Chapter 9: Chapter 9 – Kai’s Wisdom

In the calm of the capital, many people had been in high positions for a long time, growing accustomed to their power and positions. They became reluctant to let go of either. Once Kai came into power, many would lose their power.

Comparatively, Benigo as the first son of Man, he had been the most prominent successor before Kai was named by Man. He was a kind and benevolent man that would maintain order well. If not for Man asking Terra for help, he was the most likely to inherit the throne.

Both of them originally assisted Kai, ready for him to take over and to retire peacefully. But almost a decade in power without their father in place made them reluctant like others in power. Their mentalities changed over time, along with the bunch of supporters that relied on them for their power.

Man’s prestige was still incredibly high in the hearts of the entire Babylon Kingdom. Many veterans and elderly didn’t want to change his successor. Those people happily accepted the promising boy, Kai. Unfortunately, among the three factions, Kai’s was the weakest. Apart from being the orthodox heir no aspects could compete with the other two.

In the tense times, the day of reckoning arrived. Neither Benigo nor Ethan’s factions were willing to allow Kai to ascend the throne, both led a team of loyal men and surrounded the palace. Both stormed the small palace in a rush. The two large groups confronted each other over which of the two leaders would take the throne.

At this time, outside of the palace. A sudden rain of arrows fall upon the palace surrounded by the two forces. The arrows were flaming, not targeting the soldiers inside, but instead aimed for the gutter of the palace. In the gutter it was filled with a dark unknown liquid.

The flaming arrows continued to fall, they ignited the black oil in the gutters and around the palace. A raging fire grew as thick black smoke covered the entire palace. The two battling factions were stunned, no one had seen anything like this before. The two sides made up of thousands of people struggled against this smoke without any results.

In the deteriorating situation, Benigo and Ethan escaped the palace with their trusted guards. The only entrance to the palace area was held by Kai and his guards. Flaming arrows continuously fell, they wore away at the two groups. Even the most tenacious soldier couldn’t break through the blockage of the guards. The fire continued to grow larger, and the smoke continued to grow darker. Flames swept away people as smoke smothered others to death.

The palace became filled with shrill screams. Thousands of people were killed like reaping wheat. Only a few hours later the battle for the throne ended. The rebelling forces had heroic tenacity, but the few great warriors were greatly outnumbered by Kai’s guards. Ethan was the last remaining person alive in the palace, with more than a dozen arrows and many other wounds he eventually died where he struggled.

’10,00?’ Terra remarked in her heart. That was all her savings from frugal living and odd jobs around on top of her measly federal allowance. If the toll was paid, she would have nothing left.

‘Without input, there will be no chance to gain’ She sighed so in her heart, Terra Star handed over her ID card, saying “One connection to a first-level unowned realm.”

The receptionist took the ID card with a sound of affirmation. She gestured to a panel between them, she said, “Please choose a realm fir…”

“Yep.” Terra Stars replied.
