Chapter 5: A New World (4)

After the zombies moved towards the opposite corner, they quickly moved towards the two on the other corner. Kaan knew that they didn't have too much time, the noise dragged zombies but it wouldn't hold them here too long.

When they reached the zombies surrounding the zombies, they began to kill them quickly. The zombies' attentions were on the two they were surrounding so it was not hard to take care of them like this.

'Yes, it'll work.'

As he thought suddenly, he felt a hand on his left arm. When he realized it he saw the other hand of the zombie heading toward his hand. He quickly raised the baseball bat and stooped its hand reaching his hand but now both his hands were occupied.

'How was I not able to realize it? Was it because of this chaos?'

He began to panic and kicked the leg of the zombie again and again until it was broken, but when it broke the zombie dragged him along with its falling body.

'Shit, shit!'

When they were on the ground, he saw the jaw of the zombie getting closer, he quickly let go of the bat and punched the jaw of zombie. He had to do something quickly or he would be infected, or some other zombie would come here to kill him, but he wasn't in a good position. Once again zombie tried to bite him while its hand attacked Kaan's throat.

He held the hand attacking his throat and tried to avoid the head but there was not much to do.

'Not like this!'

He felt his heart beating like crazy as he saw the wide-opened mouth of the zombie getting closer to him. His mind was moving so quickly but whatever he thought he didn't see a way out of this right now.

'Have I acted harshly because I wanted to save them? It looks like I don't have any other choice.'

As he was fighting with his thoughts he stopped these thoughts and then thought about using the 'Fire Bolt'. Suddenly everything started to slow around him, nearly as if they were not moving like this morning when the warning came.

Even if the time was so slow his thought was fast and clear. He saw a card glowing red appear between the zombie's wide open mouth and in front of him. The glowing card was like demanding him to use it quickly and Kaan was happy to obey it.

The problem he was not sure how to use it cause he was not in a position to grab the card so he just thought about using it in his mind. Then the suddenly disappeared leaving a red trail behind him.

When the time turned normal a fire bolt the size of a tennis ball appeared in front of Kaan's face. He could feel the warmth and power in this little ball. Then it suddenly charged towards the zombie's mouth and pierced it leaving a burning trail on the zombie's head.

After the zombie's head was pierced by the ball Kaan felt the power of its limbs was gone and he freed himself quickly, but the fire bolt didn't stop with just that. It continued to move towards the gate where most of the zombies he caused one more zombie that pierced two of the zombies causing before stopping in a zombie's body.

As Kaan was watching this, he felt a hand on his shoulder. He quickly turned around ready to react but saw the suited-wearing guy's surprised face. He grabbed the baseball bat and helped himself to get up by using the suit-wearing guy's hand.

When he looked around saw that the suit-wearing guy was dealing with zombies trying to get close to him when he was on the ground.

"Are you okay?"

He asked after the shock of what he had seen was gone.

"It's not over yet, let's quickly get rid of these and get out of here."

Kaan said with an unaffected voice as he headed towards the few zombies remaining around the two. He wanted to act like it wasn't a big problem, but he could hear his heartbeats in his ear and feel his trembling hand but chose to ignore it because it was not helpful for this situation.

'I should've used the ability before I found myself in that situation, it could be dangerous. The problem was I got anxious and make myself fall to the ground.'

When he was grabbed by the zombie, he was caught off guard but still knew he could handle it when he fell to the ground along with the zombie he panicked. He wanted to save his ability for the more dangerous situations and also wanted to hide it, but it put him in a difficult position.

'It was a fool of me, the first priority is saving myself without getting injured.'

He thought about it a little bit then quickly got rid of these thoughts for now and focused on the matter at the hand.

The suit-wearing guy held the zombies coming this way while Kaan continued to get rid of the zombies and after Kaan killed the zombie the black long-haired guy was holding off.

Suddenly he felt a strange feeling inside of his body and heard a voice in his mind.

'Level up!'

He couldn't pay attention to it but what he had earned by levelling up. He looked at the corner and saw that the corpses were piled like a barricade with just one opening for the guy holding a sword.

'How did they create this barricade when they were surrounded by zombies?'

Kaan looked at them. Both looked exhausted but had lively eyes because they had finally been able to stop fighting. Both quickly left the corpse barricade and came near him.

"Em!"

The suit-wearing guy ran to the woman and hugged her tightly. While the other man smiled awkwardly and watched the two of them also gave Kaan a few glances. The suit-wearing guy and woman talked with each other with each in a quiet voice, but Kaan didn't pay attention and was looking at the entrance of the cafeteria looking at the street. It was full of zombies, and they were continuing to come inside.

"What are we doing now?"

The suit-wearing guy asked Kaan by coming next to him. When he asked this the three of them looked at him, ready to follow his words. It looked like he would move with a group for a while.
