Chapter 96: Chapter 96: The Rookie Nine

Teuchi was a drunken man that lived off someone else's profits. When Jonathan saw his behaviour, even he understood that Teuchi had nothing left to live for. His daughter died and he closed his business for saké and women.

After his death, Jonathan cut the body parts, burned them and separated him in different trash bag. Afterwards, he hid each trash bag in different locations. No one would miss Teuchi. He had a lot of enemies and false promises made to other people. That was the reason he thought he owed Jonathan (posing as Jirobou) money.

Jonathan left Teuchi and traveled in his smoke form as night fell. His destination now was the orphanage. Not many people knew of this orphanage. Even in the Leaf Village, it was rarely talked about. The only reason it truly existed was for Root anyways. When Jonathan made it, he scouted the area inside and out.

Not much had changed here. A lot of the orphans Jonathan grew up with were still there. More importantly, Kabuto Yakushi and Nonō Yakushi were no longer present. Jonathan's arrival had not affected Danzō Shimura's decision to accept Kabuto.

'If things continue this way, Nonō Yakushi should die by Kabuto's hands next year,' Jonathan believed.

But someone like Nonō Yakushi wasn't what interested Jonathan in the slightest. It was the birth of the Sound Village. The day she dies was also the day that Orochimaru approached Kabuto with the offer of forming his village. When that happened, Jonathan would be able to locate a well-hidden target. His plan was devised back at Kyowakoku Jungle, and he hadn't once forgotten it.

Feeling exhausted, Jonathan found a safe area within the outskirts and rested there. He was more than accustomed to sleeping in the woods. And though he hadn't eaten in a while, this hadn't troubled Jonathan in the slightest. Calmly resting with his senses still on alert, Jonathan fell asleep.

The very next morning, Jonathan arose and made haste to the Leaf's academy. This was a pivotal moment for the main cast. When he arrived, still in his smoke form, he lodged himself in the ceiling cracks and waited. Only a few minutes later and the classroom began filling up with students.

"Glad everyone's here," the teacher instructed. The person speaking wasn't Iruka Umina. It was Daikoku, a Chūnin who would be replaced by Iruka Umino. In the five and half years Jonathan's been living in the ninja world, this was the first time he was seeing the main characters.

Naruto Uzumaki, turning five this year. Sasuke Uchiha, his birthday was coming up shortly. Sakura Haruno, who was already infatuated by Sasuke. The rest of the six are known as the Rookie Nine, soon to be genin who were prominent ninjas despite their age.

'I could just as easily kill this entire classroom,' Jonathan considered.

But he knew doing something as rash as that would more than alter the story. It would forever change this world. Why? Because the creators of this world thought it would be a good idea to make Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha descendants of the powerful Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki. This meant they bore a spiritual relationship to his two sons, Indra Ōtsutsuki and Asura Ōtsutsuki. If Jonathan were to kill them now, he'd be at a disadvantage on his goals.

More so, he wouldn't benefit from it. Once Naruto died, the nine-tails would be unleashed on the village. Their deaths would serve Jonathan no purpose right now. Jonathan instead observed their behaviour. It was just like what he imagined when growing up. The way they spoke, their childish patterns. It was all the same. Not a single one of them were overly exaggerated or slightly different than how the creators originally made them.

This was good for Jonathan. The more information he knew on someone, the easier it was for them to fall into his hands.

There was no need for Jonathan to stay at the academy any longer. He knew what they were learning; and, no matter how skilled they were, they wouldn't be able to graduate until they were at least eleven years old.

Whilst traveling, Jonathan considered what the Rookie Nine did during this time. From what he recalled, Naruto Uzumaki would become a village clown for his foolish pranks. This caused a lot of villagers to despise him on top of having the nine-tails. Jonathan didn't feel sorry for him at all. He was a lonely kid whose parents made an idiotic mistake before death. As for Ichiraku being out of business, he would undoubtedly search for another similar ramen shop.

Then there was Sasuke Uchiha. The only thing Jonathan could think about him was the event that would occur two years from now, the Uchiha massacre. Because Jonathan had Izumi Uchiha as an insurance, he didn't care much for Sasuke. He was nothing like his brother in terms of power

Lastly, was Sakura Haruno. The only reason she was even remotely considered was because of a special technique she would learn from Tsunade, a kunoichi legend on par with Jiraiya and Orochimaru. Most of Jonathan's medical skill set derived from what he knew from Tsunade and Kabuto. Sakura could be of value to Jonathan if his current plans fall behind.

When Jonathan arrived to his destination, he closely observed Izumi Uchiha eating.
