I woke up and opened my eyes to a familiar white ceiling.
I sat straight, grabbed the phone beside my desk near my bed and checked the time.
“8:07 am… and today’s a Saturday, just perfect.” I put down the phone and got off the bed.
It’s been nearly a week since I gained these eyes, but I only used them once.
Unlike the weeks before, I feel much more energetic this week; I’m not sure why, but it would probably be because of Alisa.
She makes me feel better about myself; I don’t feel as worthless with her.
Heading into the bathroom, I did my business on the toilet and washed my hands and face. As I wiped the water off my face, I saw someone reflected in the mirror.
Messy black hair, black eyes, an average-looking face with some blemish… regular for a teenage boy, this person was me.
“How ugly…” I muttered under my breath as I finished wiping off my face and went downstairs to grab my usual breakfast.
I saw my parents having breakfast together on the kitchen counter as I entered the kitchen. “Iven…” my dad called out my name as soon as he noticed me, but I quickly responded with an “Uuu” and hurriedly grabbed what I needed.
A pack of English muffins, a water bottle, and a Down&Stop chocolate milk box.
After grabbing my breakfast, I headed back up to my room.
Once in my room, I set my breakfast on the empty desk space, opened the heater, and started up my desktop.
This was usually how I start my day, waking up in the morning, going to the bathroom, getting the same set of food and bringing it up to my room, eating it there as I enjoy new seasonal anime episodes whilst the room temperature goes up due to the heater as I can’t eat breakfast properly in the freezing cold temperature of the outside and downstairs.
It was currently winter, even though it was still August in this country.
Normally after I’d finished my breakfast, I would start checking on random things on my desktop, looking for ways to pass the time. I almost always have nothing to do, but today is different.
After breakfast, I looked at my reflection in the mirror once more through the mirror in my own room, the giant closet door mirror.
Ignoring the reflection of my room, I stare into my reflection’s eyes as if I were having a staring contest with myself.
“My eyes… Chaos eyes of suggestion, were they called? It’s something more than that. Its effects are different from what that devil… demon king told me.”
“With suggestion magic you’re not hypnotizing people to make them to do what you want, you’re simply just implanting a suggestion into their heads, that’s all. There’s no guarantee that they will do what you’re suggesting.” I recalled Lilith’s words.
“But that’s not all it did, there was definitely something else.”
“Like, there’s this throbbing feeling in my heart that I want to see you, I want to be with you or the something, basically when I think about you, I feel all nervous and,.” Alisa’s words rang in my head as the throbbing sensation of guilt emerged ever so slightly from the depths of my heart.
I know I should’ve done this before I used the eyes on Alisa, but today I’m going to test them…
After lunch and contemplating what I should do about ‘testing’ the eyes, I figured I’d get ideas along the way, so I headed to the nearest shopping centre, about five minutes away from my house via walking.
When I first explored the area where my house was, I thought that everything was surprisingly close and convenient.
The convenience store is just across the street along with the gas station, and the shopping centres and shops are five to minutes away; I have everything I could ever need within several meters of my house.
Before I headed out, I grabbed my usual ‘going-out’ kit: a plain grey hoodie, a sling bag containing my phone, wallet, and a power bank if I needed to charge my phone. I didn’t bring anything else extra since I didn’t exactly know how I was going to go about testing these eyes.
Though I know that my goal is to figure out their exact effects, that’s it from my end; everything else I’m going to have to come up on the spot.

As I was aimlessly walking on the concrete sidewalk as if I was marching forward to my destination, “Ah.”
Suddenly, a girl tripped. I widened my eyes while it all happened instantly. “Gugh,” I instinctively uttered as the girl landed on my chest. I fell along with her.
“Ah, sorry…!” The moment the girl realized where she had landed, she immediately stood up and got off my chest.
“Ouch, ouch…” I focused my eyes as I lifted my body from the ground.
“I’m sorry, I was running, and I tripped….” The girl apologized.
“Ah no, it’s my fault… I wasn’t looking where I was going,” I turned my gaze to the girl in front of me.
The girl had straight, long flowing blond hair, blue eyes, and smooth porcelain skin and wore a plain black hoodie with grey jogging pants.
She seemed to be around my age based on looks.
“No, it’s my fault, that’s why I’m sorry.”
Wait…
“No, it’s not, I wasn’t looking where I was going after all.”
Doesn’t this girl…
“Even if you were looking, it’s not like going to change how I tripped on a rock you know, actually I should be thankful you weren’t looking otherwise I would’ve landed face-first to the ground.”
Look familiar?
“Ah, I see… well if you insist, I guess,” I voiced.

“There you go, aren’t you a stubborn one.”
I have a bad feeling about this, so I’ll end this here before anything else happens.
“Well, anyways, I have somewhere to be, so if you’ll just excuse me….” With the fakest smile I could muster, I ended the conversation and slipped past her when.
“Hey, aren’t you, my classmate?”
“Urk.”
“Ah… I remember now, you’re the transfer student, right?”
I knew it… I thought as I slowly turned around and faced her again.
“What might you be talking about?”
There’s only one option here.
“You’re the new transfer student at our class, Iven, am I right?”
I need to play dumb.
“Uhh… no, I haven’t heard of that name.”
When I finished the sentence, her face tensed up as she pulled out her phone from her pocket and started to tap away.
“This is you,” She showed me her phone screen, and on the screen was a picture of me in the classroom.
Uh, I’ve been found out.
“So it is you….” She uttered. “Why did you have to play dumb?”
“Uh… uhm…I have a perfectly good reason for it, ha-ha….”
After explaining that I couldn’t be bothered with dealing with her as I was heading to the shopping centre but… that may have been a poor choice of words.
“Oh, you’re heading to the shops too. Why don’t we go together? We’re classmates, aren’t we? I never had a chance to talk to you properly, so this is great!” She excitedly said.
“Uh…”
“Is that a problem for you…?”
“No, not at all…ha-ha.”
“Great! Then let’s go!” She voiced as she started walking towards me.
“Woah-“I uttered as she excitedly grabbed my hand and started to drag me over to the shopping centre, which was over three minutes away.

After dragging me around for over ten minutes, we arrived at the shopping centre and then I suggested that we go get something to eat first, to which we went to the food court.
I bought a six-inch sandwich from the trainway, and once she saw what I bought, she copied me and bought the same sandwich; of course, I didn’t say anything about it since I really didn’t care.
We sat down at an open table.
“By the way…. What’s your name?” I finally asked the question that’s been on my mind since I encountered her.
“Hm? My name? I thought you already knew it,” She raised a brow as though she was surprised.
“No, I don’t know it all,” I replied.
“Oh, is that so? My name’s Veronica, nice to meet you Iven.”
“Nice to meet you too.”
After that exchange, I opened my sandwich wrapper and started digging in. Veronica followed suit as she also dug into her sandwich.
“So, how’s school?”
“Hm?” I first swallowed and then replied. “What do you mean?”
“I mean… how’s school been for you so far? Fun, fine, good, you know?”
“Uh… fine, I guess.”
Wait... This is my chance. I thought as I remembered why I was out here in the first place before I got distracted by Veronica.
I swallowed what I’d bitten, drank my soft drink, and prepared myself.
Here goes nothing.
I looked directly into her eyes as I activated the Chaos Eyes of Suggestion.
