Episode 3 – Co-op

 

An event at the moment I’m gonna die!?! I hate this game!

The Slime Queen prepared to launch another attack on Zeke.

Crack!

Suddenly, a small pot was thrown in and crashed at the side of the Slime Queen. Her body was covered in black liquid and the little slime jumped off her shoulder then disappeared in the river.

“Get him out!”

A voice of a woman resonated from behind the monster and an arrow with fire skewered the bottom part of the Slime Queen.

Her body was ignited. She growled and turned around to find who dared interfered her

“There! Now follow me!”

[You got injected with a potion. HP recovered by 25.]

A man came behind Zeke. He injected his leg with red liquid then supported him up and led him an escape route.

A part of the Slime Queen stretched out into the river and drew some of water to spray over the part that got ignited.

While she’s dousing her body, she also searched for the archer at the same time but there was nothing except trees and bushes.

[Furtive Disguise]!

The Slime Queen advanced toward the direction she assumed the arrow was shot from.

“I hope they made it. I’m gonna stay still until this thing’s gone!”

The archer woman was using her skill to hide from the Slime Queen in bushes.

When the Slime Queen came closer and nearby, her heart beat faster and faster until the Queen past her. The archer was finally relieved.

Splash…..Splat

Suddenly, Slimy liquid mucus spurted from the Queen’s hand into the air then they rained down and covered a large area around her.

[The Slime Queen used Mucus Shower! Any hiding skills will be revealed!]

“Found you!”

The furtive archer got covered by them and the Slime Queen immediately located her.

“What the f**k. This monster is not dumb at all! It can even say?!!”

After being discovered the archer broke her hiding and immediately ran away.

Boom!

The Slime Queen stretched her hand out and altered into a hammer to smash it down in front of the running archer.

Death is within her grasp.

“This is how I end? F**k this!”

The archer collapsed from the impact. She covered herself and shut her eyes tightly while her death was knocking.

“Don’t you dare!”

A man voice resonated. The Slime Queen did not let her chance get away but she still turned around to see who dared order her.

It was Zeke. He’s holding a little slime while pointing a sword at it. Behind him was a man who rescued him.

The moment the Slime Queen’s eyes met with Zeke’s and the little slime’s she was enraged even more. Although she did not dare to move her mucus, her eyes were fixed at Zeke.

“Let her go and I’ll release this guy!”

Zeke had no idea that if he killed this little one right now, what the Queen there is going to do. Maybe the worst outcome might fall upon them, so he will play it safe for both parties.

The captive little slime in his hand was teary. The big round eyes of the slime had made them even more humanoid.

The Slime Queen heard. She slowly loosened her grasp from the archer but still keep it in range just in case Zeke goes tricky on her.

Meanwhile, Zeke slowly put down the little slime in his hand but the sword was still pointed toward it.

The Queen and the man’s eyes fixed at each other. The two understood each other means.

The Slime Queen was the first to make the move. She released her grasp and quickly rushed to save the little slime.

Zeke shuddered at her quick move. He immediately dropped the little slime and quickly escaped away from the scene.

When the archer saw that she was freed from her death she also immediately ran away.

The freed little Slime quickly rushed to the Queen fearfully. When the two finally reached, the Queen held and hugged the little one tightly and adoringly.

The three fled from the Slime Queen into a forest nearby.

…..

 

“What the f**k was that?”

When the three successfully escaped from the danger and rested at ruins, Zeke spoke up with shortly breath.

“Your idiocy almost got you killed…and her too!”

The man answered with annoyed face.

“Stop it, Carl! At least he came back to save me!”

The female archer quickly disapproved Carl’s words.

Zeke did not say anything further. He tried to get his grip and analyzed what Carl just said.

“Thank you two for saving me. Also I’m sorry for trouble you….errr?”

“Adria. My name is Adria.”

“I’m sorry for almost killing you, miss Adria.”

Zeke was not a kind of rude person. He knew what should be done and what shouldn’t. But it seemed Carl was not happy with the courtesy.

“Mr.Carl, could you explain to me. What did I do to anger the Slime Queen?”

Zeke didn’t plan to make an enemy soon. Not with his savior and the one who could be useful to him.

“You killed her offspring. Those little slimes are either her children or her beloved one.”

Carl let out a long sigh then went quiet for a while. Eventually, he gave up being aggressive and answered Zeke’s question.

“Ah…shi-…. is she going to hunt me down now?”

“No. As long as you don’t go near her or her offspring, you’d be fine.”

Zeke relieved as he leaned on one of the ruins walls.

“By the way, you haven’t told us your name.”

The resting archer lady asked.

“Oh? Sorry. My name is Zeke. You guys are after the grand prize too?”

“I’m doing this for my daughter.”

“I just want to clear my debts. What about you Zeke?”

Carl was the first to speak up, followed by Adria.

“I just want to make a living. I’ve tried many jobs but they all used me like a pawn.”

“Ah. Sorry for asking that.”

“Not really. It’s not that I have a grudge on them.”

Adria was a bit embarrassed, so she decided not to say anything further.

“Let’s move on. We set a camp not far from here. We’ll discuss more there.”

Carl stood up and led the way.

The ruins were surrounded by thick trees and bushes. After they continued travelling through the forest for about half an hour, Zeke finally got out of the thick forest to the thinner area that almost looked like a plain.

There were some tall trees and bushes to hide from wild animals and monsters.

Zeke saw some kind of military camp surrounded by few trees. The camp blended in with the surrounding perfectly.

“I used to serve in the military so I got some nice tent for this job.”

Carl went inside the tent first followed by beckoning Adria.

When Zeke got inside, the place was quite large. He expected that it could even fit more than 3 people.

“Make yourself at home. It’s almost dark now let’s talk after dinner then.”

Carl sat on a camping chair and noticed that the sun was setting.

“By the way, how did you guys catch that little slime though? I thought I saw it ran away in the river.”

Adria put down her bow and quiver then sat on her camping bed.

“After we escaped this guy said that you might be in trouble, so along the way back he found that little thing was hiding and watching you from behind a tree. Where are you going?”

While Carl explaining Zeke was about to leave the tent.

“I’ll go find some fruits and there might be a small animal for our dinner if we’re lucky.”

“We have some canned foods to spare. You don’t need to go. Besides, more powerful monsters might come out during night time.”

Carl walked to a corner and shown cans to Zeke. He knew that Zeke was polite and did not want to waste his foods, so he shown him that there were foods to spare.

Zeke thought the same way as well. He decided that he’d go no matter what, but after hearing about monsters. He had second thoughts. In the end he gave up and went back inside then zip up the entrance.

……

“Did you guys get a notification about Special event?”

After finished with the dinner. Zeke asked curiously.

He still thought about the boss weapon reward because the duration lasted for 24 hours. Even if he slept here and came back to fight the Queen again tomorrow, he still had the chance.

“Defeating the Queen? Yeah.”

“What? Don’t tell me you’re planning to complete that?”

Carl saw the curious in Zeke’s face, so he guessed.

“I saw how effective Miss Adria used fire on her, so I think we might have some chances. Besides, we all will get a good starter weapon than this.”

Zeke tried to convince while turning around to Adria for her opinions.

“I used fire because I thought it is the common weakness of the slime. I can’t confirm if it’s gonna be reliable though.”

“Besides, we don’t have much information about her.”

Adria shrugged while Carl added.

“Uhm…..the notification said that I acknowledged her Attack power but I need to point the device at her to get it shown on the screen…..”

Zeke crossed his arms and complained.

“What are you talking about. You can just view it right away.”

Carl and Adria looked at each other then he shown the stats screen of common Slime.

“What.”

Zeke was dumb.
