Chapter 23: Chapter 22 – Battle

“Isn’t this dangerous?” 

We were charging straight into the crowd, if they noticed us wouldn’t we just be eliminated immediately? Luckily for now though, it seemed like they were all focused on our remaining teammates.  

“My skill makes them unable to see us.” 

Ah, is that what ‘Sneak’ did? When I checked everyone’s skills, I thought that, that one was a bit confusing, I had figured it would just make you less noticeable, but completely unnoticeable? That was broken. 

“I see.” 

She still held my arm as we rushed past 3 enemies, they had no idea we were here. 

We were now about 15 feet away from their leader. Violet had pulled out one of her daggers with her free hand. We were about to charge him. 

“Everybody! Now! Over there!” 

Their leader shouted; eyes wide, looking straight at us. 

Huh? I thought we were supposed to be basically invisible? 

“How did he-” 

Violet and I stopped in our tracks. It didn’t seem like Violet expected this either, her pupils shook. 

Looking around it seemed like everyone- No, almost everyone was looking at us, but their faces seemed confused. 

Maybe- 

Violet let go of my hand and took out her other dagger, she also deactivated her skill which made us visible again. 

The looks on the faces surrounding us seemed surprised, like they didn’t even expect us in the first place. 

Shit. They couldn’t see us in the first place, his ‘Map’ skill probably saw us. Violet screwed up. Ah, well, can’t do anything about it now. 

We were both going to be eliminated here, and there wasn’t much we could do about it. Looking past the crowd, it seemed like there was still an onslaught on our remaining teammates who gathered up. How did they have this many people still? 

Agh, I can’t think about that right now, me and Violet were back-to-back, I took a spear from off my back and got into stance. 

Did I learn any spear stances? No. But I wasn’t planning on using the spear at all. 

“The girl uses daggers while the guy uses a spear!” 

“Focus on the girl!” 

Their leader had shouted, I think they were going to focus on eliminating Violet so they could attack me from behind.  

They didn’t seem to have anyone using a shield which is why they couldn’t target me immediately. 

“Charge!” 

The people in front of me stood still on guard, it didn’t seem like they planned on moving. While the people in front of Violet started to move. 

Since Violet uses daggers she can’t defend much, I had to make a move. 

“Violet, use your ‘Sneak’ and attack their leader from the front.” 

I was focused in front of me, waiting for her words of affirmation. 

“It won’t work, they can through my skill.” 

“Just do it.” 

The people in front of me started to look confused again, so I turned around and Violet had disappeared. The people who were charging at her before also stopped moving and looked confused.  

“She’s gone invisible! Half of you surround me!” 

Their leader shouted. 

“The other half of you target their main group!” 

He continued, 

“Three of you stay on the spear user, attack him from both sides!” 

He’s making a lot of commands... Is this his ‘Strategy’ talent? Eh, I can’t focus on that right now. 

There were 2 people in front of me and 1 behind, I thought they would have attacked me already but maybe they were scared of the spear.

Did they think that I could do what Ally did? Whatever, it worked out for me. 

I wonder if I could put this rag in my pocket? 

Eh, I’ll probably just lose if I don’t try. 

I took the rag off my arm and jammed it into my pocket, the 2 in front of me looked very confused. 

… 

I didn’t get teleported... I wonder what classifies on what gets you eliminated. 

“Hey! You can’t do that!” 

One of the 2 in front of me pointed at me and shouted. 

I tilted my head, I just did it? 

I could hear some footsteps from behind me. 

*SWOOSH* 

I quickly moved out of the way, the guy behind me swung for my head. 

Was he trying to knock me out? 

I sloppily thrusted my spear towards him, but he quickly dodged it. 

“Tch.” 

I could see his face scrunch up and heard him click his tongue. 

I decided to run. There was no way I’d be able to beat them head-on when I had no clue how to use a spear. 

“Hey! Stop running!” 

One of them began to follow me, the other two tried to tell him to wait 

“Wait!” 

“Stop!” 

We were a good 10-ish feet away from the others before they started to run as well. But now, there was enough time. 

I looked behind me and remembered where he was, I pointed the spearhead towards the ground and dug it slightly into the sand. 

Lifting it up sand was thrown into the air, quickly turning around I could see him start to cover his eyes. 

“Sand!? What?!” 

I quickly threw the spear towards his stomach, if I was lucky then this would eliminate him. If not- 

He barely got himself together in time and blocked the spear that was thrown at him. 

“You lost your weapon!” 

If not, I was still fine. 

I pulled out one of the wooden swords that was on my side and slashed his side. 

“Agh!” 

He disappeared. 

Did that mean if you took a hit that would be fatal, you’d be eliminated? What were these rags for then? Or were they just another way to be eliminated? 

“Lan!” 

The two who were chasing me yelled. 

“That’s dirty!” 

Huh? That’s dirty? You’re literally ganging up on me? 

I put the sword back on my hip and picked up the spear and got into stance again.
