returned Jonathan trailed him periodically. Though his problem was singling out Han. He was normally always with someone at all times. To perform the dharma sealing technique, Jonathan needed to make sure he was alone with Han for a time.
It wasn't until Jonathan heard of the upcoming Chūnin exams being held in the Leaf Village; to which, the Stone Village genin would be participating in. It was the perfect time for Jonathan to see what progress the Leaf ninja had made. For more than three years, he had not heard from them at all.
Jonathan packed his weapons pouch, his gourds and his map. Leaving only his biwa, he stood in the center of his room ready to perform the hidden mole technique.
