After my uncle had brought the food back to the table, we started to eat. Naturally, with food around, Alisa couldn’t talk as much, but she and I still did talk about something while my uncle chimed in every once in a while during our conversation.
It was a bit tiring but talking to Alisa is fun, so I didn’t mind talking.
Once we finished the food, we all cleaned up our table and threw the trash in the rubbish bin. “Iven, do you want to go home with us?” Uncle asked as I checked the time on my phone.
It was currently 3:53 PM.
Meaning I had already spent nearly two hours here. “You should accept Iven, it’s about to get dark anyways in a couple of hours,” Alisa added.
“Uh... Sure I’ll go with you, I’ve finished what I needed to do here earlier so I was also just about to go home,” I replied.
“Great, then let’s go,” Alisa uttered as Uncle started to walk away from the food court while we followed suit.
After a few minutes of walking alongside Alisa, we kept talking about random things like what kind of food is my favourite or how Alisa dreads doing chores but still does it anyway.
Very random topics that Alisa keeps bringing up.
The three of us arrived at the parking lot, where we approached a single car.
“This is it, yeah?” I asked as I glanced at the car.
“Yeah, it’s that small one,” Alisa confirmed.
What I was pointing to and what Alisa confirmed was the car we were going to be riding in was a bluish-green car with only two doors.
It looked older than the cars beside it and is the same kind of car my dad uses.
A moment later, Uncle unlocks the car for us with his keys and opens the door.
Alisa stepped in the car first, going to the backseat while I followed suit and sat beside her.
It’s cramped. I thought as I felt our sides touch each other.
Once we were both settled in the car, Uncle took the driver’s seat and moved it back towards its original position as it was pulled towards the front, and the back of the seat was leaning down, allowing us to go in and sit at the back.
Uncle gets in the driver’s seat, starts the car, and then we head for the parking lot exit.
The drive was short.
My and her houses were only a few minutes away via walking from the shopping centre.
During the drive, Uncle told me he would drop us off at my house.
They were planning to come over anyways later tonight because they were going to have another drinking party.
It was a Saturday when everyone usually came together and had a drinking party, so it made sense.
Once we arrived at the pathway leading into my and several other houses, Alisa and I got off the car along with Uncle, who immediately went to the car trunk and pulled out the bottled beer he had bought for their drinking party and handed it to Alisa.
After that, he got inside the car again and drove away.
“Let’s go,” Alisa said as she carried the plastic bag full of beer in her hands as she walked inside.
“Uh yeah...” I quietly said as I followed suit.
Going in, we saw that my dad and the other neighbours were already preparing for the drinking party as they were trying to start up the bonfire in the small garden to the right, along with their outdoor table and chairs ready to go.
However, on the left-hand side where we were walking, there were two kids, a girl three years younger than me and a small boy seven years old; they were playing basketball together with the single hoop installed in this front area of our houses.
I made eye contact with the girl, but she promptly ignored me as I walked past while Alisa started a conversation with her.
The first one to talk to me was my dad. “You were together with Alisa?”
“Yeah... we coincidentally met each other at the food court.”
“Hm... you were with your Tito Nelson?” He asked.
“Yes,” I responded.
“Hm.... okay. “And that ended our short and brief conversation as I quietly slid past my dad and went into my house.
“Where’d you go?” Asked my mom as I went into the kitchen, grabbed my water bottle from the fridge and started drinking it to quench my first.
As usual, she was sitting on the kitchen stool and was scrolling on her phone before she noticed and talked to me.
As soon as I finished drinking, I put down the bottle and responded to her question,
“At the shops.”
“What did you do there?” She asked.
I simply said that I kept the fact about my supernatural eyes and the encounter with a female classmate who dragged me there. “I was hungry, so I ate some sandwiches from swabway.”
I did not lie; I simply left everything else out.
“How much is left in your bank account?”

“I think I still have a hundred left...” I answered. “I’m going up,” I voiced as I filled the water bottle and went upstairs to my room.
***
Pure silence fills the room as I quietly stare at the ceiling from my bed.
That silence, however, is disturbed as the occasional loud cheers of laughter reach my room from the outside.
I pay no attention as only a single thought fills up my mind.
I’m tired.
My Saturday morning up until noon had proceeded as usual until I decided to go out and test these eyes.
Encountering a classmate and grabbing a bite together as I tried to use my eyes on her, but nothing happened. After she left, I coincidentally met Alisa with her dad, and it worked when I used the eyes on my uncle.
If I didn’t use my eyes, they would’ve just left me alone and gone on their way, but since I did, they invited me to eat together, and I accepted the self-invitation.
Even without the eyes, I could’ve joined them, but that’s a bit impossible for me.
I have to express my intentions to join them on my own without them needing to ask and invite me. I would’ve had to ask them to let me join them.
To most people, this would’ve been nothing, and if they were in my shoes, they would’ve directly asked, and I’m sure Alisa and uncle would agree right away, but I can’t help but imagine what would happen if they turned me down.
It’d be like rubbing salt on a wound that cannot be closed.
I have a weak heart.
I pretend to have tough skin and not let things get to me, but the reality is that I’m the opposite of that.
Even the slightest bit of rejection will send my heart down as I overthink things in my head.
This is the price I have to pay for my actions.
I cannot just move forward as other people can; the past weighs down on my body and soul as it’s tightly chained to me because I can’t apologize.
Apologizing to the people I hurt.
I can’t even do something as simple as that.
Why? You ask?

“Amazing… his self-deprecating train of thoughts are almost a 1:1 exact copy of his….” Lily muttered in amazement as she watched Iven drift off to sleep from the unknown world.
“Right?” Lilith chimed in as she suddenly appeared behind Lily. “That boy is that world’s strongest piece, there’s no doubt about it.”
‘We’ll see… it seems all the pieces have already started moving on the board, and… there’s one more thing.”
“Hm? What that might be?” Lilith raises a brow in confusion.
“An irregularity seems to have hidden itself in one of the pieces.”
At that moment, Lilith’s eyes widened in shock as Lily calmly voiced it to her.
“Irregularity? An outsider you mean?”
“Yes… an irregular existence whom I which cannot locate and see, to be honest the scent of its smell is so faint that I could be mistaken.”
“But there’s no way you of all people could ever make a mistake.”
“Exactly.”
“Meaning… the game could be interrupted or even destroyed.”
“We must make sure that won’t ever happen as we stake a lot more than just entertainment in this game.”
“You’re right….”
“Someday, we’ll eventually achieve it as long as the path is clear.”
“To do that, we must get rid of the obstacles in the way.”
“That is the truth.”
“All shall see the despair of Qliphoth,” Lily and Lilith voiced in unison.
