Chapter 28: CHAPTER 28: Confession

Two days after, Harvey already arrived home after being hospitalized. Mickey was there to support him after he became blind. Zion was still there unmoving for a long time.

"What happened to me, Mickey?", Harvey groped while taking a sit on the stool.

"Slowly. Ummm... I think you had been haunted by a monster again.", Mickey brought a glass of water for Harvey.

"What monsters? I remembered that we are just talking on that day and there was a black hole. You entered it and then you were thrown out.", Harvey told his story.

"Really? I don't remember. I think that day, you wanted me to find a job and then you said that you wanted to sleep. It was already six at night, I went home. I do find a job so I wanted you to know but then you can't wake up. I already slapped your face but you are still that sleeper. So, I decided to just sleep then.", Mickey explained.

"I slept like that? I am an insomniac so if there is a noise, I quickly awakened. ", Harvey told him while fixing his messy hair.

"Oh. That freak was unfair. He is a monster in the netherworld who loves to play with human vulnerabilities. He will enter one's mind and there he is fond of copying someone you know.", Mickey smiled while talking to Harvey.

"Yes. Maybe, that one. I saw a person very similar to Zion.", Harvey replied.

Mickey still didn't know what was Kahuna's name in the world. He was puzzled so he asked to verify, "That Zion was Kahuna's name? I really wanted to know but then you don't use that name in your talk and now it already slips into your mouth. I was really glad."

Harvey can't see Mickey's expression but he can sense it. So, he replied, "You really that happy, huh? Yeah, Zion was his name."

Mickey was childish when he described, "I love that name. It is not the same as mine."

Harvey laughed because he was the one who gave that name to Mickey. So, he stood up and groped on his way. He was the owner of that room so he already knew what way was he moving. Mickey watched his steps and was amazed, "Harvey, your blind but then you didn't look like you're really blind."

"I know my room for a long time. So, stop praising me.", Harvey spoke when suddenly he bumped into the wall.

Mickey laughed loudly and teased," You really are, huh?". He approached Harvey and helped him.

Harvey was embarrassed so he just laughed himself. His words were not true anymore. "I want to check Zion."

"Oh, how can you check him if you can't see?.", Mickey asked him with a teasing smile.

"I will find a way. Bring me there.", Harvey demanded.

Mickey laughed loudly after he heard Harvey who was mettlesome to check Zion. After a while, he suddenly fell silent when he felt guilty after fooling with Harvey. There the two went inside the bedroom, Zion was still there for how many weeks already. Mickey supported Harvey to sit beside Zion.

"Get lost. I wanted to be alone with him.", Harvey was demanding.

Mickey lowered his head and silently smiled, "Yes, Kahuna's wife."

Harvey heard him and then he became irritated, "Who's kahuna's wife? Scram and then cook food."

"Yes, ka.....Yeah, Mr. Harvey.", Mickey watched him with a smiling face. He wanted to tease this man since he was blind. Harvey can't see his environment so he just took a seat there in the bed. He slowly held his hand to Zion's face and then gently feel it. Mickey was still there observing Harvey. He was feeling in love after witnessing Harvey. There, he just stood at the door and wanted to be filled with love, too.

"Zion. Are you there?", Harvey asked with a low voice. Mickey was there smiling widely at the door.

Harvey slowly groped Zion's hand and then held it tightly, "Wake up, now. I need you here. I am alone and nobody will cheer me up. There is your subordinate here but then he is stupid.". Mickey heard it and then he silently laughed.

"I didn't know what is my feeling towards you before. But, maybe, now.", Harvey said loudly, and then his tears fell.

Mickey sympathized with the man so, he just leave the room to give them privacy. Harvey was fully unaware of Mickey who was watching him. He slipped those words just to release all his emotions. Maybe, this will be his first love after how many years he was been single. His heart was saying that he was already in love but then, he just hiding it. There in the bed, Harvey laid his head on Zion's chest and heard his heartbeat. It was already beating rapidly. Harvey stayed his head on it for a long time, then suddenly, there was a voice. "Don't worry. I will not die." Harvey can hear the words clearly but seemed it wasn't coming from Zion's mouth. It was all on his mind. He said to himself, "I know, you are always there for me."

Harvey moved his head to Zion's face and then he touched Zion's lips. It was very soft and lean. There, he slipped his lips towards Zion's. That was his very first kiss. Harvey lay beside Zion and then hugged the man tightly. He whispered, "I love you."

In the kitchen, Mickey was cooking food while listening to music on the small transistor radio. He was there smiling the whole time while thinking of Harvey who caresses Zion. He can't fully believe that love has no gender as long as you did not step on another's life, it will be alright. The radio's song was lively and not displaying love so Mickey decided to change the station. He wanted to be filled with love too. He murmured to himself, "When I can find my only one, too?"

While Mickey was in the kitchen, he heard that someone was knocking at the door. So, he opened it and there the owner, that old lady stood there, with seducing smile. Her face was full of makeup and filled with lots of powder, which made her look like a ghost. That old lady was looking foolish when she wore a body-fitting thin gown that revealed her rolled tummy. Mickey was shocked and speechless after seeing the old lady. He wanted to burst into laughter but then

he remembered before that this old woman was a terror. So, he asked, "Madam, what brings you here?". Mickey was not the type of eavesdropper so he didn't know what type of person was he talking to.

The old lady smiled and seemed to tease, "Boy, are you alone here?". Mickey paused for a moment and quirked his brows, then, "Why? What's the problem?"

The tenants outside saw the old lady at Harvey's door. So, they approached and stopped the old lady's vice again. The young woman named Jessica, with whom Harvey was having a conversation before, interrupted the interaction between Mickey and the old lady, "Get lost. What are you doing here? Do you want to covet my boyfriend. Do that vices of yours on the cemetery.".

The old woman frowned and glared at Jessica. While, on the other hand, Mickey was also surprised and stared at Jessica. He wanted to clarify what was the meaning of Jessica's words but Jessica raised his brows. She wanted Mickey to shut his mouth.

"I don't allow couples that are not married here.", that old lady spoke with an angry voice.

The other tenants laughed at the old woman and then they replied synchronously, "Really?"

Jessica was no longer respectful toward that old lady after knowing that issue. So, she said, "Really? Then why you did do that?"

That old lady was taken aback and was very irritated so she tried to slap Jessica, "What you say? I will kick you out here." Mickey was surprised and noticed that the old lady already rose her hand so he quickly held that old woman's hand arm tightly and then said, "Don't hurt the young woman." He was still confused after witnessing this scene. He didn't learn how to interact with the crowd since he was just a low-level keeper and hadn't experienced the real world. He was just

running other keeper's errands in the netherworld.

Jessica stared at Mickey and said, "That woman is a scum. So, always ignore her if you meet her." The old lady was there in the corner, having an ugly expression, and she watched the people around with glaring eyes. The tenants also watched her with fierce eyes too as they disgusted the old lady. After a few moments, the old woman can't bear her maybe embarrassment so she screamed, "Crazy people. I will kick you out all here." Then, she rushed away without looking back.

"Why that old scum is here?", the man asked while staring at the old lady rushing away.

Mickey answered, "I don't know. She asked if I am alone. What is she meant by that?"

Jessica replied while fixing his messy hair, "She owns a sex den." The tenants hear the word Jessica described so they burst into laughter. On the other side, Mickey was puzzled by what that word meant. So, he posted a question, "What do you mean by that?". The man who stood at his room's door replied, "Having a lot of happiness with your precious.", then he laughed.

"What precious?', Mickey was fully unaware since he was not committed to earthly things.

The man pointed to Mickey's lower and then he laughed, "That thing under your pants. She will be happy by that."

Jessica smirked and interjected, "I need to go. Man, don't come near to that old lady.". She walked away down to the stairs and Mickey stared at her behind. The man was still gaggling then continued, "She's pretty, huh?"

Mickey widened his eyes and then replied, "Yeah. umm.... What do you mean by what you said earlier.", he quickly went to the topic earlier. He wanted to be answered. The man frowned and then replied, "You are a man, but then you didn't know that thing." Mickey blinked his eyes and then scratched his head, "You mean that old lady wanted to see my naked body." Mickey laughed in embarrassment and then the man replied, "That's what I mean. You really that ignorant, huh?"

Author's Note:

Author here! Well, there is an ancient belief or maybe it is just jargon that staying still at the door is said bad for a pregnant woman. As for my opinion, it may be just a joke since after saying, "Don't stay at the door, there is a preggy here." The one who speaks will laugh and jest. So, maybe it is just a part of the Filipino language to let the visitors come inside the house. It could be a welcoming statement.
