Episode 4 – Party

 

A picture of the slime Zeke had seen before appeared along with its stats screen from Carl’s device. Adria giggled in the background.

“Well…Could I join your party? I promise I’ll be useful.”

Zeke was slightly embarrassed then he made up his mind after few minutes.

“We can split up the prize! You guys teaming up with that consent right?”

There was a dead air for a while. Zeke forgot that they both had they own goals too, so he tried to come up with better solutions.

“…… ye….yeah”

“Let’s have him on our adventures. More people means more easier to proceed, right?”

Carl stuttered and covered his head with one of his hand like he had a headache or some kind, so Adria spoke up instead.

“Thank you! The notification said that I learnt the Slime Queen’s Attack stats from getting hit.”

Zeke opened up the stats window of the Slime Queen.

 

“If I didn’t level up my HP, I could have died from that little monster.”

“I know that if we somehow managed to defeat her and get good starter weapons, but don’t you think it’s too crazy?”

Adria opposed while showing the Slime Queen’s stats from her knowledge.

[You have acknowledged the Slime Queen’s HP, Defense, and Weakness stats.]

[Because you acknowledged by the help of others, you only received 4 experience.]

[You received 4 additional experience from the Newbie event.]

“1,217 HP……also Defense 100…”

Zeke was dumbfounded by how strong the queen was.

“Besides, we don’t have much potions for a long fight.”

Carl picked up a small bag and shown the potions to Zeke.

Inside that bag, there were only 7 potions left. A potion is like medicines. Once you consumed them, they’ll recover your HP.

“Hmm……”

Zeke murmured while trying to come up with ideas.

“I could craft a few more potions if you guys want. I have a potion crafting passive skill after all.”

Adria tried to cheer both of them up.

“That’s not the main problem. The main problem is, our weapons can’t hurt her. We could only rely on the fire which she can put it out easily.”

Carl refused her idea.

“Miss Adria, when that monster was burning, how much damage it received?”

Zeke seemed to come up with a plan. He asked for more information.

“I think……it was.…10 per second?”

Adria tried her best to recall her memories.

“If that small fire can deal 10 per second, I wonder how much will it take if the fire is bigger?”

“Hey, are you planning to start a forest fire? Aren’t you too cruel?”

Carl didn’t like what Zeke said so he quickly opposed him.

“No no no no. I just thought that maybe we could lure her to our trap like a hole or something then throw lots of burning woods and leaves in there.”

Zeke was surprised that his words might make him look evil.

“Well, that’s good, Except. We don’t have a tool to dig though.”

Adria shrugged.

“Then how about we engulf it with fire then miss Adria can shoot arrows that covered with fire from outside the ring. We still have some oil right? That’s gonna be the safest way.”

Zeke suggested.

“Good idea. I’ll support you both in every way!”

Carl approved. Adria’s face was filled with expectations.

“Alright then. That’s the plan.”

“Let’s go to sleep. The faster we put out the light the better for monsters can’t detecting us.”

Carl handed a sleeping bag to Zeke then walked to a lamp and put out the light.

On that night, the sky was clear. The stars were glittering and dancing. Zeke heard some sounds and woke up in the middle of that night.

They slept quite early that evening, so Zeke was unable to sleep for hours. He had just gone to sleep not long before the sounds resonated so he woke up easily.

The sound was some plants getting crushed on a hard surface. Zeke turned to the origin of that sound and saw a figure standing before a table.

“Miss Adria?”

Zeke called out caused Adria to flinch.

“Oh? Sorry. Did I wake you up? I thought I was quiet.”

Adria turned around and saw Zeke walking in.

“What are you doing?”

Zeke tried to peek behind her and saw crushed plants inside a mortar.

“I was making potions for you guys. Just in case something might go wrong…”

Adria didn’t try to hide it. She said while playing with her long hair.

“Despite this dark?....You’re too kind.”

Zeke chuckled a bit then smile at her.

“It…..it’s not that dark! See? The sky is clear today, so everything is bright because of the starts!”

Adria blushed slightly then shown Zeke an unzipped small window above the table.

“I’ll back to my sleep then. Please don’t overdo yourself.”

Zeke did not respond for a while making the situation awkward for Adria then he gave a small smile before go back to his bag.

The next morning, after three of them finished their breakfasts, Adria headed out first to scout the surrounding and to track the Slime Queen.

“I saw it not far from the river yesterday. Just the East of where we found Zeke about 200 meters? It was pretty deep in the forest. I guess they’re pretty good with hiding huh?”

Almost an hour passed, Adria came back with her progress.

Carl locked up the tent then the three moved to the location.

From where they found Zeke, crossing the river, and into the woods. They found a group of slimes and their Queen together in a pond.

The small slimes were playing by bumping slightly with each other while the Slime Queen seemed to be enjoying her food. Her mouth covered with a lot of blood.

Although the Slime Queen was a slime, her face resembled a human and her body looked like a human body mixed with mucus.

“Damn monster! Those blood must be human’s blood!”

Zeke saw the Queen and felt a disgust.

“Let’s back away for now. We’ll avenge them!”

Carl pulled Zeke’s shoulder back then the three retreated to an open space not far from the slime’s pond that Adria mentioned.

Although it was an open space, there were still some trees and bushes to help disguising their traps.

“Cutting off trees might make monsters alert and reveal our location. Let’s collect fallen sprigs and leaves then.”

“Yes, sir!”

Carl suggested. They all agreed and scattered to find tinders.

…..

“Yesterday was too busy. This is a good time to adjust my stats”

Zeke opened up the stats window and adjusted his 12 points while looking for tinder.

“Its Attack is 100 anyway, so I’ll just try to dodge its attacks. Attack is the most important thing in this game.”

….

“That Slime Queen could even talk. Are you sure it’s gonna take our baits? When I was hiding that b*tch used its skill to reveal me.”

After the three gathered enough tinder, they scattered them and formed a big circle shape around the open space.

After that Carl poured oil on top of those tinder to help them igniting faster and easier.

“The Queen seems to cherish its offspring so much. I’ll catch one of them and use it as a bait.”

While Carl was busy with the oil, Zeke explained to Adria from his observation back when he was negotiating the Slime Queen.

“Umm…..you might be correct. I saw what you did yesterday too."

"You were so charming!”

Adria approved and then teased Zeke in low voice.

“I-I’ll go try catching the small slime!”

Zeke didn’t expect that at all. He thought maybe she wants to pay back last night? He blushed slightly then walk away to find the bait while Adria was giggling behind.

….

Rustle rustle

Sounds of bushes rustled came not far from the pond. A curious slime heard it and quickly oozed to check it out.

“The best way to lure animals is to catch their attentions!”

“Got you!”

When the curious slime got close enough, Zeke caught it with both hands.

[You have angered the Slime Queen!]

The Slime Queen happened to see the moment her slime got caught. She immediately rushed to Zeke.

“Sh*t!”

Zeke grabbed the slime tightly then started running away toward the trap location.

“Should I say that this is lucky? At least it makes things easier than showing up suddenly and threaten her. Haha!”

Zeke thought positively. Carl and Adria saw him running to this way they both immediately know that it’s time to battle.

“Hey! Don’t run into the ring! Adria might hit you!”

Carl saw Zeke ran inside the trap ring so he quickly told Zeke to escape from there quickly!

But the chasing Slime Queen had already reached the area and entered before Zeke could get out.

“Light it!”

Zeke threw the slime back to the Queen then shout at Carl to ignite the trap.

“Damn it! I’m going in too!”

Carl was reluctant at first then when he saw the Queen caught the little slime, he quickly ignited the trap or else the target might come out.

“No! Don’t! I can do this! You throw me potions from outside!”

Seeing Carl was sealing the entrance of the trap from inside Zeke quickly shouted. If Carl and him were inside, Adria wouldn’t be able to focus on her attacks because she would busy throwing potions for them.

Carl understood Zeke’s intentions immediately so he quickly got out off the ring and sealed the entrance then on standby with the potions.

“Miss Adria! I’ll try sending you signals from inside! The fire might block your vision, so that’s why I’m here! We can do this!”

Zeke shouted loudly and explained to Adria.

“Ok! I believe in you! I’m ready!”

Adria answered from the outside. The fire was roaring. The flame walls were tall Adria couldn’t see what was happening inside.

“Come at me, monsters!”

Zeke provoked the Slime Queen.

“Vile Human!”

The Slime Queen responded as she covered the little slime inside her body to protect from the fire.
