Chapter 53: Chapter 52: Splitting Soul. (1)

Inside the Pharherb lab. It’s already been more than a week, all the tests failed. The good news is the virus doesn't show any symptoms on healthy people. The government has given a warning for the elderly to not go out if there are no important things to do.

 

My mom was worried about the virus at first. But now has decided to go out for business or hangout with her friend. I can’t stop her, and continue the experiment. What I found out is that although the vital energy can’t destroy the virus, inside my body it's different. Maybe I need to test it on infected people.

 

Since the experiment is not progressing I decided to go for a breather. I have a feeling that the virus is not simple.

 

Walking out from the experiment lab, I decided to find Liam and others. According to Liam, they soon will be on their first big mission from the government. The government doesn't want to get their hands dirty and will use the mercenaries to do certain job.

At night in Sruton city. In one of the buildings. Liam is explaining their plan to the member of Blood Shield mercenary. The new member is a young man with curly hair Zoey. The plan is in a few hours they will attack one of the space pirate lair on Teria.

 

The other mercenaries refused to accept the job, because the space pirate outnumbers them. It’s better to be alive and do another mission than dying. At first Liam wanted to ask Devin, Arian and Logan to join because they have experience in killing terrorists and space pirates. While he is thinking, Mr. Sylas sends him a message that he is going to join.

 

“Cough like I have explained, according to the information there are around 100 people inside the pirate lair.”

 

“Why does the government don’t do anything?” Sara spoke.

 

“Maybe the pirate has support from someone in the Teria government.” Gianna spoke.

 

Liam tells them another piece of news. “We also have been ordered to assassinate that accomplice.”

 

“It’s like the government is doing some cleanup.” Dylan spoke.

 

“After what happened on Otune, the human federation decided to kill any mole or traitor they could find. Because of that Vance and Chris decided to hide for now.” Liam after telling them to sit down.

 

After considering, I spoke. “What is your suggestion?”

 

“We will eliminate the pirate lair and Mr. Sylas will assassinate the government official. Vance already gives us the information about the space pirate and the target location.”

 

“Where is the target location?”

 

“We can go together. The target and space pirate base are not far from each other.”

Zoey has been living with Li's friends after following them. Li's robotic body has been severely damaged and has been sent somewhere for repair.

 

In a few days, Zoey is getting anxious because he has nothing to do other than eat and sleep. Since his parents died from an accident, to survive in Dead town. He has been working hard to find stuff in the rubbish dump to eat or sell.  

 

Following his explanation of his problem to Vance. Vance inquires if he is interested in working as a mercenary. Zoey agreed because he didn't have anything else to do. Liam is the leader of the Blood shield mercenaries. He teaches Zoey how to use firearms and works on his physical fitness.

 

The other members of Blood shield mercenary are strong, especially the two women. Both of them are beautiful and strong, the men in the group are afraid of them. One day Liam wants to show me something. In a large training area other members are already waiting for them. 

 

What Zoey saw after that almost made him run. They all transform into monsters. After calming down, Liam begins explaining why they can transform and if he passed the loyalty test. He can also change his body, but even if he doesn’t want to, it's fine. Liam also can’t change his body like them. 

 

The day continued like usual until Liam told them. They have a mission and their true leader named Mr. Sylas is joining the mission. According to Liam and others, he is really strong and can destroy a spaceship. In Zoey's mind, he thought they are exaggerating Mr. Sylas strength.

 

In the meeting room. Zoey finally sees him. Dark blonde hair, average face and has blue eyes. The reaction of the other people is respect or fear. Except for Gianna he is eyeing Mr. Sylas like some kind of predator while licking her lips.

 

Zoey stops thinking after hearing Liam begin explaining the mission. After that all of them take an aircraft that has two wings like a helicopter fan to go there.

 

“I am getting sick.” Zoey's face turned pale because of motion sickness.

 

“Hang on, is this your first time entering an aircraft?” Liam asked.  

 

“No, it’s my second time.”

 

“Don’t worry, after you fly a few more times you will get used to it.”

 

After landing in the forest far away from the target base. Mr. Sylas split with us and went in a different direction.

 

“Zoey lets go.”

 

“Is it okay for Mr. Sylas to go alone?”

 

“Hahaha, don’t worry. Mr. Sylas is stronger than all of us. This is my advice: don't make him your enemy.” Dylan spoke.

 

“We can hide from him.”

 

“You are right, but I have a feeling that he has a way to track us.” Mateo has been quiet for a long time, and finally spoke.

 

“What, when he put a tracking device on us?” Zoey begins checking his body for anything weird.

 

“Mr. Sylas has not put any device on us. But we all have this feeling that he knows our location.”

Except for Liam, they all nodded. Liam is the same as Zoey, the only member of the group who has not participated in the human experiment. As a result, Liam's body doesn't have Sylas' vital energy. The vital energy protects the gene from deterioration and allows for tracking.

Outskirt of Sruton city. There is a place that has one mansion near the mountain. For the security they are not afraid because the one that guarded the area is the military.

 

Inside the mansion the vice president of planet Teria is talking to someone.

 

“Lay low for now, the federation has begun to tighten their watch.” The vice president has a chubby body and sparse hair.

 

“I understand, how about our deal?” The middle aged man with a pointed mustache spoke. He looks like a gentleman.

 

“Wait for a few more days and I will give the stuff to you.”

 

“What about the captive?”

 

“Kill them, we must keep this a secret.”

 

“But several of them are related to important people.”

 

“That’s why we need to kill them. Bring them with you to other places before killing them.”

 

“I understand.”

 

“Don’t worry, the people behind me can protect us if anything happens.” The chubby man spoke confidently.

 

“That's good to hear.” The man with a pointed mustache heard that feeling of relief. Because he has heard from other fleeing space pirates. That their bases on other planets are being attacked. Majority of them lost a lot of people.

Outside the vice president mansion. The military captain in charge of guarding the area has received a call from someone. The face of the captain changes and finds a quiet area to talk.  

 

“Hello, Mr. President.”

 

[“Order your man to withdraw for few days.”]

 

“Mr. President, without the general order we can’t do that.”

 

[“Don’t worry, I will protect you and your family if anything happens.”]

 

[“I understand.”] The captain begins to order his man to return to the military base. And wait for the next order.

 

The soldiers that guarded the area feel something is amiss. But don’t question it, they can finally take some rest.

Presidential building. An elderly man with gray hair put down his phone. After a while he takes out a cigar and begins smoking it. “Don’t blame me, although you are an obedient dog. But, I need a scapegoat.”

 

Planet Teria's president is an elderly man. Both he and his vice president have accomplished a great deal behind the scenes. However, the human federation is currently conducting a purge. The unlucky will be killed, while the fortunate will be stripped of their position.

 

While he is smoking there is a knock on the door. A middle aged man with a face almost similar to the middle aged man, but without wrinkles entered the room. “Father, why are you not sleeping?”

 

“I have work that needs to be done tonight.”

 

“Father, I think it’s better if you stay home for a few weeks.”

 

“Why?”

 

“There are more elderly civilians that have caught the virus.”

 

“Have they found the cure?”

 

“No, the scientist is calling it the Hoary virus.”

 

“Hahaha, they must be lazy to find a good name for the virus.”

 

“The federation also issued a warning about the Hoary virus.”

 

“Keep me updated about the virus.”

 

“Yes, father.”
