Chapter 4: C004—Exclusive Zone (1)

Rein raced towards the planet Crossof with incredible speed. He shot down like a rocket trying to break free from a gravitational prison!

Whoo—

'Thank goodness this is just virtual reality,' Rein thought as he gazed at the blue ocean below, which he was on the verge of crashing into. He had traversed through each layer of the atmosphere in less than a minute. It wouldn't be long before he penetrated the final layer.

—SWOOOSH 

[ Welcome to the Crossof, Rein ]

WHOOMP—

As his speed slowed after passing through the last atmosphere, Rein was able to relax and enjoy the view from 10,000 meters above the water's surface. Despite being controlled by the system, he was able to glide more leisurely and take in the breathtaking sight.

"Is it always like this?" Rein thought as he looked around, amazed by the clear curvature of the sun's refracted light.

But it doesn't last long...

The system will not allow players to enjoy the excitement without any action!

"Clouds?! WAIT! I'M OKAY! I WANT TO GO TO THE EXCLUSIVE ZONE TOO!

"PLEASE! NOT THE CLOUDS!" 

Rein was suddenly confronted by enormous clouds. From their appearance, they looked ready to rain down water on the land. The clouds were dark blue and thunder was springing out of them.

Rein was more scared than ever. This reminded him of a traumatic event from his real life experience. He had encountered cumulonimbus clouds while on a plane and the pilot had even told them about almost losing control in the air.

'Please don't die,' Rein thought to himself as he entered the dark cumulonimbus clouds, surrounded by the sounds of thunder. The cold air enveloped him as he moved further into the clouds.

The ray of light from behind the clouds is popping out, and as the light became clearer in his eyes, he felt relieved, it was the same feeling that he had been through, "Thank goodness, it's just like breaking through the clouds on that plane."

Whizzz—whoomp

After a couple of clouds, I finally reached the last layer of them. Nonetheless, I was very surprised when I came out of the cloud. 

'This is?'

[ Welcome to 〘Exclusive Zone〙 ] 

As I flew through the final layer of clouds, I was excited by the vast expanse of land that greeted me. Tall green trees filled my vision and the only sounds were the wind and the gurgling of a nearby river.

"This place is unique," I thought as I looked around. 

The land was fully covered by trees and the ceiling was completely shrouded by clouds. 

Despite the lack of sunlight, the Exclusive Zone was still lit by the glow of the clouds, giving off a low-tone yellowish light like fireflies in the night.

"It's not just technology, it's magic." 

The clouds not only provided light on the ceiling, but their light also illuminated the entire place. "How do they manage to bring light to the land without the sun?" he wondered.

"But it doesn't matter because—" I looked around, but still couldn't find the whereabouts of the person I was looking for.

"Someone invited me to come, but there's no one here to greet me. Or is the cold air from the clouds their way of greeting? I have no idea..."

I started to ramble...

—Ding!

When I was just rambling random things about them, a screen appeared in front of me, "Now you hear me."

[Quest: Come here!]

"Come here?" I said as I read the blue screen in front of me. 

I was confused about what was happening and tried to think through the situation with my detective mind. 

'I should check the quest details,' I thought to myself, remembering how to access more information about the quest.

"Open Quest tab."

I was happy to see the screen. Although this was my first time playing the VR-MMORPG Crossof Realm, I had experience with VR in-game features and knew how to navigate the user interface.

"So they gave me a Special Quest?"

The Special Quest column flickered and shone with a golden border, indicating something new that had not been opened before. I quickly pointed my finger to open the tab.

I opened the quest and a brief explanation was displayed.

"I don't understand and I want to pay him soon enough." 

—Ding!

Another notification came up.

[Quest: Come here! (2)]

"Looks like I'm in vain here."

Even though the Quest title is sketchy, I open it again. However, this time they add another word to make it a little different than before....

"I will check out who or what is behind this Special Quest, whether it's an NPC, player, or supervillain," I said, full of excitement. 

My goal is not to kill them, but rather to learn more about them, 'It must be fun to find out what they are scared of in life because I will change it.'

"Open Map!" 

The screen showing the land of the Exclusive Zone opened in front of me, according to the map of the Exclusive Zone, I was in the South and it indicates that the comparison between the map and the original size is...

[10.000(m):1(cm).]

"That means the Exclusive Zone is about 900 square kilometers?" I exhaled in surprise as I calculated the size of this place based on the map. It was much larger than I had expected.

"Twelve times the size of Paris?! That's insane—so where are they at???" 

I wondered where the person I was looking for was located, and a flicker of light appeared on the map, it was almost in the middle...

"L—Lord Mansion?"

My words come true, "It's gonna be a supervillain, this is gonna be the end for me..."

"I'm so dead, Can I log out?"

"Yeah.. yeah.. who wants to fight a supervillain after traveled for hundreds thousands meter when we're just level 0! NONE! WE DIED!"

No one wants to die, yet everyone will for major events!
