"Suggestion… magic?" I uttered dumbfounded as I heard what the Demon King in front of me had said.
"Yes, simple suggestion magic… That's all you need for your desires to be granted fufu…." Lilith said with a slight grin. "Though I say magic, it's more like an ability."
"No, if that's what you say I need, then I don't need it."
"Why?" Lilith asked as she raised a brow.
"If I need to brainwash to have people to love me, then… It's not love, I'm just forcing them to act as if they love me."
That's right, it'd be like I'm taking the controller from them and controlling their character; I don't want such a thing. I thought.
"Ah…ha-ha, no you've got it all wrong."
"What did I get wrong?"
"With suggestion magic you're not hypnotizing people to make them to do what you want, you're simply just implanting a suggestion into their heads, that's all. There's no guarantee that they will do what you're suggesting," Lilith explained.
"If I were to explain it to you in simpler terms, it's a step down from hypnotizing."
"Meaning, whatever suggestion I supposedly implant into their heads will pop up a random thought?"
"Yes, that's all there is to it."
"Are you sure, there's no price that I have to pay?"
Don't trust a demon; that's what they all say.
"There will be, but like I said I'm giving you a free trial period of sorts, once that period has ended, I will appear before you once more and ask."
But…
"I see…"
I don't mind.
"But, just to make sure, are you sure that you'll accept my offer…? This free trial period that is."
Whether I die lonely, mutilated, burned, or whatever kind of destruction fate has in store, I'll accept it all because…
"Of course, I've already accepted earlier so there's no way I'm going to back down now… I want to be happy after all."
I deserve it anyways, so it doesn't matter.

And so, the fifth week has arrived.
It's been two days since I encountered that Demon King, "But, how do I exactly get close to her…." I uttered as I looked at Alisa from the other side of the soccer field; she and her friends were hanging out on the other side while I sat alone, watching them.
After I ultimately accepted Lilith's offer to become happy without hurting anyone, she promptly gave me the suggestion magic and instructions on how to use it.
I recalled back to after I accepted her offer.
"Now, suggestion magic isn't something I can easily give to you nor something I could teach you either," Lilith said.
"Then what should I do?" I asked.
"It's simple, give me your eyes," Lilith answered as she pointed her index finger at her own eye.
"My eyes?" I added.
"Yes, so stay still," Lilith voiced as she inched closer towards me.
"Oh wai-"Before I could even finish my sentence, an immense pain suddenly throbbed in my eye sockets, I lost vision, and everything blacked out, but before I could even have the chance to scream in pain, my eyesight had returned the next moment, and the throbbing pain within my eye sockets were gone.
I lost my balance for a few seconds and eventually stood my ground. "What did you just do?!" I asked while I also raised my voice a little.
"In a moment, I took your eyes and enchanted them," Lilith spoke. "Congratulations, you now have the chaos eyes of suggestion." Lilith sarcastically clapped.
"Chaos eyes of suggestion…." I repeated.
"To use your eyes, you need to look at your target's eyes directly and mentally think about what suggestion you're going to implant into their head, that's all," Lilith explained.
"Ah, I see…." I replied.
"Well then, I probably shouldn't keep you here too long; after all, this place is only for those without corporal bodies," Lilith said as she glanced at the endless space beyond the platform we stand on.
"This place…? Come to think of it, what is this place anyways?"
"You'll learn that in due time. For now, it's time for you to leave, let us meet again in a month, farewell Iven, I wish you the best of happiness fufufu…."
And my memory ends there; the next thing I knew was that I woke up in my own bed. I questioned it for a few minutes but stopped since it was no use pandering about every little detail.
"But still, how am I going to get in direct eye contact with her…." I muttered under my breath as I tried to glance at Alisa's location again, but I couldn't see her anymore.
Thinking that she had gone somewhere else while I was lost in thought, I scanned the entire soccer field, but she wasn't there.
Should I do this tomorrow…? I thought as I sighed.
"Are you okay Iven?"
Suddenly a girl's voice called out to me from behind. I turned around and looked; it was Alisa standing behind me while I sat.
"Uh yeah, I'm okay…." I replied as I stood up.
This is my chance. With quick haste, I faced her and looked at Alisa directly.
Hang out with Iven for the rest of the lunch break…! I internally shouted as I felt a single jolt of lightning run down my spine the next moment.
Please work…!
"You know, if you're alone, I'll hang out with you," Alisa said with a bubbly smile as she had a blank look on her face the moment before.
"Sure, let's hang… I guess," I replied as I internally sighed with relief.
It worked… wait, I should've tested it before I tried the actual thing, but… it still worked, so I guess it doesn't matter now.
"Do you want to move and sit down somewhere else?" Alisa asked.
"Yeah, I'd like that actually."
"Great, then let's go."
Afterward, we moved locations as agreed upon.
We both ended up sitting at the end of a corridor within the lower ground floor of the school building where there's no one else to be found during this time of day, specifically lunch break.
"So, what do you want to talk about…?" Alisa asked.
"Uh… actually, how old are you? I get the sense that you're older than me, but I don't know," I replied as I quickly came up with a conversation topic on the fly, which I'm not usually good at.
"Me? Older? That's nice… but I'm younger than you by a year," Alisa responded.
"Oh… I didn't know that," I voiced.
"Did I actually come off as older to you?"
"Yeah, you did, when you came to my house you looked older than me at least."
"Thanks… anyways, what are your hobbies, what do you like doing at home?"
"Uhm… I mostly read light novels, but there are also sometimes where I watch anime."
"Oh, you watch anime, that's nice. I watch them as well from time to time but not often."
"I see… well, how about you?"
"Me? Uh… I don't have any."
"You don't?"
"Not that I could think off, I mostly spend my time at home on my phone browsing through VideoTube or something."

"Oh."
"Yeah, that's just how I go… I'm a boring person, huh…."
"No, you aren't boring at all."
"Is that so? Well, thanks."
Afterward, the conversation went smoothly, primarily thanks to Alisa's social skills, preventing the discussion from getting dry and stale.
That's something I could never pull off when talking with someone.
In most chit-chatting conversations I engaged with, I almost always said, 'Yeah.' 'Maybe.' 'I don't know.' And some other basic responses.
I used to be very sociable, but now that I've gone quiet… I can't remember how the past made all those friends. I wonder… if the past me was a bit smarter and likable; maybe I wouldn't exist right now.
I wonder if my existence was just a mistake…
I don't know.
But talking to Alisa like this makes me feel worth at least something.
Something more than the trash I consider myself to be.
***
We talked and talked all throughout nearly the entirety of the lunch break, and it was fun.
It was the most fun I've had in the real world in a long while.
"Ahh… I'm tired," I uttered as I crashed onto my bed and rolled with my face facing the white ceiling. "I'm tired… but ehehe, I talked to Alisa."
I couldn't even begin to express the happiness exploding within my heart.
I talked to her… I spoke to Alisa. I had an actual conversation with her.
To other people, this might be nothing to be happy about but for me… I'm so glad I at least got closer to her than I was before.
But naturally, I still have some doubts in my heart.
I doubt that Alisa chose to hang out with me of her own free will; it feels like I brainwashed her to hang out with me, but if I were to believe Lilith's words…
Then, the thought of 'hanging out with me for the rest of lunch break' only came up in her mind. She considered it and decided to do so.
If that's true, then I'm happy.
"I'm going to sleep…." I uttered as I closed my eyes and started my afternoon nap.
*Alisa's POV*
"Iven was much more fun to hang out with than I thought he would be…." Alisa said as she laid down on her bed, staring at the white ceiling as she looked back on today's events.
"This is the second time I invited him to hang out… after the first time, he seemed to be always alone whenever I saw him at school. I wanted to try inviting him to hang out again but… I feel like he wouldn't like that," Alisa muttered as she rolled around her bed.
"But I wonder… why I did I invite him today of all days when I hesitated before…." Alisa stopped rolling on the bed, sat up straight, and grabbed her phone on the side of the bed.
"Well, it doesn't matter anyways, the important thing is that we talked," Alisa voiced as she started tapping on her phone, bringing up a certain somebody's direct messages.
*Iven’s POV*
“Kihihihi.”
“Mngh…”
“Kihihihi.”
"Ah, what…" With my eyes still closed, I moved my right hand and grabbed the phone laughing with notifications
.
I rolled over slightly to face the ceiling. I slowly opened my eyes as I pressed the power button on the phone to check my notifications tab.
"Hm?" I uttered as I finally processed what was going on.
<Hey, u awake?>
<I wanna chat.>
<Hello?>
Alisa had messaged me.
Before this, we only exchanged a brief back-n-forth conversation because we were in the same elective class and exchanged contacts because it was needed, but now she's messaging me without any particular reason, I assume.
"Ah uhm…" I opened the messaging app and started typing a reply.
<?>
<Oh good, you're awake.>
<What is it?>
<Nothing, I just wanted to talk.>
<About…?>
<Anything.>
<Okay…>
"Anything… she says, but ugh… I don't know what to talk about." I muttered.
<What are you doing right now?>
<I'm chatting with you.>
<Before that?>
<Sleeping.>
<This early?!>
<Well… yeah.>
<y?>
<I'm tired.>
<I know, but y?>
"Huh?" I uttered, slightly surprised by her reply.
<Because I got sleepy after dinner? And I'm tired?>
<Oh.>
<Okay.>
<I didn't disturb you, did I??>
<No, it's okay. Sleeping at 7pm is a habit I've gotten into recently, and I wanted to break out of it.>
<I see; that's great then.>
<Okay…>
The direct messages got quiet for a minute or two before eventually.
<Sorry, I gtg.>
<It's okay, no worries.>
<Great, then see you tomorrow.>
<See ya.>
And that was the end of our first actual friendly conversation over text.
