Chapter 6: Chapter 3: Monster & Status Board

As I trekked through the forest I looked around for signs of any other people.

But so far nothing.

Still, I'm not about to give up that easily.

I continued walking, climbing over branches and fallen trees as I did so.

Eventually I heard a sound in my ears.

The sound of running water. I'd recognized it anywhere.

Hearing in on my left I turned in the direction of it and started moving towards it. Eventually I exited the trees and found myself in front of a flowing river.

Then as soon as I laid eyes on it I felt the dryness in my throat.

Feeling this I moved over to the stream and knelt down. I then put my hands into the water and scooped some up and drank it. Enjoying the crisp and cool refreshing feeling traveling down my throat as I did so.

I still have no idea what is happening here, but I do know one thing. I am going to survive, no matter.

And if that means quenching my thirst then so be it.

I drank a bit more water using my hands and once I was done I stood up and then shook them dry. I then got ready to move out again.

*Crunch*

That is until I heard a branch break in the trees behind me.

Turning in its direction I noticed a creature step out of the treeline, looking directly at me as it did so.

It is a wolf, but is blood red all over. Even its eyes are completely red.

Seeing this beast I immediately recognized it.

It's one of the monsters from Ethereal Ark.

A creature known as a Red Wolf.

It is a level 50 monster found in forested areas, just like the one I am in right now.

The moment I laid eyes on this beast I swallowed a lump in my throat.

If this was still the game I could take this bastard out no problem.

My level was 240 after all.

This guy was a small fry compared to me.

However since this is not the game I am pretty much fucked sideways.

*Raw!!!*

Releasing a furious snarl the Red Wolf lunged in my direction.

As it did so I moved to evade, and surprisingly I was able to do so quite easily.

Landing I turned around, just as the wolf landed and turned back around. Getting ready to pounce at me again.

"Dammit!" I muttered.

I'm glad I dodge its first attack but I might not get so lucky again.

And running away from this thing might make the situation even worse since I'll have no idea where I'll be running to. If I encounter a dead end or a block in my path with this beast on my tale I'm done for.

"Damn." I muttered again. "If only I had a weapon or something." I said.

If I had one of weapons from the game then I could probably take this monster no problem.

Like my main weapon, a sword known as Gram.

'If only I had Gram.' I thought.

Then no sooner than I did so did a flash of light appear in my left hand.

Immediately after it died down I saw I was holding Gram.

It looks exactly how I remember it.

A blood-red blade with a cross-shaped hilt. Radiating a deadly aura.

Gram is a cursed sword after all.

Seeing this I was in disbelief once again. But I am also happy since it means I now having  a fighting chance.

*Raw!!*

Releasing another snarl like before the Red Wolf lunged at me.

But this time I am ready.

As the monster closed in on me I felt as if time slowed down all around me. 

Then as it did so I swung Gram upward, and then time started back up again.

Right after it did so the Red Wolf split apart, since I bisected it cleanly down the middle. 

Blood sprayed all over the place as the two halves of the beasts landed on either side of me.

A moment passed before I lowered Gram and looked at the corpse. Surprisingly feeling nothing at all from seeing it.

"Well, that takes care of that." I said.

Flicking Gram I got rid of the minor blood on its blade. I then thought about Gram disappearing and it did so in a flash of light. I then thought about it appearing again and it did.

Seeing this I breathed a sigh of relief.

Because now I know I can get a weapon for battle if I need to.

I sent Gram away again.

Once I did I started to think about things a little more in-depth.

A monster from the game is in this world. As is my personal weapon.

So does this mean this world functions with the game mechanics somehow?

Following this train of thought I started doing several things to see if I could activate any other gam mechanics.

Five minutes passed without any success.

Until I said that single word.

"Status." I said.

The second after I did so a green holographic screen appeared right before my eyes a few inches, displaying my current status.
