"Fine, whatever," Helena huffed as she leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms over her chest. "What do you want to know?"
"Hey! Look, we can be civil. All I want is to be treated with a little respect. I get it, this means a lot to you, and I will take it seriously, but getting angry at me for being untrained is both Jim's and your fault, not mine nor Aqua's. You would be the one fighting with another to try and get your mark, right?" I asked, calming myself down and pulling the two long slivers out of my hand with a wince.
" trigger. I know you're angry, and you have every right to be, but please try and see this from our perspective as well. Your power is...you don't understand how dangerous it is. It's not just the people around you that could get hurt; it's the entire world. We can't let you just go out there without any training," Helena explained, and I shrugged my shoulders.
"I am not going to argue with that, but again it falls on Jim for not training me in the first place, and now everyone is too afraid to come near me because they think I will randomly lash out or something," I said, trying to reason with her. " Jim should have been more responsible in the first place."
"That may be so, but he is a bit of a strange one and doesn't answer to anyone. Trying to discipline him might end up bad for whoever tries to tell him," Helena sighed as she leaned back in her chair. "Look, Trigger; we can give you some combat training at least."
"Halberd, not Trigger. Cool sounding name, but that also makes me sound like a weapon," I said, and Helena raised an eyebrow at me.
"You are a weapon, Trigger. A very dangerous one," she said, and I shook my head.
"I am not a weapon. I am a person, just like you," I said calmly as I stood up from my chair and walked over to the window. "This city is so beautiful; it's almost a shame to have to leave."
*Sigh* "It is, but we all have our roles to play in this world," Helena said after a long moment of silence as she joined me at the window. "I wish there was another way."
There was silence between us for a while as we both looked out the window at the city below before Helena finally spoke up again.
"Look Trigger…Halberd…whatever your name is now, I know this isn't easy for you. You didn't ask for any of this, and none of us really understand what you are going through, but we need your help." she said pleadingly as she turned to face me with an earnest expression on her face. "Please…just help us this one last time."
Her words did touch something inside me that made me hesitate before sighing softly and nodding my head in agreement. Even though they had all treated me poorly up until now, they were still counting on me, and I couldn't just abandon them when they needed me most, even if part of me wanted to...even if it meant having to go back into that place again.

"You and I both know that there is no last time. I might not have read that contract perfectly, but I did read most of it. I know that as long as I am useful, you will keep bringing me back to life, right?" I asked, and Helena nodded slowly.
"I died a long time ago, killed by a falling piano, and then transported to a world where almost everyone hated me, and I was forced to save them with the power I was given. No one ever thanked me, but then I was brought up here. This is hard, and I can't really understand what you are going to have to go through in the future, but if you can help me out this time, I will owe you one any time you need something from me. I can't say that I can do anything for you, but I am sure that we can work something out," Helena said, turning to me and brushing her chest up against my arm before I turned to her. She was now wearing a calm look with a warm smile, and she looked up at me with eyes that were no longer filled with anger and contempt but pleading.
I looked down at her for a long moment before sighing and nodding my head, "Fine, but I want something in return."
"What is it that you want?" Helena asked, and I turned back to the window as I thought about what I could possibly want from her.
"I want you to be my friend," I finally said, and Helena was silent for a moment before she walked over and hugged me from behind.
"I would like that," she said, and we stood there in silence for a while longer before she finally spoke up again. "So…where do we start with your training?"
"What do you mean? aren't I supposed to be sent down now?" I asked, not moving. Yeah, I was going to enjoy every second of this; sue me.
"No, We still have some time before you need to go. I figured we could start with some hand-to-hand combat," Helena said as she released me from her hug and walked back over to her desk.
"That sounds good," I responded as I followed after her. "I wouldn't mind learning how to properly use a sword, either."
"We can work on that too, but for now, let's start with the basics," Helena said as she sat down in her chair and motioned for me to sit in one of the chairs across from her desk again.
"So, how does this work? Who is my trainer?" I asked, and Helena smiled.
"Since you are not overly popular, I will do the training myself, and we can work on this friendship you are so interested in," Helena said as she reached down and opened a drawer on her desk that was out of my view.
