“He picked up the spear again!”

“Let’s attack him from both sides!”

The two of them had gotten on both my left and right and my back was against a wall.

I decided to rush one of them, before they could both rush me.

I threw my spear at the black-haired sword wielder, he was able to easily block it, but I didn’t stop the attack there. I took the other spear from off my back and swung it down, with the reach of the spear I was still out of his sword’s reach.

“Bastard!”

It caught him off guard for a split-second, but he was easily able to gain his composure and dodge.

Shit-

By the time I could think I was being rushed from behind, the brown-haired sword wielder had swung at my back.

I was barely able to move forward just enough to evade being ‘fatally’ damaged, I wasn’t eliminated yet.

“He’s weak! Let’s charge him!” The black-haired guy started to attack, with the brown-haired guy following.

I threw my spear at the brown-haired guy and drew my sword; I ran.

Since they were only attacking me from 2 sides and my back against the wall, there was 1 wide open area left. I thought that maybe if I could meet up with my class then I might be able to do something.

...

But it was too late.

I was able to run, but I didn’t think that I’d be the last one left. As soon as I started running towards the middle, I was surrounded by the red-ragged enemies.

“Get him!”

“He’s surrounded!”

Fuck.

“I surrender.” I dropped my weapons and raised my hands.

I was immediately teleported out, I had no clue if that would work, but since it was just a game, I figured that they’d allow it.

In the next moment as I was understanding my surroundings, a teacher began to speak with his voice amplified.

“It looks like my class has won today; The winner of this sparring session, Combat-B Class!”

“Now I know some of you may be confused, so I’ll explain it simply.”

“Every month you’ll have a sparring session of ‘Real Combat’ with another class.”

“Winning these sparring sessions- let’s call them games. Winning these games will get you some points you can use to eventually have your own weapon created.”

“Of course, you can get these points in your other classes as well, but today’s win has gotten Combat-B class 2 points!”

“The MVP of today was undoubtably Jinn Klen! So, he’ll get 4 points!”

“And that’s about it, today’s class will end on that note, but before you go, just remember, at any moment, the game could start. Good luck.”

And just like that, the teacher disappeared. Why did they all disappear after making some ludicrous statement?

They said these games will happen once a month, so obviously we’d be safe for another month...

Looking towards my left I could see a group of people looking down, included in that group were people from my class, Violet, Chloe, and Ally. Perhaps they thought we’d actually be able to win in that situation?

Oh well, it didn’t bother me.

I hope Rio is at the cafeteria already...

---

When I arrived at the cafeteria, I looked around. I couldn’t see Rio so maybe his class was still going.

I guess I’ll wait a little bit then. I sat at an empty table and relaxed.

An hour went by and there was no sign of him, was his class taking this long?

I guess I’ll eat later.

I got up and headed to the gym, might as well practice my swordsmanship.

When I arrived there, Ian and Taku were already training. How are they always here?

“Hey.”

I waved to both of them as I went to pick up a wooden sword.

They seemed to be too immersed in training as they didn’t notice me; I stood infront of a training dummy and began to practice my ‘Lout Swordsmanship.’

“Haah.”

I sighed; time really flew by when practicing. It was fun, before I came here, how many things could I say were fun other than reading and writing? Probably not much but improving feels amazing.

It’s been a couple hours since I started, though I was still nowhere close to being good, it still felt good.

Looking at Ian and Taku, they were still training, did they not get tired? They never seemed to never be not training other than when they ate or were in class.

I got up and put my sword back, I could hear my stomach rumbling, so I was heading to lunch.

I gave them a wave as I was leaving but I don’t think they noticed.

When I arrived at the cafeteria, I looked around for Rio, but he still wasn’t there.

I sat at an empty table and looked towards the ceiling. I’ll wait a few more minutes.

“Leo!”

I could hear a voice from behind me, it was an energetic, lively voice. It was Rio.

“Hey.”

“Sorry I took so long, the teacher wanted to talk to me. Were you waiting for me?”

“No.”

“Have you already eaten!?”

“No.”

“Oh! Then let’s eat!” Rio had a smile on his face

We grabbed some food and went back to the table

Rio and I were both eating some type of meat, whatever it was, it was good. This was the most prestigious school after all.

“What’d the teacher call you for?” I asked, I’m sure if it was something bad, he’d have told me, but I was just curious.

“Oh that! Before the class started, I was suddenly in the teachers' lounge, Mr. Mispholfo had asked me about my proficiency in my talent!”

“What’d you say?”

“Hmm, honestly... I don’t know. There hasn’t been a weapon I’ve felt uneasy with... But- It's weird, I know how to use the weapon, but I don’t as well...”

Rio’s smile curved a little downward, while his eyes followed.

“That’s normal.”

“Huh?”

“Just because you have a ‘Weapon Master’ talent, doesn’t mean you’ll know everything about them. Of course, you’ll know how to use them, but you won’t know how to USE them.”

“Do you think I knew how to do music just because of my ‘Music’ talent?”

I mean, now that I think about it, I kind’ve did actually. Playing the piano felt very natural, though... At the same time, I didn’t know any of the chords or things I was actually playing... Talents are weird.

“Really!?” Rio’s smile flipped from downwards to normal fast, he seemed in a better mood after hearing my words. Maybe he was anxious about his talent.

“Of course.”

Also, those lyrics I sang, I wonder if it’d still be good if I just sang some random words? I should experiment with my talent and skills a bit more.
